Nice fixtures fittings and a nice refurbishment. We were sailing at Castle Cove Sailing Club and the location is ideal. The only thing that could be improved is the effectiveness of the blinds in the bedrooms. It was very light and hot in the bedrooms in the mornings.

Hi Anthony, really glad you enjoyed your stay and proximity to Castle Cove Sailing Club within a stone's throw. Really appreciate your constructive feedback: we have provided disposable eye masks since the review and there are fans in the bedrooms, and we are working on options to replace the blinds with something that lets less light in for next season. Close enough to Weymouth to be able to walk in. The house itself was lovely and modern - fantastic well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, sofa and bean bags and a great garden for the dog and children. A dropped kerb onto the parking would be helpful though. Would definitely stay again.

Hi Nicky, thanks so much for the positive feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed the stay and explored the local area with your family. I hear you on the dropped kerb i'm in contact with the council about getting this done. Hope to welcome you back some day, Rob and Michelle Property Owner

The closeness to the shoreline and access to the south coast path (Rodwell Trail) was excellent, providing an easy walk to Weymouth centre and beach or to Portland with its considerable history. We even found the cyclists were polite and friendly. Very good restaurants within walking distance. The house is well looked after. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Also there appear to be less potholes in Dorset than in Hampshire too which is a bonus! Would certainly stay there again .

Thank you for the superb feedback Robin! I’m glad you enjoyed the Rodwell Trail. We live in Hampshire too so concur regarding there potholes ! Hope you come and stay again some day. Best wishes , Rob and Michelle Property Owner

  • "We were very disappointed with this property as it was misleading interpretation of the property."

The garden was not secluded as a low fence and when you were eating you could see into the kitchen as no blinds in kitchen area. The TV was not working in one of the rooms. There was no storage to put any clothes in small bedroom. All night we had to listen to cars racing up and down. The house is situated in the middle of a council estate. The heating was way too high and my son suffers from asthma. We couldn’t turn it down. We tried calling a number but no answer. The step to the front door was way too high. Misleading information of what is around the area. Thermostat on one of the radiator in bedroom does not work.

Hello there, we really are very disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay at Fisherman’s Rest and will take on board the constructive points where we can thank you. Just to point out as well, we didn’t receive a call (or a message) otherwise we would have come round to help straight away. To respond to a few of your points: * The kitchen window has a blind but not on the bifold doors which would not be practical (see photos) * I’m sorry the TV wasn’t working for you, this is a brand new TV in the bedroom and a new 65” OLED TV in the sitting room, we will review as this is easily rectified * There is no storage in the small bedroom correct, we are looking to maximise the space but there is plenty of storage in the other 2 bedrooms. * Sorry if there were cars making noises, I can only put this down to it being New Year’s Eve. The house is in a residential area near Weymouth so this is a factor to consider. * Heating too high: sorry we like to ensure it is comfortable for our guests, we haven’t had this complaint before but there are 2 thermostats that control the temperature and underfloor heating in the kitchen and we left instructions in the property. * Step to the property is too high: i’m sorry but there isn’t much I can do about this, there is a photo of the front of the house and the steps for people to see * Misleading information about the area: not sure what is inaccurate here sorry * Thermostat on a radiator is broken - thanks for letting us know we will get that rectified this week Really saddened that you didn’t have a good stay and I hope our response puts some of these points into context. • "Beautiful house with everything you need for a perfect holiday, lovely and clean, great furnishings and very comfortable beds."

I would point out ( as we booked this property as it said there was an enclosed garden), that the one side of the garden which is hedged, does need to be fixed as our dog nearly escaped, as there are various holes along the hedge at ground level, which would take dogs out of the garden, so we could not leave our dog in the garden on her own, which was a shame. The house is perfectly situated for visiting towns and local beaches, in fact if you cross the road, go straight ahead and follow small path to beach, but take right hand path where the path forks, you will find a gorgeous little beach, away from the crowds. Great holiday, beautiful house.

