  • "Lovely cottage very comfortable and placed very centrally, ideal in fact for our holiday requirements"

  • "The property is very centrally situated, even in this relatively small market town."

It is set behind a pub, which can get noisy in the evening with their beer garden a few feet from the front door of the property. The front/main bedroom is also opposite a street lamp which is very bright (although does get switched off later until early morning again. The parking is great - do get the side alley key from the cottage before you unload your car, as it makes it a much shorter journey! The cottage is well equipped, but recommend on bringing your own 'essentials' like milk - we stay in a lot of these properties and it is often hard to predict what will be provided as a 'welcome' pack, and you can assume very little here, which is fine if you know that. We found the provision of dishwasher tablets (a couple), washing machine powder/tablets (none) and toilet paper (not enough to last us (2 adults) the week) was sub-optimal, so again, be aware of that and plan ahead. Food highlight was the mobile pizza van - order on line and pick up from the very-near-by centre of town. Indigo indian was ok. Angie's cafe did a great breakfast with some friendly banter thrown in too. We had a great stay and this really is a wonderful location for long walks and town shopping.

Thank you Matt for your valuable feedback. Chancery cottage is located as you mention, in the centre of town yet nestled in a lovely lane which has the benefit of no through traffic. It's quiet yet the restaurant garden does back onto the lane so from time to time in the long summer nights the ambient noise can travel. As it's a public lane there is a residential street lamp which is perfect for keeping the lane lit at night and for the comfort of the guests the curtains have been fitted with blackouts which reduces excess light spill from the streetlamp. The cottage is self-catering so guests tend to bring their own supplies for their stay and as it's so centrally located there are food shops within easy walking distance to replenish. A good range of of essential products are supplied but perhaps these need to be better labelled/displayed so thank you we will look at this. So pleased you both had an great stay and really look forward to welcoming you again in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Another comfy cosy stay."

Everything you would need in the cottage, with the bonus of lovely outside space. Hay as delightful as ever.

  • "Dealing with you was really easy and fast."

Only problem we had was the three notifications of cleaning up when we left. Of course we clean up. We are in our 70's and alway leave a place as we find it, apart from the necessary, ready for the cleaners. This cottage does not sleep four adults. The bed in room two is a king single, two children but never two adults. The main bed is a standard double, ok for small adults, hence we used both beds. Cottage is ideally situated in middle if town, perfect location and we had a lovely three days.

  • "Our stay was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the proximity of the cottage to the centre of Hay, It was clean and well equipped."

I would have appreciated being told of the builders nextdoor in the contact email (starting at Eight in the morning especially on a Saturday!!!!) However the owners of that property apologized for the inconvenience (which helped)

Thank you for your comments and so pleased you had an enjoyable stay. The close proximity to all the town's shops and hospitality works well so you can stroll in rather than needing a car. In regard to the early start I can only apology on behalf of the owners and the builders as they had advised no weekend working and would not commence work at an unreasonable hour. If their change of plans has been communicated then of course you would have been notified in the contact email. Look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was just what we needed."

Great location for everything in Hay. The only let down was the amount of dust and dog hair, some salt and pepper would have been nice.
