Unfortunately the weather has got into the woodwork and made it very difficult to open the exterior doors. The games room was a bonus.

  • "An excellent family house for Christmas!"

Warm and cosy and homely with lovely wood burners - the Christmas tree was a lovely touch. The kitchen is well equipped and all very clean - actually more spacious for a family than we were expecting. The location is excellent - beautiful village, great pub and so easy for our daughter to arrive by train and be collected from Tisbury. Access very good for elderly Grandpa too and stairs not too steep. Thank you. We hope to return.

  • "This is a lovely property in a great location."

We loved the garden and having an excellent pub like the Royal Oak almost on the doorstep was a bonus. The house itself could be a bit cleaner and is a little tired and could benefit from some tlc. However. having said that, we really enjoyed our stay and may well book there again in the future.

It was beautifully kept and comfortable whilst feeling homely and welcoming. Please don't update the lovely old furniture, as one reviewer suggested - that was a major part of its charm for us! Snowdrops in the garden were a wonderful early spring bonus. We hope to return.

That's great. Really glad you enjoyed your stay - hope to welcome you again. Property Owner

  • "We arrived from Australia for our sons wedding and stayed at Church View for 4 weeks."

Firstly the outdoor furniture was appalling, so old and broken in parts. The gardens were pretty overgrown and not as nice as in the photos. The rug in the dining area was thread bare and the furniture quite old. Utensils in the kitchen were adequate but overall fair, but only just . Louise the lovely lady who looks after Church View was brilliant, so kind and helpful and happy to assist when she could. We feel the whole place needs a complete update . Overall we enjoyed our stay, but feel things could have been a lot better.

  • "We enjoyed our week here."

A few very tiny niggles (eg only 1 tea towel) but generally we were impressed both by the quantity of facilities (books, games, cooking equipment, etc.) and by the quality, such as hotel-quality towels and bedding.

Really pleased you enjoyed your stay - and we hope to see you again. Please let us know if you need anything during your stay. Property Owner

  • "I would reccommend Church View as our recent long weekend spent there was extremely enjoyable."

The house is spacious, clean, comfortable and warm with lots to keep children occupied. The extensive gardens/fields are great for the kids to explore and play. The overall setting in the village is quiet but convenient for the pub etc. Our Host Jon was extremely helpful and went out of his way to help us with something that we lost.

Delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much - we hope to welcome you again in the future. Property Owner

There was loads of toys, games, cards, books etc not to mention the table tennis and the trampoline. The wood burning stoves were lit in the evenings and the cottage was really cosy. The garden was a delight for the children and adults alike with a lovely stream at the bottom. The local pub in the village, the Royal Oak was excellent - 10 out of 10 for service and food and there were plenty of local walks on the doorstep and many things to do around the location.

About the location

TISBURY, NEAR BATH

Shaftesbury 12 miles; Salisbury 15 miles.

An interesting, lively village on the Wiltshire/Dorset border, well served by a good selection of inns, shops, a library, a bank, a garage and with a regular rail link to both London and Exeter. The village is set in the valley of the River Nadder, a good fishing river which gently meanders its way down to Salisbury and where herons, grey wagtails and even kingfishers may be seen - a bird watcher’s paradise! Along the valley, the lush green countryside provides superb rural walks and cycling. Full of history, the nearby mill predates even the Domesday Book. A visit to the local churchyard reveals a famous 1,000 year old yew tree and also the graves of Rudyard Kipling's parents, who lived here. The village serves as a great year round base for exploring this interesting area. Within a short drive are Wilton House, Shaftesbury, Old Wardour Castle, Stourhead, Stonehenge (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury.

Property accommodates 10 people, sleeping up to a maximum 7 adults and 3 children only.

If you receive any requests for more than 7 adults, please consult owner to see if they will accept. No parties/stags or hens. Will normally accept a wedding party or family reunion.
