  • "Well equipped with everything you could ever need."

Super location with incredible views. Very peaceful and relaxing feeling as soon as you enter the house. The host provided us with a very generous welcome pack of delicious treats which were very well received. Would return to Seaspray cottage anytime. We absolutely had the best time.

Dear Susan, Thank you so much for your kind feedback. Christine who does the changeovers was so pleased that you left the house in such a clean condition. Your always welcome back anytime . Hopefully we will get the road up to the cottage concreted in the next month or two. I wish you and your god daughter all my best wishes . Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week at Sea Spray Cottage."

The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. The views from the cottage are outstanding! This is one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in! The Uists are a magical place, with beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife and we are already planning our return!

Dear Amy, Thank you so much for your wonderful review of SeaSpray. I am so happy to read that you had a great time on the Islands. To say the least your are very welcome to return and explore some more out the jewels of the West. We hope to have the road up to the house concreted in September this year. It’s been an ongoing project that hopefully will make driving up to the house easier for all. My very best wishes John Mackinnon Property Owner

  • "Sea Spray Cottage is amazing - modern, comfortable and environmentally friendly, all in a stunning location."

We didn't put the telly on for our entire stay. Who needs it if you have such a view of Eriskay and Barra.

Thank you Viola for your kind feedback. I am so glad you both had a lovely stay. Hopefully when you come back, the road up to the house will be concreted in September. This work will make it easier to drive up to the cottage. Yes TV is fine for the news but viewing Eriskay and Barra on a beautiful day is something else . Wishing you a great summer John Mackinon Property Owner

  • "A beautiful cottage with stunning views."

Very clean. All the equipment you could need. It was a pleasure to go back there after an enjoyable day out. Only drawback is the very steep drive. Quite a challenge with the loose gravel

Thank you for your feedback Valerie, The road up to the house is steep. The gravel you drove on is the preparation material for further work we intend to do in late September. The plan is to put Concrete down on this preparation surface to finally resolve the issue of the access road to the house. I am so glad the house is to your liking, thanks to Christine who does a fantastic job of looking after the house. My Best Regards John MacKinnon Property Owner

It contained everything possible you could imagine and perfectly presented. We didn’t need to contact the owner but it was made clear that if we had any issues they were on hand. We’ve used Sykes on many occasions and never been less than very happy but Sea Spray is quite simply PERFECT.

We did struggle to find the property in the dark using the instructions. They are inaccurate but this was the only issue we had!

Thank you kindly for your feedback. I will ask the LHH/ SYKES to adjust the directions to the cottage . I will speak to them on Monday. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay , the islands are a very special places. My Best regards John Mackinnon Property Owner

  • "Lovely clean, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location."

Really nice stay Some cars may struggle a little getting up the driveway, but other than that, it was a perfect place to stay

Dear Jason, Thank you for your kind feedback. The house was my pipedream, I am just glad people are getting to enjoy it . Christine who does a brilliant job of doing the changeover work will be pleased by your comments. My plan is to build either a concrete road or Tarmac road up to the house in the off season . I am also hoping to have the fencing etc completed in November/ December. My best regards and perhaps we will see you again John Mackinnon Property Owner

  • "Probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in - Thank you."

Sykes need do need to revisit their directions to the property however which are a little misleading. On joining the B888 you travel 4 miles then turn left and travel a further 2 miles. You also need to advise people that there is no nameplate outside so taking a picture of it may be sensible

Dear George, I am sorry I did not reply to your feedback until now, I was not well for a while there but I have recovered thank god. Thank you kindly for your review we are so very pleased that Sea Spray was the best we will endeavour to keep it that way and hopefully better as time passes by . It is great that you pointed out to directions problem. I will contact Sykes about this. I am trying to source a name plate to put at the bottom of the road. The person who used to make the photo name plates on the Islands is no longer available. I will be contacting LHH ? Sykes to ask them if they know a company on the mainland that they can recommend. There are projects in place for the house and its surroundings, 1/ I hope to have a fence built around the house later this year. You may have seen the initial prep work that the fencer has done. We have a problem with sheep straying into the village and try as we might we cant manage to stop them at this time so I have had to begin the fencing project to stop them getting around the house. 2/ I am hoping that a concrete or tarmac road will be built up to the house this winter as the surface in place was a temporary measure when we were building the house. My very kind regards John Mackinnon Property Owner

  • "This is a beatiful home and from the moment we arrived, we were blown away with both the home and the location."

On arrival, the supplies and treats left be the owner, John, and Christine, were really appreciated and very sweet. The views out across crystal blue waters of The Sound of Barra, to Barra itself, Eriskay and the distant mountains on the mainland, are breathtaking. The cottage itself is really well appointed and everything feels premium. There are plenty of places to visit and eat, the ferry to Barra is 10 minutes away and a day trip there, including a visit to the airport for the daily Otter flight from Glasgow, is a must. As you can see from the pictures, we were also gifted a night with the Aurora Borealis, an amazing sight. Eagles, dolphins, seals and otters were also spotted. In short, our whole week was, "breathtaking!"
