  • "We had a fantastic stay here at Muscat."

The property was beautiful and felt safe and comfortable. The area was also in a good location and was close to other tourist areas if you have a car (and we saw a bus stop very close by too). Jon and Mel answered any questions we had and kindly provided us with basic necessities such as tea, milk, coffee, sugar and biscuits etc.. thank you. There were certain small things which could have been improved but certainly did not impact our stay. We felt there was definitely a need for a serving spoon or ladle in the kitchen cupboards. There seemed to be everything else other then this. There were also no cleaning facilities despite asking us to leave the lodge clean and tidy upon our departure (we had to go out and buy surface wipes/toilet rolls etc as there were no spares). Also could have done with some washing up liquid (we were left with an empty bottle which had enough for a plate or two). We did find a few dead insects upon arrival also but again, this was an easy fix and easily missed. Overall though, there is everything you could want. An easy to use hot tub, tourist magazines/leaflets, TV’s, two bathrooms, lots of kitchen equipment and guides on how to use oven etc.. and most of all, a beautiful lodge. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. We will definitely recommend/would return in the future.

  • "General consensus is that the pillows are too hard, just a pad, no plumpness in them."

Door closures are too stiff, especially for a frail person to exit the bedrooms. Appreciate that they have to meet fire regs, they just just need a slight adjustment. The instructions re waste/recyclable waste bins are insufficient and confusing. The heating controls need looking at. Although the weather was cool and heating was required, the thermostat didn’t seem to work, which must be costing the owner far too much. Although these are negative comments, they are intended to be constructive. Overall there are more positives than negative with Muscat and the whole park.

  • "Directions were lacking it took us an hour to find the place and in the end a phone call."

As it rained a lot we had no way of heating the place, it was damp. Had a washing machine but no dryer. No hair dryer. Would not return.

  • "Yes, the sinks were small, but more than adequate."

Apart from that, an excellent place to stay Only minor comment I would add was that the patio door stop needs highlighting as it was easy to trip over on it when you first arrive.......as my other half did, fortunately without hurting herself.

  • "Lovely property in a quiet location."

Property was as described. Sinks are very small in bathrooms as noted in previous reviews. Welcome pack provided of Milk, tea and biscuits which was a nice gesture. Minature soap, shampoo and shower gel also provided but in only one of the bathrooms which was a little strange given that these are luxury adult only lodges and in the main two couples. Hot tub was a nice size only downside was patio not large enough so you had to go on grass to get round to steps from one of the bedrooms. Hedges between lodges at the rear are still relatively new so not a lot of privacy when in the hot tub. The Wishing Well pub (IOW Destillery) is at the entrance to the complex so handy for a drink / meal

    Nice and easy.

  • "Luxury? No."

The ridiculously tiny sinks in the bathrooms are enough to disallow such a high rating. A sapling growing out of the rear downpipe makes a query of maintenance. However, internally very well equipped and comfortable. Hot tub lovely.

  • "The kitchen/lounge area of the lodge was clean and generally well fitted out."

The addition of a teapot would be good and also a 2nd oven glove - lifting a hot dish out of the oven with 1 hand is not really safe. However, it is in the bathrooms that my criticism begins. The sink is way too small and it is difficult to get your head over the sink when cleaning your teeth/shaving. When sitting on the loo you can easily see very dirty marks on the front of the shower tray - not acceptable. Sealant in the shower had dirt/mould on it - but even worse was the appalling smells that both shower rooms gave from the drains once you have taken a shower. Not nice when you sleep in the adjoining bedrooms and a possible health risk. Only 1 toilet roll was provided for each bathroom for a weeks stay…. Also a hairdryer being provided would have been better than having to carry my own. Luxury lodge - no . Eco lodge - not sure how that can be with a hot tub outside, although not used by us. Such a shame as there is so much to enjoy about this accommodation…..but not by us again.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We apologise for any cleanliness issues you experienced during your stay. We take these very seriously and have already raised them with the cleaning team. We appreciate that you would have preferred a larger en suite, but we are sure you realise we cannot redesign the lodges at this stage. The four lodges with a shared shower room have a much larger, more accessible space, so perhaps one of these would have been more suitable. To respond to your concern regarding the eco-lodges, the design and build of the lodges took a fabric-first approach to ensure they are highly thermally efficient and were constructed using sustainable materials. All lighting is LED and the appliances are A-rated. We do appreciate that hot tubs are not always the most energy-efficient installations. However, when designing and planning the development they were requested over and over again, so we decided to make a compromise in this area. We understand you decided not to take advantage of the hot tub, but have received much positive feedback on it from previous guests. Once again, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we are pleased to hear you felt there was much to enjoy about the accommodation. Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely and the location is really nice and well kept."

We did have an issue with a leaking bathroom sink in one of the bedrooms which wasn't fixed by the time we left, however, Mel was very helpful and did call maintenance out and it wasn't too much of an issue. It was a really nice base for a weeks stay. Would definitely recommend.

  • "Overall it was a wonderful experience staying in Muscat."

I would definitely recommend it to others. Understandably to cater for everyone's personal tastes is very challenging indeed. So our only suggestion would be blackout curtains in the bedrooms.

  • "This is an ideal location for exploring the Isle of Wight."

There is a pub and gin distillery almost on site that would normally also be a restaurant (unfortunately they were between chefs at the time of our stay) we had a problem with the internet in our holiday let but the owner did everything he could to help get it connected. Very clean, ample room for 4 adults and the hot tub was luxurious. Comfortable beds and great en suite showers. Only 20 minutes by car to the town of Ryde where there were ample restaurants to suit our needs. Will definitely consider using this let when we return for our next holiday

About the location

SEAVIEW

Ryde 2.6 miles.

Seaview is a small Edwardian seaside village on the north eastern shores of the Isle of Wight, only a 15 minute drive from the superb transport links of Ryde. Seaview is one of the South of England’s most famous holiday destinations, with a reputation of being an upmarket resort. This lovely seaside resort has stunning views out across the Solent, gorgeous golden sandy beaches, a sailing club, boutique shops and many popular restaurants and pubs, such as The Seaview Hotel and The Old Fort. On the coastal footpath towards Ryde just off Springvale is Puckpool Park, an old Victorian Fortification Battery, now with tennis courts, mini-golf and a children’s play area set within its pretty gardens. In the summer, locals and tourists take part in the famous Seaview Regatta, competing in many traditional activities, with races on the beach at Seagrove Bay, rowing in the village’s own unique boats, tug of war, the greasy pole and diving, all concluded at the end of the week with a magnificent firework display. As well as being a coastal village the nearby countryside at Seaview’s Duver is a nature reserve, with frequent visits from the beautiful red squirrel, as well as having an incredible array of bird life.
