Stylistically furnished combining old with new. So nice to have everything on your doorstep. We had some lovely meals in the restaurants which are only a few minutes walk away. A fab welcome pack from Stuart . Lovely view of the estuary. It is on our list of a return visit.

  • "Perfect! The cottage is really lovely and very comfortable for two, and has everything you could possibly need."

Stuart was a wonderful host, making us feel so welcome and giving us plenty of tips for the local area. The location is ideal - close to town, close to the estuary, and a short walk along the road up to Mistley station - one of the loveliest little railway stations I've seen. We might be back!

I have a mobility issue but found that all the nice pubs/restaurants were within walking distance. My wife enjoys walking and found lots of interest to see. The cottage is very well presented and is a great credit to the owner who is a nice, considerate and helpful man.

Lots to do, friendly town with great shops, pubs and restaurants. The cottage is well equipped with everything and more that you might need and is spotlessly clean. The welcome pack was a real treat. Highly recommend this cottage and I would definitely book again.

A perfect little cottage with a view of the estuary upstairs and downstairs. We wanted for nothing. Everything we needed was on our doorstep, and the bus stop was just a few feet away if we wanted to have a day out.

We enjoyed our week very much.

  • "Superb cottage."

Very comfortable. Great location with a view of the river from the living room and bedroom. Loved the real fire. The welcome pack was a nice touch and very tasty. Stuart - the host - was very helpful with advice on what to do in the area and had some great suggestions. Manningtree is a nice little town with decent pub, coffee shops, restaurants, a small Tesco and a large Coop all in walking distance. The cheese stand on the Saturday market is worth a visit. And the walk along the estuary has amazing views.

From April to September the town plays host to a charming, monthly vintage market showcasing antiques and vintage collectables; and on colder days the town has its own cooking school and nearby pottery school. Guests can partake in a variety of watersports on the estuary or can head to Alton Water where they can take to the reservoir with kayaks, paddle boards and canoes. Explore the coast at Frinton-on-Sea, where you can while the days away upon its golden sands, splash around in the refreshing sea and even hire a beach hut. Alternatively head into Colchester to traverse its 11th century castle and the Natural History Museum, or visit either of the town's golf clubs before ambling through Castle Park or Highwoods Country Park.
