"We had a comfortable stay at the cottage and slept well."
Great location. Wanted for nothing. Always able to find parking nearby after a day out. Used the train to visit along the Mayflower line and Colchester.

"I loved the quirky nature of this lovely 18th century cottage."
The retrieval of the keys and the storing of them after my visit was a little complicated and I had to input the code several times to open the box. Harwich Old Town is lovely and I am determined to return next year during some warmer months!

"Super stay."
Lovely bed, I had seven nights good sleep. Thanks for the chocolate and mulled wine! The shower pipe hose needs replacing. It was detached (not me!) and everything else was perfect. regards CT

"I have used Sykes and cottages for you for about 16 years now and was extremely disappointed with this cottage that you gave a 4."
6 rating my wife wanted to go home on Sunday, no oven ,a TERRIBLE shower and an extremely uncomfortable bed,I am not a moaner, lived in Africa for 40 years and can rough it,won't use Sykes again
Dear Mark, thank you for taking the time to leave our cottage a review. It is a shame your stay did not meet your expectations. The cottage has a thorough description of facilities on the website. It is clearly noted that the cottage does not have an oven or a full shower. Maybe when booking you missed this detail. The comfort found in any bed is very subjective and a personal preference clearly the bed did not suit you or your wife although many recent reviews have mentioned how comfortable the bed is. What is one to do. Property Owner

"A good cottage, ideally situated just a short walk to the harbouside and pubs."
Facilities good apart from the shower, which was in an awkward position and didn't have a very good flow. I understand that with an old building it's not always easy but I think a shower cubicle would have been preferable. We did have an issue with the television, it took us a while to work out the correct configuration. More comprehensive instructions would have been handy.

"Wonderful property, with lots of attention to little details that were really appreciated."
Superbly placed with lots to do within walking (or walk and ferry) distance. Loved the peace and quiet, and the secluded patio garden. However, the bed mattress provided little support and meant nights were not comfortable. I`m sad that this means we can`t give the top rating and recommendation (which we otherwise would), because apart from this, it really is a gem of a place. Oh - and parking was never an issue.
Thank you John for leaving us a review of our cottage and we are really happy that you enjoyed your stay and that the small touches were appreciated. It’s a shame the bed was too soft for you, it’s difficult to judge each guests personal preference but we have taken this on board. Again we thank you for taking the time to give the cottage feedback. Best wishes Property Owner

"This cottage was just what we needed."
It is in a quiet street with no through traffic and so lovely and relaxing. The cottage was very pretty and comfortable and had everything we needed. My initial concern about parking was unfounded as there was always plenty of free parking in nearby streets. There are good places to eat nearby, The Alma pub and The Pier restaurant both do exquisite food, the Hanover pub does good traditional meals in huge portions, and the café on the pier was friendly and convenient. Harwich has some good historic attractions, we would recommend a visit to Harwich Redoubt Fort. Further afield, Sutton Hoo, and Saint Peters Church on the wall are definitely worth a visit.
