  • "We had a wonderful stay, we absolutely loved Nash Cottage."

Courtney, Kate and the family were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was exceptionally clean, cosy and warm. It was lovely to relax and enjoy the beautiful garden. A big thankyou for making our stay such an enjoyable experience, we have taken home some wonderful memories.

Thank you BOTH for the card, flowers, beer, chocolate's etc. It really was a joy meeting you and all the family. Yes, we had fun too and that’s what holidays are about. When you’re in the area again just pop in we’ll be here. C &K. x Property Owner

  • "The cottage is lovely and has everything you need for a comfortable stay."

The owners are very friendly, accommodating and make you feel welcome. The only suggestion is a sizeable comfortable rug for dog (s) to sleep on in the kitchen as the downstairs is all tiled, cold and hard for a dog to lay on for some time. It is well placed to be able to visit local attractions, neighbouring towns and counties. The Angel Pub is nice and convenient only being a 5 minute walk. A lovely and peaceful stay. Thank you.

Melanie. Thank you for your kind comments ,we are glad you had such a great time . There is indeed a lot to do in the area . The stone flooring does help to keep the cottage cooler in the summertime and as the temperature drops the underfloor heating works well. Sorry the large rug which the dining table sits on did not suit . We could so easily have provided extra on request . We loved having you stay . Thank you so much for leaving the cottage as you found it .Do come again and we will be ready for you .Best wishes C&K Property Owner

  • "Lovely traditional style cottage joined to owners cottage but with own secure sunny garden area with furniture and bbq."

Large kitchen with everything you would need and more . Cozy living room with smart tv already loaded with netflix free view bbc player and itv player lovely log burner but also central heating if needed . Very comfortable king size bed in main bedroom which is only one we used but 2 other bedrooms one with 2 single beds and one with 1 cabin style bed . Great upstairs bathroom and toilet and downstairs off the conservatory there is a fantastic wet room and toilet. The owners have thought of everything you would need and information booklets and labels on everything you might need to use . Although attached to main house the owners are not at all intrusive but are there if you need any help or info on surrounding areas . There is off road parking for 1 vehicle and up few steps there is its own garden entrance so you are not disturbing owners . The village is a lovely traditional English village with couple of pubs that serve food and the Angel is dog friendly and has great menu and atmosphere and is in great location opposite village green . We never used the corners inn as dogs only allowed outside but looks lovely . There is also a small shop next door to the angel that also has cafe and tea room . Really enjoyable stay and thank you Katie,Courtney and Arthur for a fantastic holiday.

It’s weeks and guests like yourself that really make the effort worthwhile, thank you both. So pleased you had such a wonderful week . We Very much enjoyed meeting you , continue to have a lovely summer and next year come in time for the village dog show . Best wishes. C & K Property Owner

This was a repeat visit and this time was as good as the first last year. The location is ideal for exploring the sites of Herefordshire and neighbouring counties. Off road parking is a bonus and Kingsland has two welcoming pubs. Both have decent menus. Having said that, the cottage is well equipped to support those that prefer to stay in. It is immaculately clean and comfortable. It is dog friendly and the gardens are secure. Only 3 miles to a supermarket for all your supplies. We love it and will book again. We will book again.

  • "Nash Cottage is a lovely little property in an attractive Herefordshire village with two pubs and a village shop and post office."

The cottage itself was spotlessly clean when we arrived and on the second day the owner called on us to check that everything was ok. Our dogs were happy there too and enjoyed their walks in and around the village. My only criticism is, I think, aimed at Sykes rather than the owners of the cottage. In every previous holiday property we have rented there has been a visitors' book where previous tenants had entered their experiences and preferences for tourist sites, restaurants, pubs, nearby towns etc. We always found these helpful. But at Nash Cottage there was just a small notebook for entering adverse comments about the property. I was not surprised to see that this was empty. Perhaps you at Sykes Holidays could look into this.

Thank you for your fair and valid comments , we will put a visitor’s book in the cottage and hope it gets used and is of help to future guests. Best wishes Property Owner

  • "Nash Cottage was so well equipped, and very comfortable."

