  • "Lovely house with bright, spacious accommodation in a great location."

Sherpa was the ideal holiday setting for our three generation family group of nine. A well equipped homely experience for larger groups to holiday together with a nice garden area. We enjoyed the plentiful Sunday lunch at The Red Rover pub and the space and activities at the local play park, both are just a 5 minute walk away from the property. We found Sherpa to be ideally situated to visit Paultons Park, Beaulieu, Longleat and Southampton. We would definitely recommend holidaying at Sherpa.

Many thanks for the kind feedback and for highlighting the numerous local activities available from Sherpa. Property Owner

  • "Glass was apparently not collected by the local authority and there was no additional information of how to dispose of it."

Not sure what to do, it was left near the bins, we assumed that the maintenance crew knew where and are instructed to dispose of it. There were a few niggles with the property that once seen to would improve the experience greatly. Details can be provided if required, I do not wish to be negative about a generally great stay in Sherpa which is ideally placed to explore the New Forest and beyond.

Pleased that you enjoyed your stay. It is annoying that glass is not collected in the recycling bins (there is a local glass recycling facility on an adjacent road alternatively it has to go in the black bins - we have added this information to the guest information folder). We are always keen to hear from guests re. "niggles" as clearly we are not onsite and also look to address asap - I have contacted you for more details. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday at Sherpa."

Everything we could possibly need and more was provided. Beds were comfy, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The kitchen was amazing so light and clean, every appliance needed, plenty of cooking utensils and pits and pans. The living room and dining room were very comfortable with plenty of seating. The games room was a bonus, although we didn't use it a lot it was ideal for families with children. We did however have a couple if games of table football. We did make use of the garden and sat out there on the evenings, and played badminton, swing ball and coites. All in all we had an excellent week, obviously the weather helped as well. The only thing I would like to point out is that tge kettle needs descaling.

Really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Sherpa. Unfortunately the water is hard in the are, but the kettle has been descaled (and will look at this more closely in the future). Property Owner

  • "I would like to say the house is a lovely size for large family and garden."

Kitchen is amazing. But did have a few cleaning problems.kettle needs descaling badly or replaced as this was noted previous reviews. Cutlery tray in draw was awful.had to remove it and wash all cutlery.also counter tops on island needed a good clean. Master bedroom had no mirror. And the Mattress was so hard it was like sleeping on a board. This again was mentioned in previous reviews. Having a bad back already this did not help. It had a thin mattress protector on. This is not good enough. To have a good holiday you need a good night sleep. This needs to be sorted ASAP. Sofa by back door had a unpleasant smell.also no keys to open patio door to lounge. Also downstairs on suite has drainage smell. I feel awful to complain about these things but they do need sorting. It would be a perfect stay otherwise. Thank you.

Pleased that you liked the house and garden, however sorry that you encountered some problems and always keen to hear feedback from guests of any issues so we can address. We have descaled the kettle and spoken to our cleaners re. your feedback (which is unusual) While the master bedroom does not have a mirror, the bathroom cabinet in the ensuite is mirrored, there is a mirror on the upstairs landing and at the foot of the stairs. Sorry to hear about your back, the bed is firm (which seems to be to OK for the majority of guests) however we have bought a king and two double toppers for future guests to hopefully address this issue. Re. the sofa and drain smells - having personally checked cannot find an issue (no one else has raised this point) but have added a key to the lounge patio door (previous guest had lost the key). • "Fantastic property with great amenities."

Grandchildren loved the gaming room and the nearby park. Good location for visits to Paultons Park, National Motor Museum and, of course, walks in the New Forest. Would recommend Rockingham Arms for good "home cooked" food. Certainly recommend Sherpa for a family stay for larger groups.

  • "Great location for exploring the New Forest, Stonehenge, Winchester and close enough for a day trip to the Isle of Wight."

There’s a handy Nisa supermarket within easy walking distance. Plenty of parking space for 2 cars and a camper van. Great sized house for 5 adults and 3 teenagers (who appreciated the upstairs games room), while downstairs there were comfortable sofas and large dining table with plenty of space for everyone to sit. Storage options were good in each room (although no wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom) and the shoe area in the entrance porch was handy, as was the large double hall cupboard which had plenty of hanging space for coats. The kitchen was a lovely size and it was great to have extra space at the small table and breakfast bar and the double oven was fab for cooking for eight people. The house file contained very clear information with lots of suggestions for the area and the keys were very clearly labelled. Great outdoor seating and some garden games which got used between the showers! There was also a BBQ but sadly the weather wasn’t nice enough to make use of this. Niggles: The tap on the kitchen sink had to be turned on very carefully otherwise you got soaked each time you used it. A washing up bowl would also be useful. Kettle needs to be descaled. It would be helpful to have a selection of larger sized saucepans when cooking for eight people. The downstairs bedroom door sticks and can be difficult to open. The toilet seat in the upstairs family bathroom was broken and the holder for the shower head would not fix in position and just slid back down the pole. The mattress in the upstairs ensuite bedroom was hard and uncomfortable and one bedside lamp could not be used: it was not near a plug and the lead was not long enough to reach one. Missing a lock on the downstairs toilet (door through to the utility room). Overall, despite the above niggles, we were very happy with our stay and would still rate it 4 stars.

Thanks for the constructive feedback and very pleased you enjoyed your stay. Regarding some of your comments, we have now provided a washing up bowl, descaled the kettle, added more saucepans and replaced the toilet seat. The bedside light had been connected via an extension lead, but this had been placed in a cupboard but now attached again and the sticky door and shower connector have been checked and are working. We have added a lock to the downstairs toilet (to utility room) and also provided mattress toppers in case people find the mattresses hard (clearly personal preference). Property Owner

  • "We loved this property!"

We had 6 adults and 3 chn staying and we all had plenty of space. The layout of the house is really good and the kitchen at the back is light and spacious. We had great weather for the week and so we used the garden for sitting outside and having BBQs in the afternoon/ evenings. There is a park area (4 mins walk away) with a football pitch and playground which the chn loved and we went there every evening. The location of the house to explore the area is great. It is a few minutes away from Paulton Park. We also had day trips to Salisbury, Christchurch, Southampton and Bournemouth beach (which we would highly recommend - really clean with lots to do there). We also had a day trip to the Isle of Wight on the ferry. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would highly recommend this property to others.
