Thankful that the weather was kind to us. The Milking Parlour is beautiful! Like home from home. The beds were comfy, plenty of extra blankets in case you need one. 2 bathrooms which was useful. Wonderful high ceilings. Garden area is lovely, we saw bunnies, deer, bats and a woodpecker! The garden is silent at night and pitch black with no light pollution - perfect for star gazers! The lovely hosts live in a house just up from The Milking Parlour, not intrusive at all. Very friendly and very helpful. Cheddar Gorge is about 20 mins away by car as is Glastonbury Tor and Village. There is a local pub The Ring O' Bells that is a lovely 15- 20 minute walk down the back lane past the Ford and a small farm. The pub is very friendly and serve lovely food! I would definitely recommend this place to stay and relax. Thank you again.

The cottage itself was clean and functional with everything you need to make a home from home, The hosts Pauline and Dave were very friendly and on hand if you needed anything but to be honest everything was just perfect, The welcome pack was handy and the fresh flowers were a nice touch, I had a chat to the hosts who were both interested in any feedback as they are keen to ensure everything about the property is up to expectations, My feedback to them was as above and the only thing I could say that wasn't positive for me personally was that the sofa although very nice and in excellent condition was to soft for me as I have a back problem but was perfectly fine for both my husband and son, I brought my folding garden chair with me which is my regular go to in such situations and so we were all happy, Overall a beautiful place in a wonderful location with friendly hosts what more could you ask for!

  • "The layout of the propriety is ok and functional."

However the double bed is not full size so someone over 5ft 5 will hang off the end of the bed and the mattress did not aid a good nights sleep being very soft . The sofas are old and uncomfortable and need updating , and overall there was dust and cobwebs accumulated from some time. The games room is also unclean especially underneath the sofa. I would recommend taking your own cot if taking a young child as the mattress is behind the sofa in the games room dirty and dusty. The kitchen is functional and clean and had most things you need. The welcome goods was much appreciated and useful when arriving for tea and toast.

Thankyou for taking the time to give feed back. I would just like to clarify a few points. Firstly the mattress stored in games room is not the cot mattress, as we had explained. The cot mattress is kept in the main house. The mattress in the games room is a full sized single which has been used by a regular guest who likes to camp out for a night. The bed is a standard double bed, as described in brochure. We may have missed some dust/ cobwebs behind the settee in games room. It's not often guests need to pull this out. I will endeavour to check. The barn conversion has very high beams which are regularly checked. As you can see from our reviews no guest has ever complained and we are always complimented on our cleanliness. The sofas are not old however we will look at them to check the suitability. The property

Wookey is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, nestled between the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels, just two miles from the cathedral city of Wells.

The stunning landscape is home to a diverse range of wildlife with excellent walks and cycle routes.

Within easy reach are many beautiful sandy beaches, stretching along the North Somerset coast and numerous visitor attractions.

All on one level, The Milking Parlour is an attractive, detached property; thoughtfully converted using local materials.

Lots of lovely original features remain, including wooden beams, colourful 200 year old Glastonbury roof tiles and stone drinking troughs; now transformed into interesting plant holders.

Inside, the lofty lounge with high raftered ceiling is flooded with light from the full height windows which run the length of the room.

The kitchen/diner opens onto the sunny patio at the side of the property, overlooking the owners' orchard; the backdrop to which is the stunning Mendip Hills.

Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one a wet room complete the living accommodation.

Converted from a further barn, the neighbouring games room with table tennis and table football is great fun for all ages.

Wells, England’s smallest city, is named after the springs which still bubble up today in the grounds of its splendid Bishop's Palace with its famous moat. Adjacent is the beautiful 12th century cathedral situated within a most attractive cathedral close and green. Nearby, Vicars Close is home to the oldest complete medieval street in Europe, and the quaint market square offers an array of interesting shops, boutiques and restaurants, and a colourful twice-weekly market. The surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides a wealth of scenic footpaths and rugged landscapes, and is a superb base for caving and rock climbing, and for road, biking and mountain biking. Nearby are the attractions of Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves, both offering great days out. The picturesque Somerset Levels, as well as mystical Glastonbury are also situated an easy drive away. The beautiful city of Bath, with its Roman Baths, Thermae Bath Spa, The Theatre Royal and wonderful shops, is under 30 miles away, as is the vibrant city of Bristol, which boasts a multitude of attractions, including The Zoo, Theatres, the Aquarium, the Arnol Fini Art Gallery and many more.
