  • "I was disappointed with the comfort of the sofas as this had been mentioned several time in reviews but I hope it had been resolved, due to this we left two days early."

They're obviously needing replacement as they are very hard and low to get up from. There were several minor issues , the cooker needed a good clean as it smelt horribly of burnt fat when used. Mugs chipped and left dirty( I know this is not the fault of the owner) No bread knife , I was offered replacement or refund, decided to purchase as did not want to wait, have left it in house. The electric radiators in bathrooms, we could not find how to turn them on but as it was warm we did not worry. Only one lot of hanging rails in bedrooms and no storage in the twin room. The garden was surrounded by huge nettles so access to the wood was difficult. Our dog did manage to explore a little. The gutters overflow in heavy rain so using the kitchen exit was impossible There have been several comments made by other visitors in the visitors book but these have not been read. This was a very attractive property but needs some love .

  • "Lovely converted barn in the middle of quintessential English countryside and little towns and villages."

Not far from Cambridge and from Stagnated Airport. All as described, beds were comfortable, a lot of space inside and outside. Recommended. One slight minus - no BBQ. But the kitchen is lovely and well equipped.

Really comfortable house that is beautifully converted in a lovely area. We had everything we needed - a hand blender in the kitchen would be useful, but no great miss!

The Barn has lovely original features, with all the modern features you need. Lovely comfy beds, with crisp white bedding and soft towels. Kitchen has everything you need for cooking, so breakfast and dinner was a pleasure. The outside space is just lovely, our dog was in heaven with lots of exploration and run around the huge field! He now needs a week to sleep

  • "4 night stay in this beautiful, spacious barn, loved the real, decorated Xmas tree, so cosy as soon as we entered."

After getting the hang of the wood burner, amazing heat & added to the ambiance. Very well equipped for cooking, etc. Beds, comfortable & warm. Surrounded by nature, quiet & peaceful with great dog walks. The available pair of wellies were most welcome. The only negative for us were the two sofas, uncomfortable, especially for elderly people, as having to use alot of pillows to support. Would definitely stay again x

Very well presented in a nice quiet location, only a short drive away from Finchingfield. We would happily book to stay there again.

  • "Great place, loverly location, totally relaxing ."

Quite location within 2 miles of a loverly village with pubs and tea rooms, only 8 miles from the towns of Braintree, GT Dunmow and Haverhill. Beds were very comfortable and you can see and feel the quality put into making it a great place to visit. The only small thing that needs upgrading is the sofas, slightly low and soft and us elder folk felt like we had to climb out of them, again not major. Will visit again.

  • "Our drive to the barn took us through some of the prettiest villages in Essex passing dozens if not hundreds of beautiful thatched cottages."

The nearby village of Finchingfield is pretty with no less than three pubs as well as tea shops and a post office/local shop. Although the barn was cold upon arrival we soon got it warmed up and the excellent insulation meant that it stayed warm after that. It took us a few days to sort out exactly how to keep the wood burner in overnight and after a day out but once we mastered it then we were toasty all the time (obviously necessary in January!) Some drawer space in two of the three bedrooms would have been useful. This wasn’t something that spoiled our holiday but it would have made it even better. We were lucky enough to see the family of deer feeding in the adjacent field and we were also rather excited to see a badger. We had a lovely holiday in the barn and despite the previous comments we would definitely return.

  • "Overall al lovely property, we had an amazing time!"

There is loads of space, and the location is lovely, and the woodburner provided a good focus to the living room and provided plenty of heat. One small point: It would have been nice if the beds had been king size rather than double.

  • "What a fantastic holiday home."

A huge main room, a great kitchen and 3 good sized bedrooms. Bathroom upstairs and a really useful downstairs loo too. Also a really big & useful boot room on entry. There is a huge parking area and good grassed areas too. Best of all a small woodland and a lovely meadow. We saw deer in the meadow several times. All this is safely gated from the road. The log burning stove kept us warm (but the central heating didn’t come on....we have alerted owners to this) We were left loo rolls, cleaning equipment, tea & some biscuits and a few other basics...thank you. Probably the best holiday “cottage” we have ever booked and we are very likely to book again.

  • "Coleman’s barn itself is a lovely property and in a beautiful location but there are some improvements that we feel need to be made for today’s clientele."

    1. The television is exceptionally small for the size of property and number of guests and we were amazed to find no live tv. Even my 87 year old mother in law has free view. 2. The broadband reception running from Vodafone had very poor reception and on several occasions failed to work in the evening. 3. When staying for more than a week, I would have expected a drop off of clean bedding and towels 4. The stove hadn’t been cleaned it looked like for a long time. We had to empty the grate twice and clean the glass doors so we could see the beautiful flames.

  • "We loved our two weeks at Coleman's Farm Barn."

It is located in a beautiful rural location yet with easy access to many adorable villages with lovely pubs and often a local shop or co-op for supplies although all the main supermarkets are in neighbouring towns 20 minutes away. The Barn is spacious and newly renovated so a perfect place to stay and Nell and her family have provided everything you need to get the most out of your stay. We were happy with our long walks in the gorgeous surrounding countryside with our dogs and some days eating out and other days a BBQ in the garden. If you love rural you will love this outstanding rural retreat
