Jammer dat er zo weinig voorzieningen waren ( voldoende stoelen en een tafel) om ook van de tuin te kunnen genieten.
De keuken is ronduit versleten. Bovendien waren heel wat spullen die in de kasten stonden niet proper. Het is niet fijn als je na een autorit van 1200 km ergens toekomt en alles moet beginnen afwassen. Het verblijf op zich kost voldoende en mag dus minstens proper zijn!

"This was the halfway point in our 2 week trip."
Our plan was to spend a few days relaxing, sleeping in and catching up on laundry for the second half. What a beautiful place to do exactly that! Let’s be clear, it is WAY THE HECK out there but perfect if you are looking for something off the beaten path. 2 downstairs bedrooms were well appointed, kitchen well stocked if you are planning to cook ( but know the nearest grocery store is over 30 min away so plan ahead) and washer and dryer were great as well. The upstairs is well suited for children, but the beds were a little small for adults and not particularly comfortable. The views were spectacular and the cows next door were perfect neighbors! I would only add that more toilet paper should have been available, and maybe wood for the fireplace. Otherwise, it was perfect for our group!

"Fantastic house, Gorgeous location."
Great facilities and dogs loved the garden. Unfortunately we did experience no heat or hot water for 2 days because oil ran out however the maintenance guy Anthony was great and made sure the oil was filled and the boiler was working again as quick as he could so A++ for Anthony thank you so much. Would come back as was a comfortable house for us and reasonably priced.

"We had a lovely break in Skye and stay at the cottage, which had amazing views."
What visitors have to take into account, is that it is roughly 5 or 6 miles along a single single take road. The cottage itself is ideal for a family to stay in, there are 2 bathrooms, lovely large kitchen, the bedrooms are well furnished.
I would say that what the cottage needs is a few issues sorted - the double glazing needs replaced, it needs fully redecorated, the outside of the cottage needs repainted white also the blinds in the ground floor bathroom need replaced. The company that cleans the cottage did a amazing job, the cottage was spotless.

The cottage is in a stunned location but could do with a complete overhaul to reach it's potential when we arrived at the cottage it was very cold we noticed due to the storms the wood burning stove was damaged and waiting for repairs the only heat source was the oil heating which ran out of oil after a few days resulting in no heating or hot water in the middle of a yellow weather warning not ideal the guy from the property management company was excellent 10/10 and drove out in atrocious conditions to try and fix the problem on the plus side it resulted in some very cold swimming. Skye is a very special place and to see nature's might and ferocity in such a dramatic landscape was a treat

"We were very disappointed, we never got an errata letting us know the fire was broken."
We knew the weather would be bad and chose a property with a fire because we would be stuck inside. The property is definitely a low 3 star with pet hair everywhere and spider webs all over the ceilings.
The beds were however very comfortable and the property manager was friendly and dropped us off proper baking trays so we could at least cook a proper Christmas dinner we were appreciative of that.
Skye was beautiful but we won't be back at this property.

"The property was warm and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay at Hebridean View."
It is in a spectacular position overlooking the sea out towards the Western Isles. The house was clean and tidy and well equipped, the beds were comfortable, and we did enjoy our stay.
We did identify a list of minor repairs / maintenance issues that we passed to the owners agent on our departure, but we are unclear if these have been highlighted previously / now been fixed. The promised "welcome pack" of bread, milk and eggs wasn't in the house on arrival so we had to make our own arrangements, which was additional 1 hr round trip to the shop.

"The nearby property managers (both of them) were unresponsive when we had questions, and one was quite rude when they did finally reply."
The inside of the property had clearly not been cleaned well, the kitchen was not stocked as promised, and there was barely any toilet tissue.

