"The property was lovely and had a very interesting history, our research revealed quite a lot."
As for the cottage, it was situated in a quiet location, the interior was well decorated and furnished, simplicity was a key point. It exuded a lovely feel and perfect for relaxation. The view was outstanding looking out towards the Outer Hebrides.
This was our first time staying in Skye, and we explored as much as we could in the two weeks we were there. A word of warning regarding the number of visitors to the island, incredible number who are impacting considerably on the environment and communities. Many are quite thoughtless. Tourism can be a double edged sword, and this applies to domestic and international tourism. Whether you can truly have sustainable tourism is a big question.
We were sitting in the cottage one day (the door was locked), and someone had walked into the garden, looked around and tried to come into the property. My partner opened the door and asked what they wanted. The woman asked if it was a museum. My partner stated no. Tourist sites, including archaeological sites are well signposted in Scotland. Evidently the house was not a museum and was a private property. To prevent anything like this happening again the property owner needs to make it clear that it is a private property.
Apart from that, we loved staying there.
Thank you for your suggestion about signage.

"It was a most delightful pleasure to stay in this beautifully kept historic cottage."
The location is simply stunning. The indoor space is surprisingly comfortable for two related to the historical „tiny house“ measures. Very friendly local contact and care.

"Stayed at the cottage for our honeymoon and it was perfect!"
With how secluded it was, with the wood burning stove, no TV or WiFi and the beautiful views, it was the perfect place to have a romantic getaway. It feels like a privilege to stay in a historical cottage like this.

"Excellent for a break from a frantic life, so quiet, so remote."
The kitchen and its equipment (but no dishwasher) was fully functional and up to date, which is not often the case when renting a house.
Thank you for your comments, the cottage did have a refurbishment last year sympathetic to the age and unique style of the property.

"Lovely, clean, cosy and comfortable."
Very much enjoyed the TV/online-free week - cooking, reading and puzzles in front of the fire were what I wanted to do, and I know I would have watched TV/been online if that had been available as the weather was not ideal. It is clear in the listing that these are not available, and that's one of the reasons I booked.
The Denby kitchen supplies are excellent.
I've been wanting to book for years and it didn't disappoint. If it had been calmer (it was blowing a hoolie all week) I would have enjoyed sitting outside and star-gazing - maybe next time.
Thank you

"Rating((★★★★★): Our recent stay at this charming cottage was nothing short of magical."
Nestled at the very tip of the island, it offered a truly enchanting experience that transported us back in time while providing all the modern comforts we could wish for.
Location (★★★★★):
The cottage's location was a dream come true for nature enthusiasts. Perched at the edge of Skye, it provided breathtaking views of the ocean, vast fields dotted with peacefully grazing sheep, and majestic mountains in the distance. The sense of tranquility that enveloped us was unparalleled. The only sounds that broke the silence were the soothing bleats of sheep, the melodies of birds soaring overhead, the distant crashing of the sea, and the occasional passing farmer's vehicle. If you seek an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place to be.
Accommodations (★★★★★):
The cottage itself was a delightful blend of traditional Scottish charm and modern amenities. Its cleanliness and warmth made us feel right at home. The interiors exuded a rustic charm, with cozy furnishings that invited relaxation. We particularly enjoyed the wood-burning fireplace, which added to the overall ambiance and kept us toasty during the cooler evenings.
The cottage was equipped with all the conveniences one could ask for, including a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, and a modern bathroom. The attention to detail in preserving the cottage's historical character while ensuring it met contemporary standards was commendable.
Hospitality (★★★★★):
The hosts were gracious and accommodating, providing us with all the information we needed for a smooth stay. They also offered valuable insights into the local attractions, helping us make the most of our time on the Isle of Skye. It was evident that they took great pride in sharing this hidden gem with their guests.
Overall Experience (★★★★★):
Our stay was nothing short of wonderful. It allowed us to disconnect from the digital world and immerse ourselves in the raw beauty of Scotland's highlands. Whether we were sipping a warm cup of tea by the window, taking leisurely walks in the fields, or stargazing at night, every moment was filled with enchantment. If you're looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway, this cottage is the perfect choice.
Our time at the Isle of Skye cottage was a truly magical experience that left us with cherished memories. We can't wait to return to this idyllic retreat and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a taste of Scotland's timeless beauty.

"We found the cottage comfortable and adequately equipped for our week’s stay."
We were aware that the location is remote, and found that the single track approach road was well supplied with passing places, but alarming to use when passing wide vehicles and especially people driving too fast.
Many thanks for the lovely comments about Beatons. Police Scotland do publish advice on using single track roads and passing places but unfortunately not everyone takes care on a single track road.

The cottage is warm , cosy and draft free.
The brand new kitchen has everything you need for your stay and the 6ft wide bed was very comfortable.
All the furnishings and fittings inside are of a high quality without taking anything away from the original features in the Croft.
Our EE phones didn’t work in the Croft because of the thick walls but did work by the windows and outside.
All in all a great holiday and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the rush of modern life.

"A perfect base for a week's hillwalking."
Arrangements for access well-communicated. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with good kitchen facilities for self-catering. We loved the character of the place and the style of the conversion. It was a little frustrating not to have easy access to WiFi, but this was made very clear in the listing, so not a real problem as we were able to make alternate arrangements for access. Thank you!
Many thanks for your kind comments, Beaton's Croft is very unique even for us at National Trust for Scotland as it is the only thatched property we let as a holiday home. Wifi and mobile phone signals are very variable in the Highlands and Islands generally.

"A small house with huge character, in a peaceful setting with good views."
Very cozy inside with a comfortable bed, nicely appointed kitchen and combined dining and seating area with a coal burning stove that helped to keep things warm! Having spoken to the property manager it must be a real labour of love to keep the house warm and dry through the Skye winters while retaining its authentic character, it was a privilege to stay in such a unique historic croft house. Skye information leaflets were useful, and the Museum of Island Life a few minutes up the road is a must see to get a sense of how the crofters lived.

Enjoyed the quiet and stunning views.
A small hiccup at the start in that we couldn't get in, annoying after a long drive. The cottage was supposed to be open with key inside. It was locked.
Following loads of phone calls a lady turned up and opened up for us. Other than that all went well.

"The stay self was delightful."
The accommodation was as expected, except for one thing. We had booked a twin occupancy, and underlined this again when I spoke to your operative on the telephone the week before we were due to arrive. We found the bed made up as a double. We were not able to locate anything that would allow us to remake the bed as twins. A small point perhaps, but we did book the cottage because it was advertised as a twin/double. On the plus side, your directions as to how to reach this remote location with perfectly adequate. Again on the plus side the accommodation was comfortable, clean, and warm, which I hadn’t expected. Full marks for that.
Many thanks for your feedback. Great to read that you were warm and comfortable. The note about splitting the beds into singles was sent to the housekeeper and we are sorry that this instruction wasn't carried out.

...need a good sand. Arm rests on the couch and armchair were grubby. Cutlery and crockery absolutely minimal. Tasteful curtains in rooms but effect ruined by a cheap turquoise bed side lamp. Toilet roll holder falling apart..
However the cottage itself was truly lovely and the setting magnificent. Pity about the interior. We have already booked a cottage with you next year but would like to be assured that the interior is of a higher standard.
