  • "Arrived to find the property had not been cleaned from previous guests which disturbed our stay, we had had a long day at work and had to contact the housekeepers who arrived very promptly but due to rushing they missed various things like fag butts on tables etc."

Next day we tried to watch telly of an evening to discover you HAVE to have an firestick/amazon account to access any TV application. Very poor design for a holiday let where every user is different. Had to go away and get someone to make us an account just to be able to access other iplayers. Would seem the owner is not equipt to run this property as a successfully functioning holiday rental. No apology from Sykes or the owner either.

  • "The property indoors was delightful but getting in on arrival was awkward - no reference to where to find the keybox and when we did spot it through the foliage on the gate, it was difficult to open the gate as after sliding the visible bolt, we couldn’t see what else was stopping it opening."

We were hardly able reach over to unlatch it. Trying to input the code was a nightmare bending down double, unable to see whether the right number had gone in. On leaving the key, it was raining and I was under a constantly running overflow from the gutter. Instructions and more appropriate positioning are sorely needed as is repair to the gutter. The bungalow is otherwise comfortable and very well equipped. A friend called to see us after a couple of days and in helping with parking on the gravel area, we were appalled to find the accumulation of bags of rubbish between the garage and boundary fence. The nearest one had spilled and there was cosmetic and sanitary detritus on the ground. We had contacted Esme about our own rubbish disposal and were told Friday was collection day and that there should have been a notice on the kitchen wall. There wasn’t and there was no collection on Friday. It seems it was Wednesday.

  • "The cottage was lovely and a good size for our party of six."

It was spoilt by some of the issues we had. No instructions for putting out the waste or recycling. We stacked our waste at the rear of the garage along with previous waste that had not been disposed of. It was very smelly and an obvious health hazard. Packet of rolls with a 2023 date on found in back of cupboard. The floors in the showers and in the bath were very slippery when wet. Bath mats or anti slip system would solve this. There was mould on the ceiling in the ensuite bathroom and adjacent bedroom. More saucepans of various sizes needed. Helpful, easy to read advice on how to use microwave , oven etc, Used sanitary items left in bedroom bin. Single toilet seat cracked and stained. Not able to use outside seating area as it needed cleaning to get rid of green algae. Because the front door is very stiff to open and close handles would be very helpful. The keybox was very hard to find on arrival and so low down was difficult to use. Instructions on where it was located would be useful.

  • "Was a lovely property but was very tired and need of a good deep clean/maintenance."

Is this not considered before the busy start of the holiday season. I wouldn’t know where to start my list and picture/video evidence of how poor things were which was a shame because it was a lovely place. All I can say at the moment is pet free, dog bed and dog poo garden!!!

  • "No host details are shared with us."

Only housekeeping details shared and the number and email not reachable. House needs deep cleaning. Folder for property was too detailed. Need to simplify. Beside of these kids love the house during the easter holiday. Quite place.

  • "The Cloakroom ceiling light did not work The moving metal parts to the main entrance door quite stiff Otherwise the property was comfortable and well maintained with a very attractive living area."

Unfortunately the wet weather meant we could not make use of the garden.
