• "What an amazing place!"

  Not only was the house immaculately clean and just as described ,but the surrounding countryside is stunning! We have stayed in Scotland countless times - and always enjoy our stays but this place was truly magical. Every night we were visited by pine martens and badgers directly outside the French doors! The bird life was amazing with woodpeckers and goldfinches, amongst many others, just on the veranda! Superb holiday in an unforgettable location - super service too from caretakers. Will certainly visit again!

  There is an abundance of wildlife, including Pine Martens and Badgers on the veranda. The cottage is warm, homely and well equipped with all the amenities required. The communication is excellent from the owners. We are already looking at dates to return.

• "Such a gorgeous location."

  Dave and Linda were the perfect hosts making sure that we had everything we needed, fire started for us arriving and gave us space to enjoy the break knowing they were only a phone call away. We had probably the worst weather of any holiday we've ever had, non stop rain and high winds but i can tell you it didn't spoil our break. We just enjoyed the local area and all its beauty, watched the magnificent views from the cosy cottage and properly relaxed and recharged. Can wait to return!

• "We had a fantastic holiday here."

  The cottage is in the most perfect location and the views from the verandah are breathtaking. We loved watching all the wildlife and birds from the verandah which is a real bonus as even if it is torrential rain you can still sit outside. One of our highlights was paddleboarding on the loch with the backdrop of Eilean Donan Castle. It is well placed to visit the Isle of Skye but we preferred the scenery from Loch Duich. The cottage is well equipped and has everything you need for a cosy and relaxing stay. We would highly recommend and would love to stay again in the future.

  Views are breathtaking and change constantly because of the light. Wildlife is phenomenal. Location is perfect for exploring Skye and Localsh. The cottage has everything you need- especially the kitchen which is so well stocked for self- catering proper meals. We have stayed here twice and it was even better the second time. The best place we stay.

• "We had a wonderful week at Druidage Cottage."

  It was very comfortable in an incredible location with fantastic views. Lovely walks straight from the door and only two minutes to the loch side. An abundance of wildlife, Pine Martens and Bagders visit nightly for peanuts, jam sandwiches and peanut butter sandwiches. Pine Martens are very cheeky, they almost knock on the door when ready to be fed. Thank you to Linda and Dave, our hosts, for such a lovely experience. We will be back.

• "What a lovely cottage."

  Amazing views over the loch and mountains. Great walks from the door, up to the ferry cottage to see the seals. Plenty of places to see in driving distances. Portree, Kyle and try the ferry at Glenelg is definitely worth doing if you want to go Skye. Dave and Linda were very welcoming and helpful. Best of all the night visits of the pine martins and badgers were fantastic. Take plenty of peanuts, they do like peanut butter and jam sandwiches too. Lots of birds visit too, take bird seed too. We even seen a woodpecker a few times. Would highly recommend and we will return. Thank you Dave and Linda !!

• "Beautiful well equipped cottage."

  We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and the view is spectacular with a brew in the morning. Pine Martens came to visit every night and would wait at the door for peanut butter sandwiches! (They live under the decking and would pop out) We had a badger visit a couple of times. The walk to the Iron Age fort is lovely through the woods and next to the lock with otters and seals in the bay. Dave was really friendly and welcoming and checked in with us a few times and when we left. We were really sad to leave and hope to come back one day when we have finished exploring Scotland. Thank you for an amazing stay! Even my 2 teenage boys enjoyed it!

  The scenery and visiting wildlife make it very special, the Pine martens and badgers visited every night , with deer on the drive and seals in the Loch. Didn't see any otters this time . Lovely walk to the brock in Totaig .Take plenty of peanuts as there is an abundance of birds! .

• "Cottage and it’s setting absolutely gorgeous."

  Equipped with everything you could need. The beds were very comfortable. Walks straight from the property and lots to do only a short drive away. In spite of a very wet week in October we were out walking everyday and because of the veranda had breakfast outside each morning. Night time visitors were a delight, lots of bread and jam consumed by both Pine Martins and Badgers. Drove to Skye to look for White Tailed Eagles only to see one so close when we got back to the cottage, on video now. Owner was very welcoming and approachable. Really enjoyed the break. Definitely going back.

• "Absolutely amazing place to stay and wish we could have stayed longer."

