  • "Great house in a lovely spot."

    Owner responsive and helpful.

  • "The property is fantastic, suited our party of three families perfectly, having the space for the kids to relax upstairs was superb, as well as lots of family meals around the table."

Really well equipped, we couldn’t fault anything. The pulley is especially fantastic given the amount of washing we had after walks on the beach and swimming.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback; we are delighted you had a good stay. Property Owner

  • "We booked this property as it was advertised as a high spec property."

The location, the views and the space were all excellent. However, as the previous reviewer has stated, the maintenance of the property is very disappointing. In addition to the broken shower, the lack of lightbulbs, the broken microwave and oven seal, the broken sink and the lack of toiletries mentioned in the previous review we also encountered a number of issues: the property was unclean throughout including a stained and orange mould covered shower curtain, the sofas are ripped, there are multiple chairs missing in both livingrooms, two dining room chairs were broken, the owners had a number of packages delivered while we were there which took up a lot of space, there’s a leaking vent which has been covered in brown tape, the carpets are stained, the curtains are hanging off the wall in one bedroom and the kitchen worktop is in a general state of needing upgraded. The most upsetting part of the property was the state of the decking, a number of the boards were very rotten and bits were sticking up. As we had 2 toddlers with us that made it unsafe to use. We have raised these issues with Sykes and provided photographic evidence of all these issues (which we are unable to add here but will on another site) and have eventually received a 10% refund but we are very disappointed and feel unable to book the property again next year.

Hello, we are very sorry the Lodge wasn’t in the state we expect it should be for our guests. Although we take exception with a number of the items listed in your feedback, we do recognise many to have unfortunately been true (we were the next to stay in the Lodge after you). All of the issues raised, where appropriate, have now been or are in the process of being rectified, which I hope if evidenced by the most recent review we have had. Fyi we were advised by Sykes as to the appropriate levels of compensation for the issues you faced. Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for the Lodge not being in the state it should have been in for your stay. Property Owner

  • "Clachan Lodge is potentially a beautiful house in a stunning location, but the maintenance was woefully poor."

An en-suite sink were blocked, one toilet, a shower screen, the shower room, the utility room tap and the microwave were all unusable. There were few functioning bath/sink plugs. We have had no response from the owners.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback and we are sorry the lodge wasn’t in the state we hope it is for our guests. If there is an excuse, then it is derived from the distance between us and the Lodge as well as the difficulty in getting equipment and trades to the property quickly as and when things do go wrong. We have resolved or are in the process of resolving all the issues mentioned in your feedback. Property Owner

  • "I've used this same property on 10 previous occasions."

It's a stunning location and a lovely place, it's well fitted out and has a lovely open space in the ground floor area for dining and relaxing. However, over the last 3 years there are a variety of maintenance issues that have not been addressed and they are slowly increasing. At £3000.00 per week, you would expect these issues to be addressed, not just left. Upstairs The left bedroom no bulb in bedroom light or in the lamp. Upstairs bathroom shower out of order for last 2 years. Upstairs bathroom no plug for sink. Only 1/3 of a toilet roll left in bathroom Downstairs The microwave wasn't working & the the oven seal was hanging loose. The tumble dryer filters were full of sand we cleaned them out but needs doing properly. There are no plugs in several sinks in the ground floor bedrooms. Replacement toilet seat that’s been fitted in one room but is loose. Two bedrooms were left with just half a toilet roll, no spares were left. We replaced toilet rolls and washing up liquid as none was left. Many of these are minor things but not what you would expect for a high end property costing around £3k per week.

We really appreciate your feedback and valued custom and can assure you we are carrying out some urgent and essential maintenance whilst the house is vacant this season to ensure these issues are dealt with. Property Owner

  • "Great home in a great location."

Has all the amenities you need in a vacation home, much better than staying in a hotel. Owner was quick to respond to all questions or issues we had with the home and resolved quickly. I would definitely stay here again!!

  • "Excellent accommodation for our family of 12."

Superb views over clachan sands. Very well equipped and when we had a small problem the person at the end of mobile number responded very quickly. One of the best houses we have been to. Thank you very much.

  • "Overall the property was excellent, facilities and equipment and quantity of equipment for 12 people was more than adequate."

very well designed property and to hard fault. Minor issues to help accommodate the holiday experience, it would appear that the towel rails didn’t work but difficult to find out why not. More information on the heating system in the information pack would be useful and also on the recycling. Improved lighting in the kitchen certainly for washing up would be great. Views and walking to the beach are fabulous and a four-legged friends had an absolute fabulous time thank you
