  • "Stayed at this property mulitple times now."

Can't fault location or quality of furniture etc. Last time we stayed in February alot of restaurants were closing around Hope Square but new ones have now arrived offering a great choice of places to eat. Parking is easy on the Harbour, £8/day. Not very happy about Builders working over our heads in the top bedroom from 7.15am one morning. We did complain to Dreams Cottages who did speak with the Builders who were next door.

  • "Would be 5 stars all round but wasn’t taken with such a late check in (4pm) and then an earlier than usual check out (10am)."

Other than that the property was lovely, spacious, beds comfy (big bonus), freshly decorated and in a great location, the owners have done a fabulous job. Just a note for the owners, fan in main bathroom wasn’t working at all, fan in en-suite could be more powerful, shame this bathroom hasn’t got access to the window behind the locked internal door, bedrooms got very hot through the night even with the windows open, some fans would be a great addition. The cleaners hadn’t collected the dirty laundry after the previous occupants so I visited Dreams office to get it collected on the Saturday. Overall a lovely stay, would we stay again absolutely (hopefully with access to fans). Many thanks for the stay at your beautiful property. Louise

  • "I don’t normally leave feedback but on this occasion I feel I have too."

This house was absolutely amazing !!!! We have been holidaying in Weymouth for 30 years and have stayed in b and b’s, hotels, camping etc but nothing will ever beat what we stayed in last week. Location was spot on but the house itself was superb !! Very spacious inside and the furnishings (which is the bit I always worry about) were lovely. Sofas very comfy and clean which is a bonus being a dog friendly house and the mattresses used in every room were of a great quality and not cheap nasty sprung mattresses. Bedding also of a high quality !! The only 2 things that would have been good was a dog gate at the bottom of the stairs as we used 2 of the dining chairs to stop our dog from going upstairs but liked the fact they cannot go up as we are the same in our own house that dogs stay on ground floor only l. Also getting into the house at 4pm seems extreme as most of the day has gone before you can get in especially being tired from a long trip. 2pm would be better I think but this has always been a bug bear of mine with staying in caravans too that you can’t get in until late. All in all this was possibly the best stay we have ever had in Weymouth and will 100% be coming back to the house !! Thanks very much

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! We really appreciate your comments with regards to the furnishings - with the house being our holiday home too, we furnished it in the way in which we’d like to stay there also. We also love the location and being able to walk everywhere so easily. Thank you for your suggestion of the stair gate - we did in fact look into this but couldn’t figure out a way to attach it to the round spindle on the staircase! We’ll have a look to see if there is anything else on the market now that might work. Thanks again for your lovely comments and we look forward to you staying again at Sailor’s Abode! Best wishes, The Owners. Property Owner

Many lovely walks along to Stone Pier Cafe for a coffee and Nothe Gardens. Really clean and tidy with everything you could need for an amazing holiday. A real character cottage which is what you expect from a property of this age. The second television was a bonus that isn’t in your listing. The gas barbecue was put to use due to the excellent weather. All in all a real treasure and Nelson’s Wharf Parking was a hidden gem and so convenient for parking for the week.

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. We’re so pleased you had a great holiday! Best wishes, The Owners. Property Owner

Many thanks for your review. I’m sorry to hear your holiday was disrupted with the electrics tripping and the boiler being fixed. Unfortunately there was a leaking valve on the boiler which needed fixing which has now been done but I’m sorry it coincided with your stay. We have requested for an electrician to investigate the plug socket tripping and for the bathroom lock to be looked at. I’m surprised the neighbour is able to see in the bathroom and we’ve never had this issue before however we will add some privacy film to the glass just in case. Regarding your point around the holiday possibly not happening please rest assured that any bookings that are made will be honoured as per our contract with Dream Cottages. We see that this was your second visit to the house and we hope you were still able to enjoy your visit despite these issues. Best wishes, The owners Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property situated just off Hope Square with a Convenience Store just 100 yards away, Bennetts Fish & Chips, two local Pubs & a couple of Tea Rooms that will be open in Summer Months."

