"We found the property exactly as described in the Sykes details."
It was comfortable, well-equipped and a super location for our family of three and dog to explore Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding area. Extremely handy to have the parking space.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, we're glad you had a lovely time.

"This property was very clean and comfortable."
The stairs were steep and narrow but we had been warned about this before we arrived. The location was ideal for a stay in Hay on Wye. Having off-street parking was a definite plus point.

"Weather not good but was great to get back to the cottage after trips out."
Cottage was warm, clean and cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. Ideally situated in heart of Hay but so quiet and peaceful that we could have been in middle of countryside. short walk to pubs, shops etc.
Glad you had an enjoyable stay at the cottage. Sorry that the weather wasn't the best. Better luck next time.

"We had a lovely long weekend at Page-turner's cottage."
The cottage was warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean and within a short walking distance of the town centre with its restaurants and, of course, its bookshops. We would certainly return, hopefully in better weather, to do some walking in the area.
So glad you had a lovely visit. You would be very welcome to visit again, but I'm afraid we can't guarantee the weather!

"We enjoyed our stay in Page-turner's Cottage, and liked Hay on Wye a lot too."
The cottage is very well positioned, near the centre of the town, close to shops and places to eat and the castle, and just round the corner from the Three Tuns pub (excellent food and beer, well priced too). We went on lots of great walks up in the hills with our dog straight from the cottage and didn't use our car all week. The cottage is small but pretty comfortable and the kitchen had everything you need to cook good meals. We would be very happy to stay there again.

"Lovely cosy cottage in a very convenient location to take advantage of all that Hay has to offer."
Kitchen well equipped and very nice homely touches such as a mini-library of books for rainy days and a welcome pack of essentials. Great that it is dog friendly too.
Only minor gripe is that the mattress was a little hard for our liking but we'd definitely be happy to come and stay again.

"Very small cottage but does have everything you could need."
The 2nd bedroom is very small and the mattress is uncomfortable, probably OK for a child but not an adult. The courtyard was gloomy and dark, although there was a garden space you could use it wasn't private. We didn't cook but would not like to make a meal in the small space. The cottage was in a good location to the town and was OK for a couple.
Glad you liked the location, Hay-on-Wye is a wonderful town. Sorry if you found the bed in the 2nd bedroom too small, for clarity, it is in fact a small single bed, so the standard length but 2ft 6in wide. We like to think of the cottage as cozy and characterful.

"Good location, well maintained, he."
Lpful manager. Incredibly cramped, not suitable for the elderly. It's not normal to be expected to strip beds when leaving a property like this.
We prefer the term cosy to cramped: the cottage is not suitable for those with mobility issues as stated in the detailed description. We're happy to hear that you found our excellent housekeeper helpful; we find that most people are happy to help her by stripping the beds.

"Lovely, well-equipped cottage in a great location."
Five minutes walk from riverside walks, independent coffee shack and the town/shops. The cottage is dog friendly but there is no outdoor space for dogs as the courtyard is tiny. There is a garden space belonging to the cottage but it is not enclosed. We had a lovely comfortable stay and would recommend especially due to the location.
Thank you for your lovely review, so glad you had a comfortable stay. A good point about outdoor space for dogs, we'll update the details to make that clearer. Hope to see you again.

Clean, comfortable and well-equipped with everything that we needed for our Easter week in Hay on Wye. We took our little dog and there were plenty of local walks as well as trips further afield.

"The cottage is well set up & cared for."
, spotlessly clean & comfortable. We knew about the stairs & they were a bit difficult for me as I am late 70's & not in the best of health. However, with care it did not spoil the holiday. It is ideally situated on the outskirts of Hay & quite close to the walks along the River Wye. Another good Sykes cottage.
Thank you very much for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage.

"We had a very enjoyable week's stay in March."
we found the cottage both warm and nicely furnished and which also had very comfortable beds.
It is a great location for the town's bookshops and the car parking was excellent and also conveniently located. We strongly recommend that visitors try eating at the Tomalitos Tapas Bar on Lion Street. Really good choice of food , close by and the owners are friendly and helpful . Open because of staff shortages from Wed thru to Saturdays-but may be that situation will change. We had a problem with the TV but I gather that that has been resolved by the purchase of a new TV!
Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and your time in Hay-on-Wye. Indeed the cottage is now furnished with a new Smart TV & DVD player, so thanks for your feedback on this, and sorry you didn't get to use it yourselves. You would be welcome to visit again.

"This is the perfect spot to get to know Hay and its surrounding area."
The house is central, 5 minutes walk to almost anything you like in the centre of Hay or the Co-op on the "outskirts", but it's magically quiet in a small back lane, with no traffic past the front door. The dedicated parking spot at the rear makes it easy to unload any luggage safely and the storage/bike shed is a great addition.
The cottage is definitely compact, but it doesn't feel cramped and the thoughtful layout of the rooms, the storage and the all the creature comforts you could possibly want for, make it a super comfortable and top quality stay!
Lovely details on arrival of complementary hot drinks, milk, fresh juice and biscuits were a delightful welcome after a long journey, and helped us recharge and settle in while we got ourselves ready to explore!
The beds are really comfortable, the house is warm and very well heated for a super cosy winter stay.
Thank you for the feedback; we're glad you enjoyed your stay at the cottage.

"Cottage was in an undesirable untidy location
Cottage was end of a terrace of 7
No garden."
Patio area was at the other end of the terrace on a patch of gravel
Kitchen and shower room too small
No outlook on any side.
A travesty of a holiday let and very expensive
We came straight home
We ask that you read our response before taking this review too seriously.
The cottage is an end of terrace Victorian workers cottage which is better described as characterful, charming and cosy than spacious, but, the kitchen is the size of the kitchen in the photo, the shower room is the size of the shower room in the photo. There is a garden, and it is the one in the photo.
The cottage is a 5 minute stroll from the centre of Hay-on-Wye, but it is true that if you were expecting, say, ‘herds of wildebeest..’ then you might find this undesirable.
We have been informed that this guest “booked the property without fully checking”; and we would urge future guests to have a look at the photos and description before booking to ensure that it suits their needs.
We are sorry that this guest felt the need to leave such an unfair and unkind review, but we ask that potential guests use their own judgement in deciding whether to book Page-turner’s Cottage.
