  • "Location perfect, quiet and set away from the road."

The views were outstanding. A lovely property, very spacious and clean. It had everything we needed and more. Cleaning and washing/drying facilities (although we did not use them) were provided including detergent. Full size dishwasher and plenty of crockery meant we only used it twice, we took our own dishwasher tablets but there were some provided if needed. There was two of us and only used downstairs rooms. The property was big enough to accommodate a family of 6. Minor negative was the very steep driveway which may be an issue if it is icy.

And we had a wonderful time seeing otters, seals, and all manner of water birds down on the loch. Would definitely return.

  • "Lovely and comfortable cottage on the edge of the Loch."

Good location, well fitted out and quiet too as set beneath the A87. Weather typically Scottish Highlands, but that did not diminish our enjoyment. My constructive suggestion for improvement - clear the garden area down to the loch to make it a little more child friendly.

Would love to return. Only improvement would be to provide some cooler duvets for some of us hot sleepers, and we always prefer 100% cotton bed linen too.

Thank you for your feedback Catherine and we're delighted that you had a lovely time at Cuillin Shores. We will certainly look to have available some extra light duvets for the summer months. The majority of our linen is 100% cotton but we will keep this in mind when we replace any of our linen in the future. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you to Cuillin Shores again in the future. Property Owner

We avoided the honeypot sites and it’s still possible to find beautiful quiet locations. The weather was brilliant, giving great views of Skye’s dramatic scenery. We enjoyed boat trips from Elgol and Portree. Roger and Liz, Norfolk

A well kitted out kitchen and very comfortable beds. We were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins/porpoises on the far side of the loch; seals basking just along the shoreline; herons flying to and fro and even luckier to watch a sea otter having his fishy lunch. Thank you for the welcoming tea tray and the opportunity to stay in such a wonderful place.

Well presented and spacious. Great Wi-Fi!! Very well equipped which made our stay very comfortable. As did the modern furniture. Fab location for exploring the whole island. Would highly recommend this cottage. And we would definitely like to stay here again if we came back to Skye. Only improvement we would have liked was better access to the water. Also, not sure if this is a Sykes thing but we don’t like having to strip beds when we’re on holiday. Especially with a 10am check out time!

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to let you know that Cuillin Shores now has a path at the front of the house for guests to have direct access to the sea Loch. In response to your comment about check out procedures, as Covid rules have now relaxed we have removed the requirement for guests to strip beds before departure. We had a wonderful few weeks, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The fireplace, amenities and the surrounding area were just amazing. The location of the cottage was perfect for sightseeing, from the picnic table to surrounding walks, and it was perfect for getting around the island too, as it’s so close to the road (yet so quiet!). The cottage was immaculate, and very cosy - blankets, bedding and pillows all perfect! It felt like home from home. Even though it was just us two, the cottage offered many other rooms so it would be perfect for bigger families, too. So much was provided for us, from washing up packs to washing airers! We couldn’t fault our stay at all, and we are already planning on when we might come back for another stay! :-) Thank you for looking after us so well!

House was extremely comfortable and very clean with great facilities. The only drawback was the parking. We only had one car. The driveway was steep and the turning area small. Over the course of our week we saw dolphins, seals and various seabirds out of the living room windows. Great Wifi, but no Mobile signal for phones. Excellent showers, but found the halogen cooking hob challenging. Well positioned for the majority of the places we wanted to visit, and would definitely use again.

Thank you for your comments. Just to add that mobile signal can be picked up in parts of the house but reception due to our location isn't great. The house does have a landline telephone for guest use for this reason i.e should there be an emergency or you need to be reached. The WifI is also very good and calls can be made using this facility. We have not had similar issues with the cooking hob but will monitor guest feedback and will look to replace it if necessary.
