  • "Such a great comfortable place to stay."

The kitchen was kitted out for everything you could possible want. The beds were so comfortable and the whole of the property was extremely clean and tidy. A bonus was the very pleasant garden, a proper suntrap.CDs and DVDs for the enthusiast. Not far from Weymouth harbour and all the facilities. A very good find for the holidaymaker.

Thank you very much for your very positive feedback! It's really nice to know that the hard work we've put into making the house as comfortable as possible is appreciated. comfortable as possible is appreciatedisappreciated. Property Owner

  • "Badbury Lodge is an elegant house, with spacious rooms and has a lovely garden, located in a good area of Weymouth, with easy access to the tourist areas."

However, and we would very respectively mention, our stay was spoiled due to the relatively cheap and uncomfortable mattresses - especially so the two single ones, which affected our sleep. The quality of the mattresses may not be such an issue for young people, but for the older generation, they just didn't provide the support and comfort you would like to expect in such a high-end holiday rental property. With regards the cleanliness ( which we realise the Owners' don't have any direct control over between changeovers ), whilst the house was generally clean, the oven was full of old grease, there were unwashed pans in the cupboards, light switches and surfaces were sticky as they hadn't been wiped down. We would welcome the Owners' feedback on our comments.

We were amazed how large and bright it is. There was everything you could possibly need to have a lovely holiday and it was a real home from home. Neither of us wanted to come home and said we could quite happily live there. Would recommend anyone to stay there. Parking space 5 minutes walk away is a real bonus as is being just a 5 minute walk to the town and harbour. We LOVED it

  • "Comfortable and spacious property in a good location."

We had a lovely time with some nice days out and a good selection of places to eat. Found the parking too far away with luggage but managed street parking. I found the key safe tricky to operate, confused about the dishwasher tablets for the phantom dishwasher. Consider increasing the number of TV channels.

  • "Really lovely accommodation."

Spacious, comfortable, homely, and with a sunny garden too. Parking space was great and we could have parked closer to property if we wanted to on side roads. 15 minute steep hill walk to/from beach/town wasn’t too bad for us with our beach cart. A couple of queries were dealt with speedily by phoning the maintenance company. Thank you for a lovely week’s stay

  • "Had a brilliant week here."

It was a great base and a short walk to the harbour and not much further to the beach. The company were quick to help with any issues we had which was appreciated they also followed up to check the issue was solved. It is a very spacious house and my boys loved having a garden to run around in. We were very comfortable and happy here for the week. Plenty of storage for clothes etc for everyone and the kitchen was well stocked. We were given a dishwasher tablet but there is no dishwasher, a washing machine tab would have great instead. A smart tv would be great too, although I appreciate this is a luxury that many could go without. We had to get a fire stick to keep my young boys happy in the mornings! There is a large selection of DVD’s and books for the grown ups to use. Overall cleanliness was good on the surface but could do with a little bit of a deep clean just to bring it up to scratch again but nothing major. Would definitely recommend it to others and come back again next time we stay in Weymouth.

  • "Very disappointed with the overall cleanliness of and maintenance of the property."

In particular; the fridge and freezer door seals were black with mould, the washing machine was rusty and smelt. There was NO light pull cord in the main bathroom( found in a kitchen drawer in 3 pieces) I managed a temporary repair to last our week. The recliner arm chair needs a deep clean as we put a throw over before using it. The plug in the shower room leaked so unable to fill the sink( was reported in October 2022). On lifting sheets on final morning discovered the mattress was badly stained. This was advertised as a Sykes cottage but everything seemed to say Dream cottages. This was not upto Sykes usual high standard definitely not 4 star and I feel short changed thinking it was Sykes who I have used many times before.

Kitchen especially good - we could actually cook our own meals without any hassle !! (Happy for you to publish comments above) Problem with downstairs toilet cistern was not refilling properly - twice towards end of stay. Mentioned this to the Manager who we saw as we left the property. Sofas were rather saggy but I do have a problem with my back. This did not bother anyone else.

