• "This is the second time staying at Beachcombers and I am sure it won't be our last."

  It is so welcoming and the view is to die for. Again we were so lucky and the weather was amazing so we were able to get out and about on the islands but Beachcomber was always an amazing base to end the day. It will always have a special ial place in our hearts

• "Fabulous accommodation in a breathtaking location."

  Beachcombers was clean, cosy and very well equipped. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything about the property was wonderful. The welcome pack was very thoughtful. We would definitely recommend Beachcombers and would love to come back.

• "Beachcombers is located in an open and quiet position not far from the Eriskay causeway."

  I saw and photographed Red deer and Eriskay ponies from the comfort of the living room. It is within walking distance of the Kilbride Cafe and Polochar Pub/restaurant on South Uist (2-3 miles) and the Am Polotician pub/restaurant on Eriskay (a couple of miles). There is a shop on Eriskay near the pub for provisions and a suitably sized Co-op about 6 miles or so away. We were lucky as the weather was sunny all the time we were there (the locals state that is not always the case). The Eriskay to Barra ferry is 5 mins drive away, and Lochboisdale and its ferry port about 10 miles away. All in all the location and view from Beachcombers was perfect for us and the property suitably sized should the weather have let us down. There are lots and lots of virtually deserted white sandy beaches on South Uist and Eriskay. The roads are in good condition (compared to ours at home) and are mostly single lane with passing points, the locals seem to adapt their speed so you pass each other whilst still travelling. Generally the roads are quiet as the islands are bigger than you think, with small populations that are on South Uist very spread out. The neighbours said the boat trip to see the bird life was amazing. We had great expectations of Beachcombers and we were not disappointed.

• "Loved the location."

  The house was well set out and was spotless and cosy. Spoke to the owner by telephone a few times and met Margaret Ann - nice to get some island perspective and information too. We are only sorry that we could not spend more time in this lovely house - and what a view!

• "An excellent property, very comfortable, with everything we needed during our stay."

  The views are spectacular and the house is spotlessly clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the property, Michael, the owner, is very helpful. The location of the property is excellent for exploring the southern Outer Hebrides.

• "Beachcombers is a beautiful house in a wonderful location overlooking the Eriskay Causeway."

  It is fabulous watching the light change and various islands appearing and disappearing into either mist or brilliant sunshine. I did manage to get one photo with no less than 9 islands visible. The only thing missing was to see an otter!

• "Beachcombers is a superb property in a spectacular location."

  The minute we walked through the door we felt at home. It was so comfortable, some properties always feel like a holiday let but Beachcombers felt like home, instantly, the layout, the furniture and the view weĺl..... we were blessed with spectacular weather so saw the islands at their best, but the view from the cottage was something else, visits by the wild ponies, the sunrises, the sunsets, the moon rising over the water and Eriskay, stunning I could go on and on. We were so sad to leave, it was so perfect. We hope to be back soon.

• "We absolutely loved our stay at Beachcombers."

  The house is really well designed and appointed, the view out the back is spectacular. We loved the cupboard full of books and board games for the odd rainy day and our young daughters LOVED the jacuzzi bath! We had a couple of questions for the owners during our stay and they were answered very quickly. Pair of kitchen scissors and a battery for the kitchen clock is all that was needed and a welcome brochure giving info about , for example, how to turn on the jacuzzi, local sights/restaurants etc would have been useful. We will almost certainly be back!

  The decking area was lovely. Only one suggestion would be for hand soap to be available in the bathrooms, especially during the COVID pandemic.

• "A wonderful wildlife and wild flower holiday."

  Watching an otter from the window of the house was a fantastic experience. We also had very close encounters with golden eagles, sea eagles and short eared owls. The views everywhere were really lovely - and so was swimming in North Uist. We'd love to come again.

• "Beachcomber's Cottage is so comfortable and the most heavenly place to be."

  The view from the sitting room window is out of this world. Margaret Ann welcomed us so warmly I felt I was home ! The islands, the beaches, the sea are fabulous. Everyone we met was so friendly and travelling on the ferry to Barra an absolute treat. I will be back to visit this wonderful place.

• "We've had a lovely week here, although the weather has been a 50/50 mixture of rainy days and sunshine."

  The view from the house must be the best in the Uists - we never tired of looking out at it. The sea colour changed with the tide and weather and there were so many birds and animals to look out for . We were fortunate to see 2 sea eagles fly by the house and land nearby and a hen harrier was seen close to the house. We spotted an otter in the shallows close to Eriskay while crossing the causeway. We loved the west coast beaches and archaeological sites like Cladh Hallan and the Kildonan museum was excellent. We certainly would like to come back again - its been great.

• "We've loved every minute of our two weeks here."

  As well as enjoying touring all round South Uist, Barra and up to Berneray, it has been a treat to wake up each morning and come through into the lounge to look at THAT VIEW! Wow! We have never tired of it - looking out at the constantly changing skies and all that is going on, sheep, ponies, seabirds - we even saw a Sea Eagle one day - and all from the comfort of an armchair!! We have loved the cottage, it is warm, comfortable and stylishly decorated and of course the windows are super. Thanks for your warm welcome Margaret Ann. We hope to return.

• "An absolutely delightful house with a lovely owner, who could not have been more helpful or charming, the house was built by him with obvious care and thought."

  A lovely layout, warm and inviting with a fantastic view of the Sound of Eriskay, the site of the sinking of the SS Politician, with many birds, seals and otters to see. It's quite remote which is exactly what we wanted but a co-op is only 10 minutes drive away. Ideal for visiting Eriskay across the causeway and onto Barra and Vatersay, which has a fantastic beach, by ferry. It's also only 15 minutes from Lochboisdale ferry port. Well equipped with all mod cons you could need and privacy too. Very comfortable and yet modern with no clutter and a wee bit of history in a bottle of whisky from the Politician. Would definitely recommend.
