  • "Great stay in a perfect location."

Waking up to the sunrise over Portland Breakwater was wonderful, and there's plenty to do within walking distance of the cottage. Having Castle Cove beach on the doorstep was great too, and perfect for early morning or late afternoon strolls. Having been slightly concerned after reviews spoke about building work very close, there was no evidence of this, and it looks to have been completed now.

  • "Lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting although looking tired in places and could do with some small repairs."

The bathroom floor is very unstable by the toilet and basin........there is a significant crack in the lounge ceiling, below, which caused some concern. Slightly disappointed in the overall cleanliness of the property, although the bedding was spotless. The garden(s) and drive areas would have been more inviting had the debris and litter been swept up before our arrival. We found the cushions for the garden furniture to be a bit grubby. However, if these little things were addressed, we would definitely return.

  • "This is our second stay at Castle Cove Cottage Pros : The location is absolutely beautiful and we made good use of the beach on the few sunny days we had ."

The cottage was clean and well equipped with plenty of towels . There is a Coop just 5 minutes walk ( uphill ) which has everything you need so no need to bring loads of supplies unless you want to . Cons : There were a few niggles from our first stay which had been resolved , but a couple still remained ie: The master bedroom curtain does not block out any light - I woke up at sunrise every morning which was around 04:30 during our stay . A blackout curtain and blind are definitely needed. Secondly the en-suite shower is tiny and its door folds open inwards - my husband struggled to get in it , and it’s impossible to turn on the water without saturating your arm. The cushions for the outside furniture are grubby- we knew this from last year so brought our own throws. The washing machine wasn’t working during our stay which we discovered after removing a sopping wet load from it which then took days to dry. We did report this , it wasn’t resolved during our stay but in fairness we did say it wasn’t the be all and end all and no urgency. The hob in the kitchen could do with instructions to switch it on - we worked it out eventually but it was a good half hour of trial and error. All in all we had a lovely week and with a couple of tweaks it would’ve been perfect.

  • "Lovely property, great location."

Only feedback we have is in relation to the master bedroom - The mattress was uncomfortable and sunk down at the sides, the blind in the master bedroom kept falling off when using the blind, felt it was a cheap solution in comparison to the other two bedrooms and it could do with thicker curtains as well to keep the room dark in lighter nights.

  • "It was unfortunate that we had building work being carried out on two properties either side of us from 8am-4pm everyday of our stay, we could not enjoy the vista from the back garden due to workmen cutting paving stones everyday, The property is in an ideal place for walking to the beach, and was tastefully decorated throughout , the one improvement that could be made is to fit a blind or curtain to the down stairs toilet for more privacy."

It would have been an ideal vacation if it wasn’t for the building works next door. I would recommend this property to anybody they will certainly enjoy it.

  • "Views from property were amazing , to be able to walk down to quiet secluded beach was just perfect ."

The negatives were still building work going on both sides of property even though I was told on ringing Sykes that the major work was done and there shouldn’t be any noise … there was . The other problem was with the TV …..It only worked by streaming and occasionally the Wi-Fi dropped out , making it very frustrating.

  • "Builders yard!"

! Hammering, drilling, grinders going on from 8am till 5pm! Roof tiling going on till 7.30! Scaffolding so big you could not use the bedroom balcony and dangerous sitting in the garden as tile hooks falling down! Also scaffolding and noisy on the other neighbouring side, heavy trucks going up and down the street all the time! Even when you tried to escape to the beach, more building work going on! We had to leave the property early as could not stand it any longer! I can't understand how this property can be let out, it has been a nightmare! When some building work was advertised, I didn't think i would be having my hard earned holiday on a building site! Absolutely gutted and now feeling so sad.

  • "Although there is a disclaimer re building work it should be stated how extensive it is at the moment both side of the property The property adjoining is having a new roof and the builders were there from 7."

30am till 8.30pm one day I went round to complain I booked this property last November so thought it wouldn’t be a problem I think it should be checked on a local basis rather than just putting a disclaimer The outside patio had not been swept and was full of debris from the trees also the front entrance needed attention That being be said it is in a fantastic location and the property itself although could be slightly improved I.e nowhere to hang towels in the en-suite we had a great time and are going to book again for next year These little things should be addressed as the property isn’t cheap and some holidays makers value the little things more than the view I did report the tv not working properly so you sent someone round the same day which was excellent however he said it was a faulty plug but it isn’t it is a FAULTY SIGNAL OR AERIAL problem I would certainly hope this is fixed next year when I revisit the property Is this does get read I would hope the above points are addressed as it’s has been constructive criticism not just nit picking

  • "Where to start?"

There are builders in the adjoining property and noisy drilling, sawing and hammering starts from just before 8 till 4.30. We have been unable to use the patio or balcony because of noise and dust. Builders on scaffolding just a couple of feet from the main bedroom window mean that curtains have to be kept drawn thus depriving us of the wonderful view. Don’t expect any help from Sykes who are hiding behind a small notice at the end of the property listing added when building works started the other side over a year ago which are no problem. We would advise against booking this property until the building works have been completed.

  • "Cobwebs in main bedroom and on suite toilet, which also had awful smell emanating once door was opened."

No iron was found but did have an ironing board! Parking was not as easy to get in or out of the drive as visitors to the beach are allowed to park very close to the drive entrance. View from the back of the property across the bay and beach was wonderful.

Thank you for your feedback, if you had contacted Dreams with these issues we would of rectified them straight away for you during your stay. However we have now attended to these issues and rectified them. Dream Cottages. Property Owner

  • "We are missing the views!"

It is a shame about the houses being built which do take some of the view & directly next door has scaffolding up at the rear with building work. It didn't spoil our holiday at all, it is in a great spot within easy access to Weymouth beach, the harbour & Nothe Fort, we also travelled slightly further to Sandworld (6mins in the car)& Durdle Door (30mins). The house was clean & had everything we needed for a great stay. Thank you.

Good amounts of kitchen products. Enough towels, bedding. Great position just off the beach with fantastic access. Lovely place to stay and would come back. The fridge didn’t get cold enough so would be good to get this checked. The main bedroom needs a chest of drawers as not everything can be hung up. Otherwise great thank you

We watered the plants every day but they were neglected when we arrived. Well equipped - we made use of the washing machine, etc. Fan was a bit noisy in the kitchen and we couldn't seem to turn it off - minor detail though and didn't detract from the enjoyment. We would stay there again.

30am, on our last night they had noisy machinery going until 10.45pm. Avoid this property until building site right next door is complete. Sykes aren’t interested in our feedback and they should be offering this property at a discounted rate for the noise impact.

A little maintenance required - fridge needs defrosting ( our fridge food froze! ), the en-suite toilet cistern needs attention as it refills through the night. The curtains in the main bedroom are thin and so woken every morning at sunrise - too early when on hols. Black out blinds would have been appreciated. Overall nice but just needs some attention