Hi Angela, thanks for the feedback especially in relation to the hedge. We have put chicken wire under the hedge, staked it and attached it to the hedge to cover all gaps all the way across, and there is the wooden edging in front of that as well so it is fully secure now. Appreciate you letting us know and so pleased you had a nice stay. Thanks, Rob and Michelle Property Owner

Our first trip to Dorset and this property made it one to remember and one we'll definitely return to. Super comfortable, everything we needed for a great stay, and with absolutely stunning views across to Portland. I'm a keen runner and the 10km run from the property, down the Rodwell Trail (which is opposite the house), along the Spit Road at Chesil Beach and up through the quarry along the cliff tops to Portland Bill was breath taking in more ways than one. We managed to get three cars on the drive no problem. The owner was super helpful with any questions we had. The location of the house makes it great for quick and easy walks along the Rodwell Trail to Sandsfoot Castle and Weymouth.

  • "The fisherman was beautifully decorated and comfortable, I couldn't fault it bar a couple of minor issues : We didnt find the parasol umbrella for us to sit outside in the garden, had I had access to the shed in which I assume the mower may have been kept , I would have mowed the lawn."

The grass was quite long -for dog owners who will understand this long grass is not so good for cleaning up when poochie has an icky tum due to the change in water ;-) and the garden is not entirely enclosed. the left hand side of the garden doesnt not have a fence, only shrubs. For that reason we had to be outside with our pooch to keep an eye on her, whenever she was in the garden. So we couldnt have the bifolding doors open. There have been previous comments about lowering the curb to drive on to the small driveway, I would reiterate the same need too. Other than that, the weather was lovely for the most part, the surrounding area was nice and the people were nice and friendly too. The interior of the house is a dream, just as I would like to have my home. The beds were comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space, views of the sea from every room of the house, the shower was perfect. The kitchen was perfect, a dream kitchen. The house was so nice itself that just staying in was relaxing enough, we didn't feel too compelled to need to go out but for doing bits of shopping. ( we forgot a bag of dog food, which was annoying but it doesnt matter leave it for the next pooch visitor ;-) ) We would certainly be returning when we get the chance , hopefully next year.

Hi Aniece, thanks very much for the feedback, so pleased you liked the house and surroundings. Fully taking on board your comments. About the grass - we had just found a new gardener and we were 'in between gardeners' at the time, i'm so sorry as we are dog owners too and understand your point completely. Regarding the hedge, noted again. I had put in a small picket fence under the hedge to deter smaller dogs from going under but clearly this isn't enough so we will look into solutions again. Our Bernese Mountain Dog is 65 kg so wasn't ideal to test it out with :) Regarding the kerb, i've made enquiries with the council about this so hopefully it will be sorted should you hopefully visit again. Finally, if you do visit again please just send us a message if there is anything wrong as we will always do everything we can to ensure you stay is perfect. Many thanks, Rob and Michelle ps oh yes and the parasol is in the cupboard under the stairs. Property Owner

Parking is really for one car (picture doesn’t portray that) so if your expecting any friends to join you, you might have to review your parking options unless you have two small cars but other than that everything was excellent.

Thank you for your feedback Felicity, delighted you had a good stay. You're right that whilst 2 cars can go end to end on the driveway, it can be a little tight. To that end we are actually in the process of extending the driveway by a couple of metres over the coming weeks so this won't be an issue should you, hopefully, come to stay in the future. About the location

WYKE REGIS

Weymouth 2 miles; Dorchester 9 miles.

Wyke Regis is a village on the south western side of Weymouth that sits on the northern edges of Portland Harbour and reaches as far as the back of Chesil beach and The Fleet, just two miles from the centre of Weymouth. There are local shops, cafés and restaurants including the famous Crab House café, with it’s own oyster beds on the doorstep. The National Sailing School, an Olympic legacy, offers a wide variety of water sports and is just two miles away on the edge of Portland Harbour. The Fleet Lagoon that runs between Wyke Regis and Chesil beach is an important area for wildlife and there are many species of birds to be seen in the area, whilst Chesil beach is also a renowned spot for fishing. The Fleet is probably most famous for being the testing ground for Barnes Wallis’s bouncing bomb, immortalised in the film the Dam Busters. Wyke Regis is the perfect location from which to explore many of Dorset’s most iconic locations on the Jurassic Coast.