"Great views, let down by very poor property maintenance."
Great area for exploring and walking, but a car is a must. Very comfortable bed in main bedroom at front. Good sized shower and very nice Jacuzzi in main bathroom. Excellent fenced in large garden for dogs to roam. Grass had been cut so easy to clean up after the dogs do their thing. Outside tap for washing dogs, but you need to bring your own hose pipe. One TV in lounge with FreeSAT and dvd player. Internet connection with WiFI but slow speed, 2.8Mbits download, 0.3Mbit upload. Ok for browsing but could sometimes have issues streaming. Comfortable sofa and love the old wall clock. Fairly clean and tidy inside the property. Now for the not so good stuff: The oil fired boiler which is located in the porch, is leaking keresene into the base of the boiler. Over powering keresene fumes in the porch and kitchen, which is potentially dangerous. The property only has one entrance/exit where the leaky boiler is. In the event of a fire only other exit is via windows. The Kitchen window is broken and unable to open to ventilate the kitchen. The soffits below the roof are missing and/or broken with birds nesting in the roof space. The RCD trips the electrical power to the whole house when it rains due to faulty wiring in the lighting circuit. Blown double glazing (5 panes). Nice large Rangemaster cooker but again in need of service and repairs. One hob Burns with yellow flame instead of blue. Three of the hobs don't have working spark ignition. Lighter and matches provided. No welcome food pack as mentioned in the welcome letter. Cutlery was actually dirty, not just stained but had food on multiple utensils as if it had been used then just put back in the drawers ! (This could have been previous guests, cleaners should inspect cutlery). With the above issues resolved I would have given 5 stars, but unfortunately with those issues only gets 2 stars.

"The cottage was amazing, clean, and fully equipped."
We had a great time, jacuzzi was perfect after long walks. There is a small issue with the oil heater leak but we have the windows open to enjoy our time.
Will recommend it to others.

"Very nice property with a stunning view to the see."
It is ideally located to go to the best restaurants of the island. I loved the jacuzzi. Unfortunately there was a strong heating oil smell in the house, probably because some fault with the heating system. All in all we had a very nice stay at this property.

"Having seen some negative reviews of the cottage since booking our stay, we were not sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised."
The cottage was very clean, and incredibly well equipped. There were seven adults (and two dogs) in our party, and there was ample room for all of us, either in the lounge or the kitchen. The lawn was closely mown, the garden was tidy with no dog mess, and the views were simply stunning. There are some minor maintenance issues (for example, the kitchen window didn't open, and the boiler was a bit smelly) but these were more than compensated for by the other facilities, such as a fantastic shower, good wifi, tumble dryer (important on Skye!).

"This property is filthy and extremely poorly maintained."
When we arrived at the property we had to spend three hours cleaning it before we could even contemplate unpacking our belongings.
The property has windows that don't open and that are blown so you can't see out of them, it is full of dog hairs on the furniture, it has leaks from the moment you walk in, the sofas are uncomfortable to sit on, the bath side is hanging off, light bulbs aren't replaced in the kitchen, there was tissue under the beds, kitchen surfaces were full of old food and there was dog faeces in the garden.
The only redeeming part of the property is it's beautiful location overlooking the sea. This property is so incredibly poorly maintained and unclean that I felt understandably I had to complain about my stay there. The owners and Sykes cottages ignored my comments and didn't offer any explanation why the property was let out in such an appalling state. All I can recommend to other potential guests is please don't book here!

"Really lovely property with everything you could wish for for a great stay."
Provided lots of helpful information in the welcome pack. I see another reviewer complained about dog mess outside - well there was none during our stay so I can only assume they had the misfortune of following someone who didn’t pick up for their pet. Very cosy cottage with a huge kitchen and all the creature comforts in a picture perfect location. Fantastic walks right on the doorstep and some great sights a short drive away. Couldn’t fault it. And there were dishwasher and washing machine tablets If you forgot to bring your own, as well as a well stocked and frequently replenished spice rack. Absolutely perfect.

"On the good side: Lovely view from kitchen and bedrooms."
Nice decor and comfortable chairs. Good kitchen appliances and bed in front downstairs bedroom very comfortable (didn't use back downstairs bed). Excellent log burner. Bedding and towels were nice quality. Small gripes: Large front gas ring on cooker burns with yellow flame and put soot all over a saucepan... Also electric spark for lighting gas rings doesn't work on all the gas rings... The otherwise very good cooker and ovens really needs a service. No washing powder, fabric conditioner or dishwasher tablets were provided . Kitchen window doesn't open, nor does one of the bathroom windows . New oil boiler works great but very strong smell of oil in the porch where boiler is sited... Because the kitchen window doesn't open and we couldn't leave the porch open due to the smell, the kitchen got steamy on occasions. Jacuzzi bath was amazing but couldn't work out how to adjust the power of the jets so a bit like bathing in a hurricane. Also one of the jet nozzles kept popping out . Upstairs single bed in end bedroom mattress was uncomfortable. WiFi code card missing from back of the bt WiFi router, although a call to the service manager solved this as he told us it was also written on the bottom of the router.... But please update your "helpful information" in this regard for future tenants. Despite these gripes, we enjoyed our stay, until rain stopped play for the last two days.

