"Lovely location & surroundings Unfortunately there was a few disappointing factors, these being: Overall the cleanliness was disappointing, ie there were crumbs on the kitchen table when we arrived , the dishwasher filter was filthy so obviously hadn’t been cleaned for ages!"
There was no dishcloth so it was difficult to clean the surfaces ourselves. The toilets weren’t cleaned properly. There was only one wooden bread board but no chopping boards which we would expect. On arrival, there was ash still in the fire grate which hadn’t been cleared together with a bucket full of ash. It looked also like the chimney hadn’t been swept for a long time as ash kept falling into the grate from the chimney. There was no wood available to light a fire.

"Keepers Cottage is a great place if you want peace and quiet and to watch the wildlife especially Pheasants as it was that time of year when we stayed!"
The interactions between the cattle was interesting to watch - the cottage itself is brilliant providing everything you need but in keeping with the past - we have thoroughly had a lovely stay and would certainly recommend it...

"A short directions sketch before the day of arrival would be very helpful to reach the cottage much easier and quicker."
All together: it is a great pleasure to spend a week in this cottage in the midst of wonderful surroundings.

"The Keeper's Cottage is idyllic in so many ways- quiet, nature filled surroundings and lots of room to spread out and enjoy both family spaces together but also time to yourself."
We would have had the perfect stay had there not been an incident that could have been better resolved. On the first night, we were setting up to have dinner outside and noticed glass on the patio floor. With a curious puppy and most of us in bare feet, we quickly started picking it up only to realise there were handfuls of broken shards all over the area. As we cleaned, it became clear that something had broken and parts of it had been swept to the side rather than picked up to prevent it travelling and causing issues. Underneath the lovely shubbery were piles of glass, spent tea lights and other items dangerous for a small curious dog that will naturally sniff around. We contacted the owners who offered to come immediately and kindly offered wine and a trip to the Maize Maze next door. Unfortunately it was coupled with a defensive attitude about how hard glass was to pick up (we were well aware having spent hours safety proofing the area) and told we should have made them clean it up rather than done it ourselves. Having already not been thorough enough, we'd decided it best for our own peace of mind to clean. A little more of a empathic response would have gone a long way to help us feel at ease after the scare. We understand accidents happen but more will be repeated if it's not dealt with appropriately.

"This is a truly lovely cottage in the middle of nowhere."
Ideally situated for fabulous walks in the South Downs Park and Meon Valley. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Thank you.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage was lovely, cosy and warm."
It was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. The situation was excellent close to some great dog walking areas. The wildlife we saw in the field around the cottage was delightful, pheasants, hares and rabbits. We will definitely go back for another stay.

"A delightful cottage with amazing views."

"House location was very nice."
Peaceful and quiet. But there were to many things not right to make it a great stay. Oven did not work properly. Electric kept tripping when oven used. Oven knob obviously reattached upside down. We could only use the hob for cooking. Shower room had an air lock and reached every time it was used. Front door could not be locked from the inside. No curtain for glass door in living room. Constant flies within snug room. No utensils for open fire. It is a shame the above had obviously not been attended to previously. It would have made our stay much more enjoyable. Pub food was great at both east and west Meon. Dogs loved the local walks.
Dear Paul, Thank you for your comments, sorry you had so many problems, we will sort that out. With kind regards Fiona Property Owner

"Delightful place."
Will stay again. It was cold winter weather so lots more logs please. No information makes things like working the heating more difficult. Fire lighters and kindling please. Kitchen utensils were poor. No spatula to cook eggs for example. Shower fantastic. Heating excellent. Lovely very rural location. So instructions, plenty for the fire and sort the utensils please. Didn’t ruin the holiday but would make a significant difference to a lovely cottage.
Dear John, Thank you for your feedback, that is very useful for us. With kind regards Fiona Property Owner

"Keepers Cottage is simply perfect for a quiet holiday in a beautiful setting."
It is an almost magical place. There are so many walks if you are taking dogs and several pubs nearby who are so friendly and pubs which take dogs also. The food that is served in the Ye Olde George in East Meon and also food in The Thomas Lord in West Meon are both excellent with extremely friendly Landlords. The Cottage has everything which is needed for stay. The wildlife is incredible, pheasant, deer, hare, rabbits and foxes. We have stayed in many cottages on holiday but nothing has been as exceptional as this. We were so sad to leave and will definitely be booking again.
Dear Dawn, Thank you for your lovely comments, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back soon. With kind regards Fiona Property Owner

"A magical place to stay, very special."
The cottage is homely and spotless, so peaceful yet within a 5-minute drive to the beautiful village of East Meon. The perfect place to get away from it all, in the company of pheasants, owls, deer and even the buzzard who rested on the garden fence! Will be back for sure.
Thank you Julia. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back soon. Property Owner

"We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage."
So peaceful with stunning views. Lots of pheasants and rabbits. I would agree with a previous post about giving more specific directions on how to find it - the cattle grid is a long way from where the postcode and google maps listing of Keepers Cottage takes you! Depending on which direction you approach the property, you'll pass on your left a turning signposted Cedar Valley, then you'll pass a turning with a large iron electric gate. Ignore these turn-offs and keep on the main road driving for approx another 1/2 mile and on your left you'll see two wheelie bins and a low wooden sign which says Keepers Cottage. Over the cattle grid and you follow the track to the house.
Thank you Helen. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back soon. Property Owner

"Loved our week at this idyllically situated cottage."
Well prepared, and with thoughtful starter things in the kitchen. Its great for those who like peace and quiet and the change to watch nature - hares, pheasant and deer all in full view. Although the weather was very hot, the cottage stayed pleasantly cool. Only tiny thing is that we would have appreciated clearer instructions on how to find it - maybe a little sketch map? If you arrive on a Friday check out the pizza and cafe camp in the nearby Cedar Valley.
Thank you Amanda. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back soon. Property Owner