  This is definitely a place for animal lovers and people who enjoy the great outdoors. We saw golden eagles, herons, seals, deers, pine martins and badgers. We had nightly visits from the pine martins and badgers and one night a mother deer and fawn joined them! This house is truly magical and I would go back tomorrow if I could. Just be aware it’s very rural so take your food with you and don’t forget the peanut butter for the badgers and pine martins! Great correspondence from the owners and we were met at the house and shown how things worked. I have never seen a badger in real life and this is something that I have wanted to see for as long as I can remember so this made the holiday perfect although, I can now say that pine martins as my favourite animal as they are just so cheeky! Thank you for a lovey, memorable stay! We had visits to Eilean Donan Castle, Isle of Skye, and walks around the local area. If you have kids look for the swing in the woods on the way to the broch, it was a great hit with our kids. Remember to take midge spray, the best one we found was Smidge which defo repels the Scottish midges!

• "Stunning location in peaceful surroundings."

  We thoroughly enjoyed our time sitting on the veranda enjoying the wildlife and amazing rainbows. The nightly visits from pine martens and badgers were great. Such a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Fabulous coffee shops to enjoy en route to and on Skye. We saw seals and sea eagles when we took the ferry from Glenelg. We’ll definitely be back!

• "We had a fabulous stay."

  The cottage itself was a bit dirty and tired. The bathroom was particularly grimy (the bottom of the shower looked like it had not been cleaned for months). There was dog hair everywhere. However, the location was perfect. The view from the veranda was beautiful and we loved meeting the pine martens and badgers every night.

  I am shocked to read this .I can assure you that the shower is cleaned and sanitised every change over. We did say when you arrived that if you were not happy with anything or needed anything to telephone us and we would do our best to rectify it for you. I cant understand if things were so bad why you never said anything to us .I certainly would have if I was in your position Property Owner

  We had a wonderful week! We had a badger and a pine marten visit every evening along with a many birds. Beautiful area with lots to do and see. There is another property nearby but you really won’t notice. We didn’t and usually we pick places totally away from it all with no neighbours. Highly recommend!

  Peaceful and quiet, with badgers and pine martens our only near neighbours. They called every evening to partake of the peanut butter sandwiches we laid out for them on the veranda, after we had moved indoors. A rare treat to see them.

• "I want to go back!"

  ! I’ve never felt so sad to be home, usually I’m ready to get home but that place is just something else. The accommodation was a little more basic than what we usually go for but it had all we needed and that view was just something else. The wildlife we saw was so special from paddleboarding in the Loch with a seal swimming near us to our nightly visits from Badgers and Pine Martens as well as the gorgeous little birds and we even saw otters and an eagle!! My only suggestions, which I think would make things that extra special would be a little welcome back on arrival including milk, bread, etc as the nearest shop is a 40 min round trip. It would also be really nice if there was some bird seed that we could have topped the feeders up with as I didn’t see anywhere to but any from and if this had a donation box I would have put something in had I been able to top the feeders up myself. On the whole a stunning beautiful place and a bonus with the sunshine everyday. Cleaning did lack a little - there were a lot of cobwebs, which I know come quickly in the country but these clearly looked like they’d been there a longtime and were not fresh, mould round the shower door and sink taps which was easily removed with some bleach. We also had an issue with the main door lock, the back one was broken on arrival so has to be bolted shut and the front door we couldn’t turn then key - but there were two other doors we could use. Although no Wi-Fi our phone signal and 4G coverage (Sky mobile and EE) was excellent so you can stay connected if needed. The owners were lovely and on hand if we needed them… Just those few minor points which I think would add a little something but as I mentioned already none of us wanted to leave… the view, the wildlife and the sense of peace and relaxation is something else. If staying I would also recommend a pop along to the little bakery which not only provides delicious bread and cakes, but the worlds most tasty rum truffles!! It also felt magical there!

• "A lovely cottage in a fantastic setting."

  Beautiful view of the loch and the hills. Badgers and pine martens visited every night. Be prepared to stock up with food as shops are a car ride away. The owners were always at the end of the phone and made sure there was plenty of fuel to keep the fire going. Lovely walks from the cottage along the side of the loch. One of the best places we've stayed.

• "Location was great for us, owners were helpful and informative and answered any queries we had, including local pubs and surrounding areas."