Hello holidaymakers and thank you very much for your kind feedback and so glad you enjoyed your holiday at Badbury Lodge. We've tried to make the property as 'home from home' as we can including equipping the kitchen with more than enough so that nice snacks and meals can be made and presented should guests wish to do this. We're grateful for you notifying us of the problem with the cistern and we can happily say this issue has now been addressed. The main sofa gets a lot of wear and tear and is probably showing it's age and we will try to address this at the end of the season. Thanking you again. Jean & Denzil Property Owner

  • "Sofas in lounge are now faded in places and dirty."

Very saggy seating. Also place is very tired and needs updating. No TV in bedroom now. Think online photos need updating. Crockery needs sorting. Cupboards full of cracked and chipped mugs etc. Windows needed good clean outside and needs coat of paint. On plus side good position for walk into Weymouth and parking around streets safe. Garden a bonus too. Nice to sit out in.

Dear Guests, thank you for your feedback and bringing a number of issues to our attention. Having visited the property last week I am glad to say that we have managed to address some of these matters and bring the property back up to the standard expected. The two chipped mugs we found have been removed and the settees have been washed. Due to the living room being flooded with light sun damage to material is inevitable and when we are back at the property after the season we will address the sagginess of the cushions and will change the furniture if we think necessary before the beginning of next year's season. The front window gets a lot of light and sea air which can damage the wood but the main ledge has been filled and painted and looks very much better and all windows have been washed. Unfortunately after a storm earlier in the year the aerial for the main bedroom was knocked down and time constraints on us means we have not been able to address this and have not seen this as a priority. Furthermore, when we left the property on 21 July a lot of cutting back and tidying in the garden had been done and we feel the property is now very much 'up to scratch'. We're glad you enjoyed the sun filled garden and the superb position of the house so close to the harbour, beach, Nothe and such amenities. Regards Jean and Denzil Property Owner

Hello Janice, unfortunately this must have been overlooked by Dream Cottages as they do supply a welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar and milk and I will mention it when I speak to them that this was missing so thank you for pointing it out and it was a shame you missed out on this. So clean and welcoming. Nice decor. Plenty of space for us and useful having two bathrooms! The small freezer was very useful. The garden was nice to sit out in the sunshine and also the veranda offered shade. Nice lights at night too. Personally, I found the pillows a little lumpy but that is probably just me being picky! We found a car parking space in the road opposite though did find the allocated space. It meant we did not use the car that week as we walked everywhere...a pleasant change. We used Badbury Lodge as a short-term home for 3 weeks to refamiliarise ourselves with the area on return from overseas. It is spacious, comfortable, warm, very clean and extremely well appointed with pretty much everything needed. Easy walking access into Weymouth and surrounding walks, plus use of the garden on sunny days. If staying for more than a week I recommend stipulating the requirement for a change of linen/towels etc. Instructions need to include car parking arrangements (300 yds away).

Also a great location, easy walk to Weymouth centre and to get out to other areas of Dorset. Thoroughly recommended for couples and families. The two bathrooms were really handy with a great shower. There was a clothes airer, loads of garden furniture and all the glasses, knives, pots and pans you could possibly need in the kitchen. There were games and DVDs in the lounge, it was just great as a place to kick back and relax. It was a five minute walk to the lovely Weymouth harbour and the cafes and restaurants of Hope Square with the beach just another short few minutes up the road. We parked our car in the space provided and never needed it again. There's a corner shop just two minutes away for essentials (wine and crisps!) and a Tesco Express and M&S Food Hall in the centre of Weymouth with an Asda nearby if you want to drive and do a serious shop. Crockery in cupboard needs looking at ,as some was dirty and tea pot was unusable . Also real shame about the garden, understand it's going to be done at the end of the year, but doesn't help this years visitors. We were lucky and managed to get a parking space ,but it is pot luck. About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