"Hebridean view is a very well kept cottage in a great location, very peaceful and remote and nearby neighbours very friendly."
My parents (who are elderly) and have been visiting Skye for many years (approx 30yrs +in motor homes were really joyed to stay in a very comfy,cosy cottage) and myself included. cant fault the facilities. All in all perfect retreat to wind down and relax. On a down side disappointed with the garden and view from the kitchen window . Thinking about booking for next year.

Cleaning not done very well at all. Dishwasher full on arrival.Garden lawn not cut for ages so our dog couldn't use it.
Also experienced nearly all day power cut, caused by the electric key not been entered correctly!
To be honnest this is the first time we have been disappointed by a cottage we booked via your website, so hoping this is just a one off...

"Although the house met all our expectations."
The garden proved to be unusable overly long grass absolutely full of Dog poo. We travelled with our dog and selected this property because of the garden. We were forced to take the dog off site where we could clean up after him. Clearly previous visitors had not respected the policy of cleaning up after your pet. I would be very concerned if families with young children stayed at this property.

"Had read previous reviews regarding long grass, which we didn’t see as a problem but the previous occupants dog mess in the grass and on the path certainly was."
Was quite excited to find a tin of shortbread in the living room but turned out the tin just contained the packaging and a few crumbs ( presume also from the previous occupants ). Boiler was not working when we arrived late on Friday night so no hot water for showers after a 12 hour journey. A phone call to the caretaker resulted in instructions how to restart the boiler which I then had to do on a daily basis during our holiday. In general the cottage is very dated and is in need of TLC which is a real shame as the cottage is in a fantastic location with wonderful sea views and has so much potential.

"The cottage was lovely and it is in a beautiful location, however, the garden was completely unusable due to the length of the grass which had not been cut for a very long time."
We contacted the caretaker who explained that their usual gardener was currently unable to work due to a recent operation. Not having use of the garden was quite an annoyance as we had our dog with us. If we'd had young children with us, the state of the garden would have had a much bigger negative impact. The garden is an important feature when we are choosing a cottage. I would have expected to have been informed if it was not usable.

"The cottage is located in the most perfect position."
However, what let it down was the garden. The grass was that long we could not use the space. We booked this property as we were bringing our two dogs and wanted an enclosed space for them. The space was not able to be used. This was very disappointing. We addressed this with the property manager and was told that the gardener had had to have an operation. I feel that the property manager could have completed this task. The decor is tired and could do with updating.

"The experience of booking was excellent, very easy and personalised."
I had bad experiences at a number of other firms but Sykes were excellent all the way through the process. The pre arrival information was very thorough and helpful.
The property is located in a wonderfully rural setting overlooking the sea and it would be easy to not see another person or car all day. When we went in May we had 20 hours of sunshine, fabulous sunsets and fields full of orchids and birdsong. Trumpan church is 400metres away, a wonderfully evocative place. A long trip right to the edge of the UK but worth every mile and every penny

"We booked this house very late after enjoying the previous week at a cottage further north."
The house sits at the very end of the Waternish peninsular on Skye and thus is remote is served by narrow but perfectly usable roads.
The nearest shop is about 25/30 minutes away in Dunvegan but that was explained in the description so no surprises
The nearest supermarket in in Portree which is approaching an hour away
The location is staggering with uninterrupted and full panoramic views across the Minch to all the Hebrides IslandS
The house has all the facilities needed including a full laundry. It was toasty warm, with plenty of hot water.,the beds were comfortable with nice bedding and all the towels were fluffy and new
There was even a spa bath
There was a TV and WiFi whilst a bit patch was adequate
There were only two of us in residence and we only really used the two downstairs double bedrooms. I fact we rarely ventured upstairs except to admire the view, there were two further bedrooms and a toilet / Shower on the top floor
The only negative and it is only marginal is that some of the decor and fixtures in the house are a little tired
Notwithstanding the is a lovely place to spend time ,it is spacious and it could easily accommodate a much larger group than we were.
This was our first ever visit to Skye and we had some trepidation about it’s infamous weather.
We were incredibly lucky in only having one poorish day for the rest of the time we witnessed fair and sometimes excellent weather and witnessed some of the more magnificent scenery this country has offer.
Cannot rate Skye highly enough
We are no experts but we saw Golden and Sea Eagles from the house. Remarkable
If you really want a motoring adventure on Skye try the road to Kylerhea ferry from Bradford and cross the world unique turntable ferry.
The road approaching is narrow, steep with dizzying drops and blind corners, it is a bit scary but what an experience
The road away from the ferry in the other direction is much more manageable but with astounding views
