  • "A perfectly delightful cottage, situated in a beautiful village."

Amazing walks right on the doorstep. It had everything we needed - and that included amazing weather. We loved our stay and I think our dog loved it even more. The garden was used for our morning coffees. And our evening BBQs - we went and bought a portable one for our visit as the evenings shouted out for outdoor eating. Kitchen was very well equipped and hosts were helpful with any requests. This area of Dorset was stunning and the White Cottage our wonderful hideaway. Thank you!

  • "Cottage was lovely, well equipped and spotlessly clean."

Warren had left a very generous welcome pack which was much appreciated and a card welcoming us to the cottage. (We managed to lose the key midway through our week and Warren was very understanding and sorted us out with a new key immediately for which we were very grateful!) We particularly enjoyed having all the space downstairs which gave the house an open airy feel. Garden was a suntrap with views over fields only wish we could have used it more but the weather was against us! Other reviewers have mentioned the tricky driveway but we found it fine and got used to reversing round the gate very quickly. Great to be able to walk the dog from the front door up the hill with lovely views over Weymouth and Portland. Location was excellent for Weymouth Dorchester and all along the coast. There's a pub in the village too which is handy! The only thing I'd recommend is bringing eye masks for the east-facing master bedroom as it gets very bright when the sun does emerge. All in all a very relaxing week in a lovely part of the world!

Thank you for your lovely comments. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and agree it’s fantastic being able to walk straight in the fields and enjoy the views from the hill ridges. I always try to make myself contactable to help if required. Hopefully we will see you again. Property Owner

  • "Good and bad points to this house."

Great house overall, lovely garden and a fantastic location. Beds were comfy and the layout upstairs worked well for our family. Lovely to enjoy the garden, it was sheltered and the furniture was comfy. Good views and lovely walks from footpaths directly outside property. However, cleanliness was disappointing throughout. Thick layer of dust visible under sofa, cobwebs prevalent and very musty smelling kitchen cupboards that were hard to close. Some crockery had been put away still dirty (ineffective dishwasher clean probably) and had to be rewashed and some glasses were chipped. The bath taps kept depositing black residues in the water so a bath wasn’t possible. There is only a mesh curtain at the window in the bathroom which was disconcerting, especially after dark. Also no blind on the window opposite the bathroom (that looks out directly onto neighbours), I had to prop something up at the window for privacy going to and from bathroom. It should be made clearer that access to the property is not easy and is along a narrow loose gravel path as nervous drivers would not cope with this property. We had 2 larger cars which had to be reversed out each day.

We are glad you enjoyed the location, garden, views and comfort of the Cottage. It’s a shame you didn’t contact us at the beginning of your stay as all your concerns about the accommodation were easily rectified, and are already complete. As for the access, only an inept driver would find it an issue. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely, cosy/warm and comfortable."

Location was beautiful. Nice/friendly local pub within 200 yards for nice food/drinks. Internet connection was strong enough to cope with 3-4 devices! My only moan is that it was tough to get on and off the drive way but I believe that is being rectified soon. I ended up parking opposite the pub for most of the week.

Thank you very much for your great comments, we are really glad you had a nice time. As you say we are indeed addressing the drive situation this week by considerably widening the gates . This will very much improve parking for future guests. Property Owner

  • "Really attractive, spacious and comfortable cottage."

Great walks straight from the door (would have appreciated some maps/leaflets about Sutton Poyntz and the walks available) Only two downsides: the fridge was not as cold as it should be and exuded a musty smell which was off putting and as has been mentioned before, manoeuvring into and out of the drive was incredibly tight (obviously nothing can be done about that!)

Hi, thanks for your positive comments. We will be replacing the fridge and widening the gates to help with the parking. Property Owner

  • "A lovely house, comfortable and well appointed."

The website needs updating - the White Horse is no longer visible due to a large house built next door. Access to the drive is very difficult as the lane is too narrow for easily turning into the drive, we just made it in a Vauxhall Zafira with an inch to spare but it would be impossible in a larger car.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We have asked Sykes to update the website as the view of the White Horse is obsecured by the farmers hedges. Turning onto the driveway is narrow, but the house has been here on the track since the 1500's. We have also had a landrover park on the drive and a few weeks ago a campervan together with a mini. Perhaps its all down to the driving! Property Owner

  • "White Horse Cottage is my dream home (or in fact, its neighbour White Horse House which looks absolutely fabulous, especially with the field behind it, my horse would have loved it)."

I would happily trade my London home for either. The location is perfect, my little dog loved his early morning walks and trips to the nearby beach and there was plenty of room for my daughter, son-in-law, and my two grandsons. We all had a fabulous time. The village is perfect, the residences were so friendly, and the Springhead Pub was lovely (that's a lot from me, I'm not really a pub person). Really I didn't want to leave. Thanks for the opportunity to stay in your fabulous property.
