  • "The WiFi is TERRIBLE!"

!!!! It was best just to turn WiFi off!!!! That needs to be sorted. The parking was really very difficult and awkward. We fortunately had a small car. It was very unclear whether we had to stop at the bollard or should go to the end. If going to the end it was very difficult to get out again. People need to be warned of this. Everything else was great. Very comfortable, well equipped and lovely to stay there. Great location. Really enjoyed our stay.

  • "Accommodation and furnishing comfortable."

Sufficient utensils. Good situation between Bridport and West Bay but road leading off West Bay Road short but steep. Driveway tricky, best not to drive up to cottage but to leave vehicle by bungalow. Enjoyed a relaxing stay.

  • "The location of the property was excellent, easily walkable to West Bay & Bridport."

The pint of milk in the fridge was most welcome. The driveway leading to the parking space was very narrow, which wasn’t reflected in the pictures or description of the property, if we had a larger car we would have struggled to reach the parking space. The property was clean but there was a strange smell in the property, like masked stale cigarette smoke, which we were surprised by since it is a non smoking property. We opened the windows whilst we were there but couldn’t get rid of the smell all weekend. We were surprised to only find two teaspoons, which we thought was a bit mean. There didn’t seem to be any provision for recycling so we took it home with us as we didn’t want it to go to landfill.

Thank you for your feedback, sorry you encountered some of these issues during your stay. Had these been brought to our attention at Dream Cottages we would have acted upon it and helped rectify them for you. The team would have been happy to attend the property with additional inventory and investigate the smell. As previous reviews show the owners who live adjacent to the property are also always willing to help whenever they can and could have also assisted in resolving these things and shown you where the recycling bins where located. There have been no previous reviews concerning the driveway, we do state it is a private road, but we will certainly take a look and see if this needs to be updated in our travel directions. We do hope to welcome you back to the area again soon. Dream Cottages. Property Owner

  • "We spent a lovely week at Roundham Cottage."

The cottage is perfect, lovely decor and very well equipped. A lovely deck at the back, a real sun trap, and perfect for watching the sun go down in the evening. Harry and Pam met us on arrival, a lovely couple who just leave you to get on but we had a nice chat over the garden fence.

  • "Pam and Harry were the perfect hosts."

They settled us in then left us to it! The photos of the cottage don’t do it justice. It’s cosy, well equipped (even has Netflix) and the garden is a little sun trap and private. There is some road noise when you’re outside but that didn’t bother us. The cottage is in a great spot. It’s around a 15 minute walk down to the beaches and harbor front (the walk up the cul de sac is very steep). There’s also a Morrison’s and Spa in walking distance. Only thing we’d say is we didn’t know what to do with our recycling - maybe add a note in the welcome book. Would highly recommend to a couple looking for a chilled out break in a central location.

  • "We enjoyed our recent stay in this comfortable and clean accommodation."

We were a bit surprised that a hairdryer wasn't provided - self-catering properties tend to include one. The first morning's activities included a trip in to Bridport to buy one ! A small bin in the bathroom would be useful as would a potato peeler and small sharp kitchen knife in the kitchen drawer. Whilst obviously plates etc. were provided, a complete set of modern crockery and cutlery would complement the modern kitchen and appliances. Although the entrance to the property is in a close, the cottage is located in an elevated position above the main road in to West Bay. We were therefore aware of some traffic noise ; especially when we had any windows open.

About the location

WEST BAY

Bridport 1.5 miles; Lyme Regis 11 miles

West Bay, fondly known as “The Gateway to the Dorset Jurassic Coast” and popularised by the TV series Broadchurch, lies close to the glorious sandstone cliffs of Golden Cap, at the western end of the dramatic pebbly Chesil Beach. This is a wonderful seaside location, perfect for family holidays, offering scenic walks along the South West Coast Path, as well as ample opportunities to try your hand at sea fishing, crabbing, boating and golf. Visit the homes of Thomas Hardy and TE Lawrence, the Tank Museum at Bovington or the Naval air Museum at Yeovil. Only 1.5 miles away is the vibrant market town of Bridport, featured in the TV series, River Cottage. The area holds plenty of attractions to suit the whole family! Just a short drive West takes you to Charmouth for fossil hunting, to the picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis, and to River Cottage HQ near Axminster. To the East are the lovely Sub-tropical Gardens and Swannery at Abbotsbury, and the golden sands of Weymouth. This wonderful location makes an ideal base for a great family holiday.
