  • "There were two fry pans with scratched and peeling teflon."

Very dangerous and health hazard. There were also 3 Stanley/craft knives. In the sideboard drawer. Have removed them. I reported all this to your shop in Weymouth.

  • "The location of the property is fabulous and it was clean enough, however the steps at the back are lethal and I had a nasty fall down them and injured myself."

After that we didn't use them again!

  • "I was horrified at the steps at the back of the property to the carpark."

I had had some communication with Sykes after I had booked the apartment. The steps are lethal, the top wooden decking is beginning to break and there are no handrails. Disgusted at how I was fobbed off... Cutlery in tray dirty which meant I had to clean it before use. Two internal steps which blended into the step below, we ended up putting hand towels across to highlight where the steps were. Both of us lost our footing on these. The main bedroom was difficult to negotiate around the bed. Should have been a mortice lock on the front door. Shower base extremely small, difficult to move around in. There were shelves missing on the door of the fridge. Large knives not even sharp enough to slice a tomato. Very disappointed with the standards. Costs are high but standards are low. Won't be using Sykes again!

Right in the centre of Weymouth Harbour area only negative was a power outage and the TV broke. Both were fixed within the hour. Great stay

  • "The apartment was really nice and comfortable and very clean throughout."

No warning in the literature about the step as you walk in, especially in the dark, as my wife fell up it. The directions in the instructions are not easy to follow but in the apartments pack it gives different directions which are easier to follow.

  • "The property is ideally suited on the ground floor as my husband can not do stairs."

And next to the harbour to sit and watch the world go by. However, the apartment should be listed accommodates 3 as there certainly isn’t enough room in either bedroom for 4 people. The angle of the wardrobe in the double room is so close to the bed you cannot walk past it without bumping into it. Ventilation is poor as the window is set deep into the ledge so you have to bend your upper body to reach the handle. We slept in the twin room, not bad apart from the mould spots on the nets. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen/living area. The kitchen is totally devoid of basic utensils and not very clean either. The shower cubicle is so small you cannot turn round once you are in there, even children would have difficulty using it. Totally inadequate and not fit for purpose. We were so disappointed as we have always booked our holidays through Dream Cottages and their properties, apart from this one, have always been first class

  • "The reasons I did not give five stars is because the shower did not stay on its stand."

As soon as the water was turned on it fell off. This resulted in a cut to my husband’s arm. The actual water power was good but the shower had to be hand held to work. This was obviously not a new problem as somebody had tried to mend it using elastic bands. The second thing that was off putting was the Venetian blind which had been broken and temporarily fixed but it would not open and close properly. Otherwise we loved everything else about the property.

Only negative my husband is disabled so struggled with small shower cubicle, but look upon that as our problem not the accommodation which as I say was excellent!

  • "The communication offered by Sykes was awful."

We booked through Booking.com who referred us to Sykes with every issue. The apartment was damp, so much so the smell made my wife and I feel ill. The shower cubicle had mould, 2 of the bathroom tiles were cracked. The bed base had thick dust where it hadn't been cleaned properly. The soil pipe from the toilet was filthy. The plumbing blocked and we had a plumber and a representative from Dream Cottages around, the plumber said it's a regular issue with the property. Very disappointed with Booking.com Sykes for poor communication and Dream Cottages for not ensuring the apartment is kept to a reasonable standard.

The only criticism would be the car parking, if we could have had a permit to park opposite, it would have been perfect. The steps at the back of the property to the carpark are very steep, anybody that has mobility problems wouldn't be able to park there

It was very clean. Ideal position for the harbour and not too far to walk to the beach. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops around if you don't want to cook. We would definitely consider staying there again.

About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