  Excellent for wildlife as we saw an elusive Pine Martin, Otter and a Great Spotted Woodpecker daily plus other animals including Badgers, Deer and Seals. Isle of Skye was fairly close and lots to do there and a very good pub in Donnie called the Clachan and another decent pub in Glen-Elg. A place I would visit again for relaxing as the whole family enjoyed the break.

• "This is the best place we have stayed in by far."

  The location is incredible with stunning views and on the shoreline. The veranda was visited at night by a pine marten and a badger and we loved watching all the wildlife including seals and otters in the bay. There is so much to do around the area- we used my daughter’s paddleboard both at the cottage beach and in so many other beautiful beaches. Would be hard to find a more perfect cottage for what we wanted. We would definitely return.

• "WOW! What more could you wish for?"

  Set on a hillside overlooking a sea Loch with a backdrop of mountains behind it which you can gaze out at from the house’s wrap around, all weather veranda you become immersed in a breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful location. There are fabulous walks along the Loch side and night time visitors to the veranda including Pine Martens and Badgers not to mention an array of wild birds feeding a couple of feet from you during the day. We kayaked on the Loch and saw seals basking on rocks, an Otter feeding on the Loch side and a pair of Sea Eagles flew overhead. There’s a beautiful castle on the Loch side you can visit and plenty of walks and the Isle of Skye is not too far away. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the house extremely comfortable and cosy with a large well appointed kitchen. We highly recommend this property but with one tiny suggestion to the owners - when your customers arrive after a 13 hour 500 + mile journey - a small welcome pack such as milk, bread, butter and tea/coffee would be extremely welcome - especially considering that the nearest shop is around a 25 minute car journey away. We have experienced this at other Sykes Cottages accommodation we’ve stayed in and it really is a nice touch.

  Fantastic cottage with excellent facilities , stunning views down the loch towards the the 5 sisters of Kintail. What is not mentioned on the website is that the cottage is 5 miles along a single track road with passing places. Fortunately the road surface was being upgraded the week after we left, this will make the last part of the journey to the cottage easier on your car.

• "What can I say,."

  . what a wonderful little cottage with amazing views. We were met on our arrival by Dave, he showed us how to work the wood burner heating system, and was very helpful showing us around, the cottage was lovely and clean and has everything you need for a self catering holiday, Linda had already contacted me by text to give directions and advised to bring a few food items as the nearest shop was a wee drive away. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and Dave told us about our possible visitors, my kids (age 11 and 14) were very excited in the hope we might see some wildlife. We left out some fruit and bread and true enough on our 1st night we had 3 little field mice and Bobby the Badger!, on our 2nd night Bobby and the mice came back then on our 3rd night they were joined by a Pine Martin and also 2 deer we had at least one visitor every night which was a great treat as none of us had seen these animals up close in the wild before, it was amazing to sit on the veranda and watch them, they were not phased by us at all. Our weather was fantastic we only had one day of rain, and on that evening we sat under our cosy blankets on the veranda listening to the rain thundering off the roof, it was amazing. Dave has done a great job adding the veranda to the property it was well used by us sitting out every night under the stars with a glass of wine a truly relaxing place. The surrounding area has so much to see, we took a walk from the cottage to Caisteal Grugaig (Dun Totaig) Broch , it took us around and hour and what a view from the top, you pass a great tree swing on the way which the kids loved. We spent our evenings skimming stones on Loch Duich with Eilean Donan Castle lit up across the water. We travelled to Skye to visit the Fairy Pools, Having been there years ago it is much more widely known and was a bit of a disappointment to us as it was so busy!! still nice to see if you have never been but parking is expensive at £5 per car unless you park up the hill a bit and walk in which we did. We also visited Plockton which is beautiful with its palm trees and beautiful harbour, we ate at the Plockton Hotel outside due to the Covid restrictions but as long as you've got the right cosy gear on you'll be fine! We also took a drive up to Carr Brae Viewpoint where you can see Druidaig Cottage from across the water, and we walked the Lochalsh Woodland Walks in Balmacara a beautiful walk to the shore and through the sunken garden at the Estate House. I cannot fault Druidaig Cottage or the surrounding area in any way, Dave kept us stocked up with wood for the burner and Linda communicated all we needed to know they were always on hand should we need anything.   Set in beautiful amazing surroundings you couldn’t want for anything else. The cottage itself was beautiful , wonderfully decorated. Spotlessly clean, warm and cozy. Dave and Linda have done an amazing job. We were met by Dave who is very friendly and a worm cosy log burning fire done by Linda to welcome us. The pictures of the cottage definitely doesn’t do it justice. You’d have to see it to experience how lovely it is. The local people are very warm friendly people, and the wildlife is beautiful. We had visitors on our veranda every night. You definitely don’t need the tv There’s also beautiful scenery and wildlife to see by walking or car. Our whole week was so relaxing and beautiful it went to quickly. It was our first time to the cottage but definitely not our last. We’ve booked again for next year. Everything about the cottage and area is definitely a gem. Thank you Dave and Linda for a wonderful holiday. • "There is no doubt that the cottage is in an excellent location."

