  • "Great property in a peaceful location."

The property is clean, tidy, comfortable and well equipped. The heating is efficient and easy to control. Although the listing says there is private parking, this is incorrect but there is free parking available at the library which is close by so it isn't a problem.

  • "Very clean, practical and well located."

There is no off road parking as stated nb parking on pavements is illegal in Scotland. Bed isn't 5ft but twin beds very comfy. Well placed to see a clattering of jackdaws overhead around 10pm - an amazing sight.

  • "This is ideally suited property based in the small town."

Unfortunately the cleaners had not been instructed to come in to clean up after the previous occupier had left on the day I arrived. I was unable to use the main bedroom and had to spend more than an hour cleaning the house to my satisfaction. Not an ideal start to my holiday!!

Dear Guest, I am so sorry to read that this has happened. This is not what we expect from our cleaners and if we had known we would have ensured that we would have rectified the situation immediately as this really shouldn’t and hasn’t happened before. I can only send again our sincere apologies for such an awful start to your stay. Tricia Glover Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a great location with pubs, restaurants, cafes & shops close by."

The cottage itself is warm, comfortable & very well equipped. We cooked every day and the kitchen didn’t lack of anything. The shower was great & the water nice & hot although not the easiest to get in & out of if you have mobility issues & the towels were tiny! I would suggest bringing a bath sheet! The beds & pillows were comfortable although please note the main bed is a double not a king size as stated. The furniture is the living room was nice & comfortable but there was only 2 of us. The sofa is a 2 seater & then there is a chair so four adults would struggle to relax & watch tv but it wasn’t an issue for us. I think the cottage could benefit from a welcome pack. There was no information about recycling & heating. No instructions on using the oven. No emergency numbers for doctors or a dentist or the cottage owner/cleaner should something go wrong. We managed perfectly fine as we visit Scotland a lot so have an understanding of the recycling but it would have also been helpful to advise that there was a glass recycling bank right at the side of the house! We discovered this purely by accident. The only other thing to mention is that the only bathroom is upstairs so if you have mobility issues the stairs are quite steep when you need to use the facilities. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The price of the cottage offered great value for money.

  • "The house is very convenient and a very good location."

We enjoyed our stay, despite 4 rainy days in the week. I wanted to visit Drumlanrig when the house was open. We also found a lovey drive west via Moniaive which was beautiful. The house was well equipped in the main but would benefit from a grab rail over the bath to help stepping out after a shower. A footstool would be useful and the chair in the bedroom is much more comfortable than the small chair downstairs, could they be swapped?

  • "Beautiful holiday cottage, the whole cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable."

The bed and bed linen felt very good quality and everything in the property was maintained too a very high standard. The back garden was a sun trap which my children loved having breakfast in. The pictures do not do the cottage justice- it is much larger than the pictures make it appear and is very spacious. There was plenty of kitchen accessories, mirrors, chairs and everything you could possibly need. A real GEM!!! Would highly recommend! Thank you :-)

Very much appreciate your lovely comments. We spend quite a few weeks in the cottage ourselves and try to keep everything well maintained plus we love the location . Thank you again so happy you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Property is in a great location and well appointed."

There are just a few things lacking - mirrors, chairs in living room, wardrobes need to be secured to the wall, a bigger bed in the double room, plug sockets are too low to the floor to plug items in.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We have taken your comments on board and rectified matters as far as we can. There is now an additional mirror and chair. Extension lead to compensate for the low sockets and the wardrobes properly secured. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Thornhill has good facilities and a number of interesting shops and eateries. I was confused by the welcome email which talked about scanning the QR code in the property for 'track and trace' purposes. I never did find this code and I phoned the owner who had no knowledge of it!