Sadly Hope Square has suffered since Brewers Quay closed and many of the independant Cafes & Bistros that side of the Harbour have now shut down. Brewers Quay is currently under contruction and is a hive of activity covered in scaffolding and workmen of all trades! How long this work will continue is something to look into if you don't like the associated banging and clacking! It is a major development and will take some months I should imagine & could create a not so relaxing vibe on the area! The House itself is beautifully furnished to a high quality in every room. The outside space has been tidied up considerably since our last stay in August but please bear in mind it is tiny & the higher terrace can only be accessed via an extremely awkward spiral staircase and sadly the neighbours have not devloped their areas in a similar way. It is a Beautiful House just a few steps from the Harbour offering every facility for a great Holiday, this was our fourth stay so that really soeaks for itself but just bear in mind the upcoming works a 100 yards away.

  • "We enjoyed our stay very much, no issues and would return/recommend."

Although we were unable to enjoy the outdoor space due to the time of year we visited, we feel a little TLC is definitely needed as it looks rather neglected.

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback. We, the owners, are currently staying here and would agree that there are some areas that could do with some TLC outside so will look to do some maintenance on the courtyard area. Thanks again for the feedback and we hope you stay again in the future! Property Owner

  • "Window in back bedroom is painted shut, so no fresh air room extremely hot in summer months."

Proper explanation not given re parking pass revoked and pricing of property rental to address the loss of parking pass. Walls in kitchen splattered with what looked like beanz. Cobwebs in lounge and kitchen, dirty marks on carpets ( stairwell, bedrooms). When complaints made to company was advised someone would come the following day to re-clean the cottage, no one did. The actual cleaner came the night of arrival and wiped one of the walls, stating a supervisor would come. Nothing and all after a 4 hour drive. I specifically said no cleaner until next day? I have been to this property for the last 3 years and will not go again. This year was a real shoddy, poor let down by the company and maintenance of the property , including cleanliness. The cost of the holiday was well inflated in relation to standards previously experienced. I suggest both the company and property owner need to get their service provision in order to meet the usually high standards they like to portray. It is entirely up to yourselves if you make my complaint public. As far as I am concerned this is for your information and an opportunity for you to put things right for perspective holiday makers. As stated this year was a total sham and spoiled our holiday.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear of the issues you faced during your stay. It is a shame you did not contact us again during your stay to resolve the other issues that were not reported to us. We are glad the cleaner was able to fix the 2 minor issues you bought to our attention, we tried to contact you the following day to ensure everything was ok but were unable to get through to you. As discussed on your arrival, Sailor's Abode is no longer advertised as having a parking permit as Weymouth Council withdrew car park permits and now only offer zone permits but not all owners have been able to obtain one. Due to this change in amenities, the prices have been altered to reflect this and prices year on year for 2023 were less than 2022 for this week. In regards to the back bedroom window Dream Cottages have attended and it is not painted shut. This type of sash window has weights within the frame and one of these needs mending so feels like it wont open. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we have now added a notice onto the window for guests to make them aware the window does open but slightly heavier. Property Owner

  • "The property was even better than the photos suggest, my teenaged daughter said it was the best holiday house she has ever stayed in."

The kitchen is really well equipped, the bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms add a touch of luxury. Lots of added extras like crabbing nets and beach equipment were a thoughtful touch. The gas BBQ is easy to use. When the boiling water tap wasn’t working, it was dealt with quickly. The location is perfect for a relaxing break, once the car was unpacked, it was parked in the car park near by and not used until we left. The rowing boat taxi is a great short cut to the beach. Nothe gardens is ideal for walking the dog. The food at the Mexican Tapas restaurant around the corner was delicious and there were loads of other good food options near by. We would definitely stay hear again.

One suggestion for improvement would be to provide recycling facilities at the property so guests can responsibly recycle their waste. We collected our recycling and bought it home with us to avoid glass, cans, paper etc.. going to landfill. Thanks

Thankyou for your feedback, we are pleased you loved the house and location. At present Dorset Council do not offer separate recycling for trade waste. We are hopeful this will change in the future. Property Owner

It had all the items we needed to have a great weeks holiday, The only challenge for us was the need to leave by 10am, particularly when the Dreams Cottage driver arrived at 10 too to drop off linen for the next guests and cleaners when all our luggage was stacked next to the front door whilst we awaited the cars to be bought round. This could have been done after we had left the cottage.