  However the property itself is tired and in need of some refurbishment, and more meticulous day to day management. Kitchen was poorly equipped in terms of basic utensils (e.g. no serviceable frying pan (had to cook breakfast in the wok!), no non-stick implments to complement the non-stick saucepans, oven gloves provided were frayed and disintegrating. toaster not fully working). Fitted cupboards were tired and delaminating at bottom of sink doors. Main bed was tired and felt rickety. This is the first cottage we have stayed in that provided no visitor information (e.g. local tourist atttractions, doctor, dentist, refuse collection arrangements etc.) The provision of the verandah overlooking the view was a great plus point and, whilst previous visitors make a great play about the location and tame badgers that routinely visit(!), the price of the property does not justify the standard of accommodation offered by Druidaig Cottage.

• "The cottage was broadly as the photos on the website showed it."

  It was comfortable and well maintained inside and there is enough space for 4 people. Negative points - the cottage shares its grounds with a second property. We had booked this cottage due to it's remote location, so feel that this is something that should have been clear in the write up (thisis something that Sykes should ensure for all properties). However, that said there was no noise / interuption from the other cottage as the guests like us wanted the peace and quiet and it was so peaceful in the area that it made no difference, but for the sake of transparency it would have been nice to know. Positive points - the owners were friendly and helpful and clearly cared that their guests had everything that they needed; the cottage was well maintained. The verandah was a God send, it was perfect for sitting, relaxing and staring at the gorgeous view down Lock Duich, we find that a lot fo Scottish cottages don't make enough of the beautiful outside spaces that they have, but this cottage really did buck that trend and I can't praise Dave enough for adding this feature. We could have sat there all day, it truly is a special location. The remoteness of the cottage gave us the peace and quiet we were craving. Nightly visits from badgers and a pine marten really put the icing on the cake for us, it was so good to see the wildlife so close. All in all an excellent stay.

  property was lovely and cosy warm , views over the Loch were amazing and on a clear day you can see the 5 sisters mountains from you seated deck of the cottage . Pine martins and badgers and even cheeky mice came onto the deck at night to feed if you put food out for them and can watch them feeding from the living room patio doors . The famous Applecross mountain pass is about 1 hour 40 mins away from the cottage and well worth the extra drive to but only take up the challenge if you are a experienced driver as it can be a bit tricky in places but OMG the views at the top are to die for. We also travelled to Glencoe from the cottage about a two hour journey and once again we stood there mouths open at the views absolutely breathtaking . One piece of advice i would like to pass on is if you go in Midge season buy a decent midge repellent as the Midges are relentless and swarms will be around you in seconds , we did buy the skin so soft dry oil spray and it does work midges do not bite you but it does not stop then from coming around you in swarms . Highly recommended cottage if you like you peace tranquillity and stunning views , A little slice of heaven.

• "We arrived just before new year and after spending 10 hours travelling the sight of the cottage was a welcome relief."

  The views are just stunning. Every morning we sat on the veranda and it was pure bliss. The children were excited when we got to see the pine martens and the badger come every night and if your lucky enough you might spot the deer coming down from the mountains behind the cottage. This is the first year out of many in scotland where we have not had to spend a penny on things to do with the children. You have everything on your doorstep for free. Take the road to the left at the bottom of the driveway and follow all the way past the lodge and you'll come to a large tree swing. Further round through a gate you'll come to another cottage on the loch front. If you go past that and follow the path for a while you will eventually come to an old viking broch. There are also the barracks in Glenelg. The beach there is also nice. Past Glenelg is Sandaig. The walk to the beach is nice. You get to see the remembrance stone for Gavin Maxwell and his otter Elda and on the beach is a beautiful cottage that belonged to Raef Payne. The list goes on of the things you can do around this area, and after a long day hiking or just spending time with the family. You come back to a wonderful cottage that is warm and cosy and has everything you need to relax. I will most definitely be recommending it to friends and family.