It was very easy to find, unlike some cottages we have been to. The owners were most helpful. Biscuits, sachets of coffee and tea, plus a bottle of milk, were waiting on the table. We came with our dog, and the cottage even had a small bin, outside, to put the doggy bags in. There was a file, packed full of information about what to do, and where to go. Information about using the various kitchen equipment was also provided. For my husband and myself, who are not tech savvy, it was essential. Everywhere was clean, spotless, and the bed was perfect, neither too soft or too hard. We slept well, ate well and relaxed. Croft Castle and Berrington Hall were within easy reach, and the grounds were ideal for the dog walk. Croft Castle even has an area in their café, where you can go in with your dog. The surrounding countryside is stunning. Kingsland has a Post Office and shop/café, which proved useful. Newspapers could be bought from a local farm, where we also bought eggs. A visit to the black and white houses of Penbridge, gave us photo opportunities, as did Kington. We will certainly recommend Nash Cottage to anyone keen to see Herefordshire.

Thank you both. It was lovely to finally meet our Very First booking guests and most grateful for leaving the Cottage as you found it bless you. We will take on board your suggestion of putting out a book ‘ Tips from Guests to Guests’. Best Wishes . Property Owner

About the location

KINGSLAND

Leominster 4.5 miles; Ludow 13 miles; Hereford 16.5 miles.

The ancient village of Kingsland boasts two good pubs - the welcoming Angel pub and The Corners Inn, both serving hearty pub fare and local ales, perfect for when you don’t fancy cooking! – Kingsland also houses a Post Office and a village store.

Another great dining spot is The Riverside at Aymestrey, winner of Great British Pub Awards 'Best Sustainable Pub 2022' and ‘Herefordshire’s Best Restaurant 2021’.

Many fun, group and family-friendly activities can be enjoyed in the area including a high wire rope course, paintball, quad trekking and raft building, all of which are available at the local Oaker Wood activity centre.

Within a short drive you will find the esteemed National Trust sites of Croft Castle, a castellated 17th-century manor house where you can tour both the interior and grounds or why not visit Capability Brown’s final complete estate (which includes a serpentine pool) at Berrington Hall, a stunning neoclassical 18th-century mansion designed by Henry Holland. Further afield the Judge's Lodgings in Presteigne, Stokesay Castle, the renowned Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre and the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm are also all well worth a visit.

The thriving village of Yarpole, equidistant between the pretty market towns of Ludlow and Leominster, and mentioned in the “Domesday Book”, boasts an award-winning community shop - the first full time shop in a church - along with a traditional country pub and a Post Office. Just a short walk from the village is Bircher Common, an area of lowland heath offering lovely views of the surrounding Marches, ideal for enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the area. Close by, enjoy an afternoon visit to the Monkland Cheese Dairy, a working dairy producing and selling local, artisan cheeses, as well as offering a well-stocked shop and café.

Next stop is Leominster, where you can delve into history at the Leominster Museum, browse the many antique shops or attend the annual Leominster Festival (May-June). Dating back to the 7th century the town is home to some magnificent examples of architecture, including the Priory Church, along with a wide variety of shops, cafes, and pubs – it’s an ideal place to spend an afternoon.

For a super day out (or two!) why not visit historic Ludlow, home to one of the finest medieval castle ruins in England and more than 500 listed buildings, wander down to the River Teme or visit Whitcliffe Common Nature Reserve or the weekly Ludlow Market. Annual Food (September) and Fringe (June-July) Festivals are also very popular highlights. Within easy reach are Ironbridge (one of the first UK locations to be designated a World Heritage Site) and Hay-on-Wye (world-renowned for its bookshops).

For even more things to do and see venture onto Hereford, here you’ll find the Black and White Museum (built in 1621) and the golden-stone Hereford Cathedral - home to the Mappa Mundi (Hereford's famous medieval map used by scholars to interpret the world over 700 years ago) and the captivating, chained library (a collection of rare and ancient books). Set in the former Bulmers Cider Factory the Museum of Cider is also worth a visit.

Browse a blend of high street and independent shops, the latter clustered along Church Street and explore the Old Market, transformed into an open-air destination for shopping and dining. For theatre and comedy head to The Courtyard for a great evening’s live entertainment.
