The property

Enjoying captivating views across Carlingwark Loch, located in the foodie town of Castle Douglas is this well-appointed, all ground-floor holiday property, Simply Suite.

This perfectly positioned holiday accommodation is ideal for families seeking respite from their usual routines and to explore this tranquil part of Scotland.

After admiring the pretty views of the enchanting loch, head into the warmth of the property and spend your evening relaxing within the sitting room, where the patio doors offer seamless integration of the outside in and stunning views to enjoy from the comfort of the sofa.

Flick on the gas fire to allow a gentle warmth to fill the room as you sink into the sofa, and unwind amidst the elegant interiors.

Joining the space is the formal dining table, where you and your loved ones can indulge in a tasty takeaway or delight in a family favourite dish that was prepared within the well-equipped kitchen.

The chef of the group will be delighted by the quality range of appliances, arranged in a contemporary assortment, sure to encourage home-cooking for the duration of your stay.

During balmy evenings, why not take dining outdoors onto the decking, with the stunning backdrop of the loch to enjoy as you tuck in.

Once the sun has set, catch your rest within one of the two bedrooms, each boasting a sleek interior design, plenty of wardrobe storage for your belongings and served by a gleaming family bathroom, with a shower over bath, basin and WC.

Explore your surroundings further by enjoying a short stroll into the centre of Castle Douglas, an 18th Century market town, which has a growing reputation for being a Food Town, so you can expect a wide selection of places to eat and drink, as well as many independent shops selling local produce for you to take back to the dwelling to cook up a storm.

Be sure to spend some time at the picturesque Carlingwark Loch, offering an enjoyable circular walk or opportunities for watersports from the education centre.

During the summer months, travel to the Solway Coast, where you will be delighted to find miles of golden sandy beaches or look forward to exploring the island on the River Dee, home to the 14th Century Threave Castle, which can be reached by ferry.

For those feeling more active, explore the Galloway Forest Park and for watersports enthusiasts take a visit to Loch Ken.

For something more leisurely, you could spend time exploring the National Trust owned Threave Garden, House and Estate or take a day trip to the larger town of Dumfries, home to a plethora of amenities and attractions.

Bring your loved ones to Simply Suite to share a memorable stay in Scotland.

Where you’ll be staying

CASTLE DOUGLAS

Dalbeattie 6 miles; Kirkcudbright 9.5 miles; Dumfries 18 miles.

The attractive country town of Castle Douglas is nestled in the southwest of Scotland, in the Dumfries and Galloway region. Castle Douglas is known locally as the 'Food Town', playing host to a large selection of independent food shops, as well as a range of wonderful pubs and restaurants. The town provides access to the picturesque Solway Coast, with its miles of beautiful beaches and scattering of pretty fishing villages. Carlingwark Loch lies just south of the town, a large, freshwater lake, great for coarse fishing and sailing. Enthusiasts of water sports need look no further than Loch Ken and The Galloway Activity Centre. It offers sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, kayaking, canoeing, and a wobbly water park. Less than half an hour’s drive on the A713, it is an ideal place for a family or groups. Hop aboard a boat and venture to Threave Castle, perched on an island in the River Dee, and explore its glorious gardens elsewhere on the estate, open to the public all year round. Dumfries and Galloway is an area renowned for its outdoor activities including bird watching, mountain biking, fishing, star-gazing and golfing. Practise your swing on the 18-hole golf course situated in the grounds of the former 18th Century country mansion, Cally Palace. Pull on your walking boots and go hiking across west Scotland’s inspiring landscape, or sail along its wonderful coastline. Whatever you fancy for your holiday in Scotland, Castle Douglas is the perfect base for experiencing it all!