  The cottage was cosy and welcoming when we arrived home in the evenings, with everything we needed. Lovely owners who were very helpful when I managed to get the car stuck in a ditch. Watching the pine martens and badgers every night was an amazing experience. We will definitely be back soon.

• "Beautiful cottage!"

  It has been fairly recently extended to a lovely standard and is spacious, comfy and really well equipped with everything you would need for a break away. Location wise, it is a really tranquil part of Scotland and Letterfearn is very quiet, so if its peace and relaxation you are after, this is your place. We had a lovely time enjoying the local area, its really handy for Skye etc too. The only thing that did put me off was there were a few days we couldn't freely roam as the estate owner was hunting so it did curtail us a little and as a huge animal lover, this was the last thing i wanted on my doorstep. What WAS lovely on the door step (literally) was Pine Martins, a Badger and loads of lovely wild birds - these came daily for feeding and were an absolute delight !!

• "Fantastic cottage in a lovely location."

  It is kitted out with pretty much eveything you could need and was immaculate when we arrived. Nightly visits from pine martens and badgers on the porch looking for food. They are not noisy and just go on their way if no food is out, we chose to give them something as the kids loved seeing them a couple of feet away as they can be seen through the patio doors of the lounge and seem unbothered by an audience! It is very peaceful, little background noise at any time other than occasional vehicles. Walks down to the beach and along the road yield some amazing views of the surrounding mountains, Eilean Donan castle can be seen from that side, nicely lit up at night. Reaching the cottage is done via a 5 mile stretch of single track road that winds around the loch, there are plenty of passing places but it requires an amount of care as it is lined with ditches and drops down to the beach and I don't imagine an easy recovery is possible! One thing to note - the online listing indicates a pub and shop within 4 miles, this is not the case, nearest pub is around 8 miles away on the other side of the loch and shop is part of a filling station at around 9 miles. This has a decent selection of items. For a bigger selection the Co-Op in Kyle of Localsh is good. It wasn't a huge issue but did catch us out in terms of expectations for ability to shop on arrival, if you are due to arrive quite late it is better to have some basics with you.

• "Location, location, location!"

  If you want to be near a few shops or a stroll to the pub this isn’t the cottage for you. This is the perfect cottage for chilling and enjoying all that nature has to offer. There are some beautiful walks straight from the door, incredible views over the loch and the Five Sisters, nightly visits from the badgers, pine martens and mice all queuing for their supper. For us this was heaven. From the moment we’d travelled the five miles along the loch to Druidaig and turned the corner to the cottage, veranda lights were on, a warm welcome awaited - we were in love. Perfect base for exploring the highlands or just sitting back and chilling. Next time we need two weeks! The dog loved it too.

• "Really really nice cottage in a wonderful part of a great country."

  The Glenelg peninsular is gorgeous, as is everywhere / thing else in the W Highlands & Skye. The cottage surprised us. You usually find the photos on the website are old and the reality is a more 'beaten up' dwelling. Not so here, its well kept and clean, warm and has all mod cons. Advice - Don't take black pepper with you - they have pepper o plenty ! Seems every guest takes a pot ! We left another unopened one to add to the collection. Fill yer boots folks ! Owners make sure you know they can be called if any probs / queries but let you be, as well.

• "The photos do not do this cottage justice."

  The biggest bonus about Druidaig Cottage is the front covered veranda wher you sit in the comfy chairs and take in the ever changing views over the Loch to the mountains on the far side. I am not one for sitting still for more than a few minutes but I was more than happy to relax a enjoy the view, a pair of Binoculars are a must. The cottage was well equipped with everything you might need, we shopped at Fort William on our way up and did not need anything else but there is a small shop at the end of the small road leading to the cottage. We will definitely be back. Visit Plockton, Applecross, Loch Ness, Glenelg ferry, Rannoch moor station among other places.
