  • "Our stay in Wey Cottage was ok, the location and property were nice but we felt that the cleanliness let it down."

Floors had been hovered but not mopped as when you wiped them they were dirty. The seals in the shower downstairs were filthy and there were dirty hand marks all over the fridge door. Only one toilet roll supplied per toilet and only one tea towel in the kitchen. The kitchen utensils were a little sparse especially if you wanted to cook a meal. Overall we would return as the location is perfect for us although it needs to be mentioned that it is on a steep hill. Cheapest parking nearby is in the Nothe Car Park about 5 mins away.

  • "Loved the property, had everything we needed, only 10 mins walk to beach & shops."

Car parking was bit of problem but we knew that before we booked. Toilets not as clean as we’d liked, put plenty of bleach down them both. Blind on kitchen door - no cord, (just minor things.) Couldn’t find any torches In Case of power cut. Wouldn’t hesitate to book Wey Cottage again.

  • "We last stayed at Wey Cottage a couple of seasons ago and liked its location and space very much."

We found it in need of some attention this year. A member of the maintenance team came as we moved in on the Saturday to begin our holiday and said that the previous occupants had left a substantial burn/melt mark on the twin bedroom carpet and that he would be back midweek to place a rug over it. This didn't happen and we covered it with a towel for the duration of the holiday. A couple of the touch operated lamps were faulty and flickered when used. Scatter cushions in two of the bedrooms need a good wash as do the scatter cushions in the living room area. A couple of these are quite worn. Although there is a dishwasher we chose not to use it as there is insufficient crockery and cutlery to make it viable ( only 5 forks in cutlery drawer but larger quantity of other items). There is a large damp patch on the the kitchen dining area wall adjoining Mackerel Cottage next door. We alerted Dream Cottages and maintenance visited. They told us it was an 'historical issue' and that they would investigate next door. Having said all of this, we did have a wonderful holiday in Weymouth but wouldn't book Wey Cottage again unless there is a degree of refurb.

If we had known we might have chosen something near beach, on the level. The cottage was very comfortable with most things you would need there. Difficulty finding parking spaces for car. The double oven was very dirty and needed a good clean.

Due to the storm thart hit while we were there, we had to report a repair. The maintenance man attended within a couple of hours and this did not affect our holiday. The skirting boards in bedrooms were thick with dust and carpets did not look hoovered. Toilet seat upstairs in en-suite room was loose and hanging off, pillows poor quality, the shower unit downstairs was disgusting, mould build up and rust at bottom of the glass door, garden untidy and in need of a good sweep.

Thank you for taking the time to submit the feedback, but we were sorry to hear that so many issues. do bear in mind that Dream Cottages are near the property and will always attend when told of a problem. We hope to welcome you back to Wey Cottage for another stay. Property Owner

The girls said that a hand towels wouldn't go amiss for drying hair (I don't have that problem), more sponges and jay cloths, egg poacher (we brought our own) and tongs for turning bacon on the grill, apart from that everything was fine. The house was lovely and clean on arrival and provided plenty of space for a family of 6 ( which included 3 ,6ft teenage boys). It is positioned about 5 minutes from the harbour. The house is on a tight road so parking was difficult and I would imagine in the summer season it would be harder to find a space. Ample room for up to 6 people. We found the home to be clean and tidy with some appliances and utensils absolutely brand new. Would have appreciated a wooden spoon/serving spoons, but otherwise spot on. There is no parking but we managed to unload the car and then find a spot within walking distance. Courtyard was safe and secure for our (small) dog. My only comment would be that as a dog friendly cottage, it may be worth considering replacing the carpet in the living area with wooden flooring - much less stressful and easier to keep clean.

I think like a few of the cottage it could Do with a bit of an update, even just a lick of paint to freshen things up. One thing, I understand this house is pet friendly but sofa did have a dog smell so really could do we a clean/freshen up! The spare pillow in the main bedroom was stained and had hairs on it. Behind and underneath the single bed hadn’t been hoovered in a long time. There was no spare linen for the truckle bed and we had to ask, although was delivered promptly. No dustpan and brush, outside area quite tatty and dilapidated.

We found an old sock in the crevice of the armchair ( the matching was on the ground in the courtyard), sweet wrappers under the settee, an old dog’s ball under the kitchen units which all suggested that the premises had not been cleaned as thoroughly as it should have been, especially during this current virus pandemic. The kitchen sink gave off a strong putrid smell and slow to drain indicating that the waste pipe was blocked and in need of maintenance The courtyard garden was unkempt and in a poor state of repair with an abundance of weeds and detritus littering the area. The Yale front door lock was defective, causing difficulty in gaining access. I am pleased to say that this swiftly remedied after contacting head office in Chester. Lastly, as an observation, the bathrooms would benefit from a razor charge point.

Apart from having to reschedule the holiday twice due to Covid 19, my family and I had wonderful time in the cottage and in Weymouth. All the pubs and restaurants were open, but some not serving food or offering a reduced menu. The cottage is spacious and was adequate for the five of us, all adults, two couples and a single son. The stairs were standard width and gradient unlike a lot of cottages that have narrow steep stairs. As we arrived on the August Bank Holiday weekend, parking was a challenge, but we managed to find street parking for two vehicles. After Wednesday I could park my car on the common ground close to the cottage. There seemed to be less cleaning products and towels in the cottage thN last year, not to mention a pair of tongs for turning the breakfast sausages and bacon, as well as an egg poacher, but these are minor issues on the whole the facilities are good. If my wife with her dodgy hips can still manage to get up Franchise Street hill next year, we will consider booking again.
