  • "The property was in a very good location and was clearly well taken care of."

Due to the hot weather we had to have the windows open most of the time and there were constantly work people wandering around outside the property the entire time so it was not particularly peaceful. Also the smaller bedroom with the shower is located by whatever the water goes through, so any time someone has a shower or runs the water there is a very loud continuous noise right next to the head of the bed.

  • "A lovely property in a perfect location - simply stroll out and enjoy the delights of Hadleigh!"

Surprisingly quiet given its central location. The property was very clean and comfortable - slightly old fashioned, but everything was of very good quality and the owners had thought of everything. We had a little difficulty finding the property initially as the instructions suggested a car park 150 yards from The George pub, but was actually more like 300 yards. The confusion was there was a public car park 150 yards from the pub, but not accessible from the road. A call to the owner gave more clarity and then we easily found the car park at the top of the high street. The actual car park itself was excellent with plenty of space and easy access to the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were very impressed with Hadleigh itself - a great selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants plus very friendly people. We will be back!

One point, which I left a note about- the ground floor bathroom needs a hand rail in the shower.

  • "Everything was perfect."

Lovely helpful hosts, very clean cottage and very comfortable. Perfect location for popping out on to the high street for provisions and meals. Royal Bengali Indian restaurant was good, Kings Head setting for a drink was good but avoid the food. The coast is only 30/40 minutes drive and lots of interesting National Trust places to visit. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place. It’s the best Sykes properties we have been in for ticking all the boxes. It’s quiet at night too for sleeping, always a must.

  • "What a lovely little hidden gem."

Such a quaint little house with lots of quirky features. The bedrooms were all exceptional, and all of them having en-suites was particularly nice. The kitchen was well stocked and all of the facilities worked well. We used this Lodge to get ready for my wedding, and the spacious, well lit living room was perfect as our Hair station. The thoughtful little touches were what really impressed me though - the board games, the cookies, the little outdoor area, the Quentin Blake wallpaper! All in all we had a lovely experience here and the owners were very helpful in providing all the information we needed for our stay. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you want to explore the stunning little town of Hadleigh.

It was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything that you need. We were treated to a homemade cake, biscuits, tea, coffee etc. There were even treats for the dog! Hadleigh high street is only a short walk away and has a good range of shops and restaurants. The area around Hadleigh is good for country walks and our dog loved it.

  • "The only issue that we had was on all the correspondance we had from Sykes stated that departure time on our last day was 10am so we planned our departure and journey home accordingly."

However on arrival at the cottage we were advised that the departure time was 9am a whole hour earlier. This was not impossible but did make our last morning more rushed. We would however still highly recommend the cottage and will probably stay there again ourselves. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated, the facilities were very good and the owners helpful. The overall experience was excellent.

Spotlessly clean and comfortable. The owners, although living next door at the end of their very lovely garden, do not intrude at all unless you need anything, then they could not be more charming, friendly and helpful and we would like to thank them for that. We love being able to walk into the town which provided us with everything we needed. The surrounding area is blessed with beautiful landscape and architecture with many places of interest to visit. We hope to return one day.

  • "Good visit to The Lodge at Hadleigh."

Pro's Great accomodation, very clean and ideal for our party of 6. On the High Street. with Parking and plenty of shops, pubs etc. Brochure of walks in the house, of which we did 3. The George pub was great, we had Sunday roast and another evening meal there, plus a daytime drink. Good food and very friendly. Minor problems with opening patio door and loss of WFI, dealt with quickly. Con Only minor in that it is on a busy road, and can be noisy at times, but I suppose this is offset by the town being on your doorstep.

  • "A very pleasant week at the lodge."

Well stocked kitchen with everything you could need. Plenty of bathrooms, which would be perfect for a large family. It was a super hot week and fortunately all the upstairs had big windows. The only issue with that was that for light sleepers, it meant you really heard the road noise. Hadleigh has a lot of motorbikes and Barry boys using the high street. I do wish we’d know the Lodge was a former hotel - it makes it a little less homely with the room numbers on doors and towel reuse note up.

  • "Our group of four + 1 dog spent a week in "The Lodge" and what a lovely week it was."

Everything was as described. As I am slightly disabled, I didn't venture upstairs, but our friends who did sleep up there said it was excellent. Plenty of hot water everywhere. On the ground floor en-suite to the twin bedroom, lovely bathroom with powerful shower over the bath. Kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. Lounge/dining room with dining table/chairs, 2 settees, big TV with freeview. Nice little patio with table and chairs. Not very secure for a small dog but if the dog is well behaved like ours, not a big problem. The town itself has plenty of interesting and useful shops not just Tacky "Gift" shops, if any. We ate in the "George" on every night bar one. We ate in the Kings Head pub/restaurant on the first night and I had a Ribeye steak destroyed, it's just a bit further away from the "The Lodge". Once was enough. On the last night I had a Ribeye in the George and it was to die for, with a bread and butter pudding to follow. There is a restaurant at the rear (no dogs) but you are welcome in the bar with your well behaved dog, while they eat the dog treat biscuits offered by the staff. The staff were attentive and the local clientele were really friendly. Our friends said there are some very nice walks in the area and we all travelled to many historical sites and places of interest, meeting such friendly and welcoming people. Besides all that, this holiday destination is in our estimation "Highly Recommended" but I am biased because I've been there and done that and would willingly go back again.
