  • "We found the cottage excellent, providing everything you need, the only downside we found the beds uncomfortable."

The cottage is situated in a great village central for the Jurassic coast, And only ten minutes away from a large supermarket. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Rose cottage.

  • "Cottage was great."

There only seemed to be 4 teaspoons and perhaps some ordinary eggcups would be useful.

Thank you. We are glad you liked the cottage. We’ve replenished the spoons and egg cups. Hope you’ll come back try them :) Property Owner

  • "It’s a nice well appointed property in a lovely area in easy driving distance of places worth visiting."

Lack of phone signal is a slight nuisance. It really would benefit from a hand rail on the stairs. We enjoyed our stay.

  • "It was really a lovely cottage."

When we arrived it was very clean and tidy, the kitchen is well utilized, towels and sheets smell very nice and the beds were great! Where to put our garbage wasn’t quite clear. There was a big green garbagebin for the litter, and left of the Kitchener were two smaller boxes and a grey garbagebin. What should we have put in which bin??? We enjoyed our stay! Went walking with the kids, did some fossilhunting, went to different places. Lovely! The only ‘negative’ thing is that it is not suited for tall men like me. I am 2 meters tall and my head is litteraly full of scars now.

Thank you for the feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed the cottage. We will make clearer regarding the rubbish. Property Owner

  • "A lovely cosy cottage, with everything we needed."

The terraced back garden was an added bonus, perfect for late afternoon tea and cake (or glass of rosé) in the sun. Nice walk from the cottage to Hive Beach (which has a great cafe/restaurant), or a quick 10 min drive, for a morning stroll followed by breakfast at the cafe (NB: the car park is free to NT Members). The local pub is a 5 minute walk away. It is very traditional, with warm welcoming staff and great food.

  • "Really lovely cottage, situated in a beautiful location."

Very tastefully decorated - stylish yet cosy. Pretty garden with wonderful views of the countryside when you got to the top of it. Really appreciated the goodies left for us by the owners so we could have that all important first cup of tea after our long journey! Lots to do in the area - great beaches, RSPB (Arne), cider tasting and castles (Lulworth). We couldn't do it all as we spent quite alot of time relaxing at the cottage! Highly recommend.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. We are pleased you love the cottage as much as we do. Property Owner

  • "Super. Owner was most helpful when I spoke to her."

Cottage was perfect and so was the location. Children wrote in the visitors book and their comments were very positive.

So pleased you enjoyed your time at Rose Cottage. Lovely comments from the children. Property Owner

  • "What a beautiful cottage, amazingly well appointed… the listing does not do it justice!"

Fabulous kitchen includes a washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, microwave, huge cooker, coffee machine as well as lovely crockery. Lounge has lovely modern sofas, a gas fire and a Smart TV. Beds are comfortable and bedding was cosy. Main Bathroom had a rainfall type shower over the bath as well as a removable one. My only (tiny) thing that I’d say was missing was a shaver socket. Thank you. (Also updating your details would be helpful as the key safe code we were sent was incorrect as it had been changed).

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Rose Cottage. Property Owner

About the location

SHIPTON GORGE

Bridport 2.8 miles; Seatown 7.2 miles; Lyme Regis 13.3 miles.

The village of Shipton Gorge has its first reference in the Domesday Book of 1086. There is no "gorge" but it is an interesting and pretty village with high banked lanes, lovely houses and a community spirit. There are a number of thatched properties as well as listed buildings, one site of special scientific interest, two small woods and a network of public footpaths and bridleways to be explored. It has an early 15th century church tower, a 13th century font and the exterior is floodlit for much of the year making it an important feature of the village both day and night.
