  • "Brilliant host who makes sure that your stay is comfortable."

Great location with no light or noise pollution. Was worried about charging my EV car as the property is in the middle of nowhere; the host has an EV charger onsite and allowed us to use it at their regular electric tariff rate.

  • "The property was absolutely lovely, nice cosy fire place, nice sized rooms and the owners were super helpful when we needed extra bits for the lodge."

Hot tub was lovely and the grounds were nice and semi private. The only thing I would say as a negative is, it's not ideal for little ones, it should be known that it's not safe and secure enough for anyone under 5 or 6. The decking is super slippy and my children had numerous accidents on the decking We couldn't manage to get the hot tub really hot, just luke warm. There is also an additional fee for the logs and kindling for the hot tub which for the cost to stay we were surprised by. When stripping the beds, we found a very suspicious stain on the sheet which made us feel uneasy as to what we had been sleeping in. I think all in all, it's more suitable for a group of adults rather than a young family going to stay.

  • "As a group of 6 adults and 1 dog, we enjoyed our week at Middle Hivron."

It had everything we needed and a large living room/kitchen which was great for gathering. Bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely, especially the master bedroom with ensuite. The hot tub and outdoor space was fantastic, although could benefit from some more outdoor seating. We used the hot tub every night and also used the pizza oven which was great! I would say that the photos taken on the listing are quite old and outdated, the kitchen/lounge doesn't look like that any more! The hosts were doing building work up at the farm during our stay - they did apologise for the inconvenience and gave us a lovely gift, but being woken up at 7.30am by tractors/diggers the one day wasn't really ideal. The garden could have been made more dog-proof - my little dog had to stay on the lead as she could have easily squeezed through some of the gaps in the fence. The house has a fly problem and we had to put up fly paper during our stay, felt a bit unhygienic cooking and eating with so many flies around. WiFi was also awful and pretty much unusable, so don't expect to use your phones/laptops much during your stay!

Was clean and comfortable but lots of little things that need fixing and a bad smell from the septic tank. Internet connection very poor so when trying to work whilst away this wasn't possible. Lovely views and eveything we needed in the lodge.

Perfect little getaway for those needing a peaceful break. Cottage was well equipped (even for children & babies), clean & cosy. Books, games, leaflets and some DVD’s. Kitchen had tea, coffee and milk on arrival. We didn’t need to use it but noticed they had a swinging cot, travel cot, baby bath and Bumbo seat in the bathroom cupboard and plastic bowls and cups in the kitchen. The views from the bedrooms were of rolling hills, breathtakingly beautiful. Plenty of space for a party of 7. Hot Tub was a great treat after some long walks. Fab position for trips - Elan Valley, Judges Lodgings, Fish-pools and Water Break it’s Neck Waterfall. We travelled with grandparents and a young adult as well as our children aged 8 and 10 and everyone had an amazing time. Rachel, Andy and their family made the holiday extra special by allowing our children to get first hand experience with their chickens, sheep, horses and dogs - Andy even took us out with his Lurcher at night which was so special for the children as they got to see a Barn Owl and a really clear view of the Milky Way! His local knowledge is second to none. We received a card from the owners saying we’d been lovely guests and we’d always be welcome back which was a lovely touch. Will recommend to everyone we know and we’ll definitely be back!

They really had thought of everything with local maps and suggested activities. Wood burning hot tub was easy to use and Rachel provided the wood. Lovely to sit on the veranda and watch the hawks and red kites in the valley and general wonderful scenery. Excellent location as base for walking, e.g. Elan Valley . Local pub in Bleddfa now closed. Local roads not suitable for walking on due to the speed of the traffic and lots of bends. Local Forestry Commission Fishpools trail was great for a 90 min walk. Ordered a veg box in advance from Rhos Gardens www.rhosorganic.co.uk/ which was delivered to the cottage. Certainly one of the best cottages we'd stayed in.
