The cottage was very well equipped, very comfortable and cosy warm when the temperature dropped. Communication from the owner was very clear and welcoming. So much to see in the area and the village was perfect for us. The pub across the road was an added advantage and became our source for Wi-Fi connection. Good food and friendly.

Had some lovely walks from the property although the footpath signs were neglected . We also enjoyed the pub next door which served good food and cider at reasonable price. Also very friendly atmosphere. Dedicated parking was great as the pub took over any road parking. I would have given 5 stars if it had WiFi and a washing machine. Still would book again and think it was good value.

  • "Absolutely gorgeous little cottage, located right next door to a bustling pub with great food (and yet somehow absolutely zero noise."

To the point where you just wouldn’t even know it was there). Free off road designated parking available so no challenge to find somewhere to park. Located a minute or so walk from the local shop and cafe too for great breakfasts. And a short drive from lots of local towns and villages. Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Street, and Wells all within a short drive, and Weston, Bristol, Taunton, Bath, Frome a little further. Ideal location for exploring Somerset and beyond. Only thing worth being aware of - and this is not a criticism at all. In fact, could well be a selling point… you won’t get phone signal, and there is no wifi. It is available at the pub and shop/cafe, but if you’re needing to check in digitally on a regular basis then you need to be aware of this. All in all, a lovely stay, helpful owners who checked in by email, cottage perfect. Would definitely return.

Unfortunately this was not clear when we booked the place, in fact we thought there was slow wifi (which would have been fine), but had we known there was no WiFi and no Internet then we would not have booked this place. The floorboards creak really badly upstairs especially in the 2nd bedroom making the wardrobe and door rattle very loudly. There was a bad smell from the shower drain which the host tried to sort out but it didn't work. The hob on the oven is very old fashioned but usable. We cooked there most evenings. Other than the above the place is really nice and comfortable. It is very well located for walking in the area and our host was very good.

The cottage was extremely clean and had everything we needed for the stay. The kitchen was particularly well stocked with equipment so it was easy to cook. There was a large selection of information leaflets for the local attractions and the pub across the road was friendly. There was no WiFi (and limited access to data in the village), but this was actually quite a welcome change. There were plenty of books, DVDs and a jigsaw available for evening entertainment if needed

I have never slept on such an uncomfortable bed. We tried all three and they were all the same. There was no wi-fi which I appreciate must have been mentioned in the details but which I missed. Also the dvd was not working, it would not connect to the TV. But the cottage was very clean and in a quiet position.

Unfortunately it is difficult to please everyone with mattresses. I think I have had about 4 mentions of mattresses to hard. Silent night mattresses have now been replaced with softer one’s. Hopefully I will not now get complaints of being to soft and having to stay in bed all day as it was so comfortable. Probably the dvd problem was not selecting source on the tv. As for the WiFi, it stated no WiFi in the listing. Although it is available at the Pub and Coffee shop. Property Owner

  • "Had a great stay in April at The Cider Barn in Wookey, perfect location, very handy for everywhere."

We walked to the Wookey Caves, which was only a couple of miles. Three great local pubs all within walking distance, one actually next door, due to this there is constant cars parked down the side of the property which does affect privacy but you get used to it. The cottage had everything we needed, very compact. My only negatives would very that you have to go outside the front door to get access to the rear garden/seating area, as there is no back door, so we found we only used it once. Also I found the double bed a bit uncomfortable, seemed smaller than a normal double and due to a mattress protector, as a middle aged female, it made me overheat a lot, whence I didn't really get a good night sleep. But apart from this it was great and we would return if coming dow to this area again.

The cottage is very well equipped and very clean and tidy. The fittings and fixtures are first class and you can see that a lot of thought has been put in to the build and fittings of the house. The twin beds were comfortable, but very noisy if you turned over in the night the other occupant of the room would certainly know! It is well situated for trips to the coast and also to various interesting towns nearby. There is little or no mobile phone coverage at the property and no internet, so if this is important to you, then this is not the property for you, personally it was good since you are not bothered by calls etc. if you need internet it is available in the pub next door and also at the Wookey Hub just down the road. The owner Mr Spearman was very helpful and when we arrived there was milk in the fridge and mince pies and a bottle of wine to greet us, a lovely touch. He also came and introduced himself to us and was most helpful. All in all a very enjoyable and restful break over Christmas.
