"Poor wi-fi access made it hard to make arrangements when I had to return home in an emergency and to enjoy my stay there in general."
The beds in the second bedroom are too small for an adult - think this was not mentioned in the advertisement. On the plus side everything else worked well, ie the oven, the shower, the toilet. Kitchen is well-equipped. The location is fantastic. Was very grateful for the heaters provided.
-
"An immaculate property in a wonderful, peaceful location yards from the beach."
The property was clean and bright inside and had table and seating on some lovely new decking outside, perfect for a morning coffee or evening glass of something. 2nd time have been here and thoroughly recommend
-
"Good location, nice development with grass out front - we enjoyed our stay Bungalow well stocked with implements"
-
"Everything was fine apart from the washing line which was too high up."
Not everyone is 6feet tall. I am only 5ft 2ins and struggled to hang the washing.
-
"No hanging space or wardrobes to hang our clothes."
No private parking as what was we were told only communal parking but that was full at times.
-
"Drake cottage was well equiped, bed comfy, suited all our needs."
-
"So much better than expected."
A great place with almost everything any visitor would want / need. Quite a warm place, plenty of heaters available should they be required. * Just the one thing missing - a tin opener!

"Listing states there is a car park but for me, it was not close enough."
Im 75 and travelled alone so carting my luggage/ food etc back and forth was too much for me. Other than that, it was a fab location and the bungalow was perfect. The owners supplied everything you could possibly need.
-
"No recycling bin in accmodation,a better description of how far from car park to chalet."
A bad smell of sewerage from a pump house situated next to car park no mention of this in the description on the plus side nice and quiet and everything in the chalet provided
-
"The property itself has all you need for self catering holiday."
If you like a hard mattress then the beds are fine but myself & sister take our own thick bed toppers to help make the mattress more comfortable. The kitchen has all the usual equipment so meals can be prepared & cooked. The main downfalls which we encountered last year & this year also is there is no lighting in the car park which is just a rough earth surface & is pitch dark in the evening when coming back from a night out & no lighting in the area where Drakes cottage along with all the others in that complex are, which are set out in a quadrangle around a grassed patch in front of the cottages, the lights on the cottages occupied by owners & holiday makers are the only available outside lights on the cottages so you can see your way back to your holiday home & only if the people in them leave the light on ( most don’t) & they are on timers.. we asked the owner could he do the timer to go off at 12pm which he did as he was in the island at the time. Holiday makers don’t have access to the timer or Lx outside lights, I recommend taking a good torch. Also the smell that smells like rotten eggs permeates the area & it’s vile, windows had to be kept shut both times we were there in September last year & this. Some say it’s the pond causing the smell which does appear more strongly when you’re near the pond and the pond is near the cottages. Also evidently there is a sewage plant adjacent to the car park and the cottages, some think it comes from there, tbh you can’t fully tell where it comes from is vile and very offputting. After experiencing it two years running. I don’t know if myself and my sister would go back again I really couldn’t stand it. It made me gag and heave. Other than that the cottage is very nice apart from the beds being too firm and that awful smell that’s constantly there.

"Lovely little cottage, well equipped and clean."
Unfortunately I could not recommend this place to anyone else on account of the terrible, nauseating stench of raw sewage which seemed to get progressively worse throughout the week. It's a real shame because it will put us off coming back.

"Very pleased with the chalet very cosy, location was brilliant."
On the whole we loved it. Thank you
-
"A lovely property very near the sea in a pretty village which is a good base for getting around the island."
No issues with the property which although compact was absolutely fine - great shower!
-
"Property ideally located for walks by the sea."
Very clean and all the equipment that we needed was provided. I did find the back cushions on the sofa rather uncomfortable though. It would be good if a mirror was located close to an electric socket for use of hairdryer, curling tongs etc. But a very comfortable place to stay. This was our second visit to this property.

"Nice clean comfortable cottage, bang next to a lovely beach."
However TV sound quality was absolutely dire (booming and distorting) which made viewing rather unpleasant. Needs a larger saucepan.

"We had no problems with the property whatsoever."
......BUT.... Disgusted to find that from Monday 11th July ALL WEEK from 8am until approx 4pm there were workmen ripping up decking and building new wood frames etc. using a circular saw & other power tools, making noise & creating sawdust clouds all around only 30 feet from our cottage. On the hottest week of the year so far we were not able to sit outside for any length of time or keep our windows open because of the noise and dust. Why was this work not undertaken out of season? It ruined our stay !!!
Dear Stephen I am sorry your holiday was ruined by the work going on at one of the other bungalows. I can assure you that the owners of these bungalows have been told in no uncertain terms that they should not have arranged for this to be done during the peak holiday season. Apparently, it was due to the decking being in a dangerous state that it had to be replaced. It should have been temporarily repaired for now and then replaced in the Autumn.I will ask Sykes to contact you to discuss this with you. Best regards John Blenkinsop Property Owner

"Lovely property, well presented and comfortable."
Everything you needed for a enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Seaview is a great location wether you stay local for the day or evening walks along the beach after touring the island. It is close to lots of other places to visit and an ideal spot to vacate

"Only criticism would be that the property is a little small"
-
"The perfect location for a peaceful holiday, - and only 5 minutes from the sea."
The chalet was clean and comfortable and very well-provisioned. Everything we could possibly need was provided.
-
"The car parking was approximately 100 metres from the accommodation with 3 steps at various points."
The description should have mentioned this as one of the party had mobility issues and found it difficult to access the property. Also when unloading at beginning of stay and loading at end of holiday was time consuming and tiring for the elderly driver. Please amend the description to highlight this issue.

"Small cottage."
comfortable and clean. Good location for sea front and Ryde. Lovely walk to Ryde along the beech . Beautiful Island . We were very lucky weather was glorious.
-
"It was a fair chalet, wouldn't say cottage at all, It was good as a base, but could have been cleaner, the floor didn't appear to have been brushed when we arrived and we had a problem with tiny flies/midges inside, The dining table leg was broken when we got there , but after a phone call it was sorted quickly ,thankyou."
I would more than likely use again if we were to visit the IOW again at any point

"We thought we had booked a cottage, the property should be listed as a chalet."
Part of the blind on the patio doors where missing. Kitchen cupboard door missing and the shower had seem better days.
-
"We had a really great time, Drakes cottage had everything we needed (apart from a parasol) and was in a fabulous location for going to the beach."
We used the cottage as a base for exploring the island but it was also a perfect place for a lazy day. We especially enjoyed the afternoon sunshine on the decking for a cheeky G&T!

About the location
SEAVIEW
Ryde 2.6 miles.
Seaview is a small Edwardian seaside village on the north eastern shores of the Isle of Wight, only a 15 minute drive from the superb transport links of Ryde. Seaview is one of the South of England’s most famous holiday destinations, with a reputation of being an upmarket resort. This lovely seaside resort has stunning views out across the Solent, gorgeous golden sandy beaches, a sailing club, boutique shops and many popular restaurants and pubs, such as The Seaview Hotel and The Old Fort. On the coastal footpath towards Ryde just off Springvale is Puckpool Park, an old Victorian Fortification Battery, now with tennis courts, mini-golf and a children’s play area set within its pretty gardens. In the summer, locals and tourists take part in the famous Seaview Regatta, competing in many traditional activities, with races on the beach at Seagrove Bay, rowing in the village’s own unique boats, tug of war, the greasy pole and diving, all concluded at the end of the week with a magnificent firework display. As well as being a coastal village the nearby countryside at Seaview’s Duver is a nature reserve, with frequent visits from the beautiful red squirrel, as well as having an incredible array of bird life.
