  • "We had a lovely stay in Brock Cottage."

It is very well resourced with kitchen equipment and comfortable furnishings. The location is fab - right in the heart of West Bay. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

  • "Booked last minute."

Brock Cottage is in a very convenient position within seconds of harbour, beach eateries, walks etc. Bonus of own parking space. Tardis like cottage with large rooms (& some fab artwork!). Enclosed garden great for the dog. However, the garden whilst being pretty, could do with a tidy up. Also (& as others have said), no blind in the main bathroom only a net (which is no use with the lights on!?.). Some noise from neighbours also. Would probably book again... but not at full price. Overall, lovely cottage.

  • "We had great difficulty removing the key from the key safe - the key safe needs to be replaced."

Parking in the car park was a hassle and expensive. A parking space could be made in the front garden. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Tasteful decor. Some maintenance needed on the outside of the cottage - slates slipped on the roof and weeds growing out of some guttering. Lovely cottage.

Hi. Glad you enjoyed the stay. We now have off street parking for one car. Property Owner

  • "Great property but needs a blind in the main bathroom so it can be used other than in daylight hours without giving the neighbours a show !"

Also needs a blind in the front bedroom as the security light in the property opposite is faulty and turns on every couple of minutes during the night and shines straight in the window.

  • "Super propery, very happy overall."

I would suggest looking into getting black out curtains or something, trying to settle small children at 7-8pm in summer time was tricky with such paper think curtains. Only other small issue was limited number tea spoons of normal size Otherwise we loved our visit and would happily stay again

  • "Everything, even the bad weather was made bearable by the beautiful cottage and its cosiness."

I am disabled so the stairs were a challenge but not impossible, but the situation of the cottage to local amenities, restaurants, beach, shops was superb. And the little alley way at the side of the house with its under cover storage was perfect for my mobility scooter.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay."

The only facility that was an issue re: comfort was the lack of opaque curtains/blind in the bathroom. No one wants to be under a spotlight to the neighbourhood when having an evening bath... Also, it would be useful if the recycling info on the green dustbin was legible as we're not sure if everything we put in there was recyclable in the local area.

  • "We really liked Brock Cottage, it was well equipped apart from place mats."

The rooms were well furnished and surprisingly spacious, very good position, easy to walk everywhere and although there was no parking the car park was under a minute away. There a lovely courtyard with table and chairs, the only fault was the lovely garden was a bit neglected, the lawn needed to be cut. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the grandchildren loved their room in the attic!

  • "Check in was delayed due to cleaners not turning up and emergency cleaners needing to be called."

Whilst clean was satisfactory under the circumstances the house was not clean. Garden: What was a a well maintained holiday home asset from our experience last year (which was why we re-booked for 2021) had been reduced to a wild overgrown unusable space. Finally (after spending a significant time on telephone calls) we were able to use the garden by 8pm on Tuesday Its would also have been helpful to have been advised in advance of changes in local car park conditions and tariffs.

We are sorry for the issues on the day of your arrival with the emergency cleaners. Thank you for your understanding. The garden is now in order. The car parking charges are out of our control but our information is up to date now. Dream Cottages Comment from owner: we now have off street parking for one car. Property Owner

  • "In the listing and info in the cottage it says that parking is available nearby for £2 a day."

This is not true and is actually £8 a day so cost us over £50 for the week. This needs to be updated as its a lot of extra money people might not have budgeted for. The garden was overgrown and needed mowing and could do with more comfy seats to sit outside. Only 2 provided. The kitchen needs a couple of measuring jugs but apart from that is excellently kitted out. The password on the back of the wifi router is not the correct one. The correct one is in the info folder. A visitors book would have been nice to read through and also to contribute to. That sounds picky. We did actually have a very nice holiday. The cottage is so close go everything we hardly used ghe car.

  • "Brock cottage is a lovely cottage, well presented and comfortable."

It has a pretty, if overgrown, and secure garden. On the whole it is well equipped although in our experience it is unusual in this price bracket not to have some sort of welcome pack of tea bags/milk etc and to not be provided with dishwasher tablets or bin bags. It is in a central location in West Bay which is both a blessing and a curse. It’s a two minute walk to the beach and costal path but the road it is on is surprisingly busy at all times and with only single glazed windows the road noise is loud in the front of the house where the master bedroom is. West Bay, as we discovered, is a bikers haven and we had a couple of disturbed nights over the weekend with very loud bikes coming and going until past midnight. It’s an old cottage and while attempts have been made to add soundproofing, noise from the very friendly neighbours could often be heard quite loudly, especially on the stairs and in the lounge and the master bedroom. We were also conscious of trying not to be too noisy so as not to disturb them, not easy with three small children. One final issue was the parking....the listing for the cottage states that parking is available close by for £2 per day. Whilst this may have been the case in the past, it is no longer so and the parking cost is now £8 for a full day at all the car parks. You can keep this down to closer to £4 if you are out for the main part of the day. Parking was plentiful and even though it was very busy we never had an issue getting a space. Whilst the cottage itself is lovely, and on the whole we enjoyed our stay, the noise from road and neighbours definitely marred our enjoyment and we wouldn’t book again because of it.

  • "Superb cottage - a bit like a Tardis!"

The front of building is quite modest, but once one is inside, the space just seems to expand and expand. Cleanliness and comfort were excellent and the rooms are all spacious and comfortable. Lovely and well-equipped kitchen. The two double bedrooms upstairs were also of a good size with very comfortable beds and the third bedroom on the second floor (which we didn't use as sleeping accommodation as we were two couples) was very useful as quiet space - one member of our party has just started a University course and needed some space for Zoom seminars etc. The WiFi connection was also excellent. While we did not have the best weather throughout, we did have some marvellous days walking the South West Coastal Path which passes through West Bay. The route to the West through Seatown on onwards to Charmouth over the top of Golden Cap is just superb. West Bay itself is unpretentious and has a working harbour, some good restaurants and bars and is a great base for the Dorset coast. Brock Cottage would be highly recommended by us.
