    Pubs and shops are just a 5min walk away. Owner has made lots of effort to ensure that guests have everything they need, including leaving some nice nibbles (thank you!).

  • "Myrtle Villa is a great house with a lovely, secure garden."

    The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped with lots of attention to detail. It has the best ever shower cubicle! Parking was fine for us with a Seat Arona. The house is located in an area of stunning countryside with great walks from the door. The train station is a five minute walk away and we caught a train twice to a nearby village and walked back.

  • "A great find."

    Ideal as a walking base. Great access from the property for walks through Kinsley Wood, and then on to Offas Dyke and beyond. Came for a break with my dog and Myrtle Cottage was an excellent starting point. The cottage itself was warm, comfortable, well laid out, fully equipped, and clean and tidy. The bathroom was big, with plenty of hot water after a hard days walking. The garden was great for my dog, fenced and big enough.No complaints and would definitely recommend.

  • "Absolutely wonderful."

    The cottage was lovely and warm and cosy with a nice garden to watch the birds. Lots of enjoyable walks from the doorstep and loads to do further afield (the Elan Valley is well worth a visit). Knighton itself has plenty of nice shops, pubs and places to eat. We will definitely be back soon!

  • "Wanted for nothing."

    Lovely bathroom, excellent heating, kitchen very well equiped, nice garden, overall good cottage. Couple small negatives....slightly difficult manouvering to park an estate car and steep staircase for elderly. Apart from those minor points a very enjoyable stay and would thoroughly recommend.

  • "It's such a charming cottage, well stocked and good quality products."

    Only little thing that could be improved is the garden. It was a bit tricky to walk around with the amount of overgrown bushes. Thanks.

  • "Lovely, clean and cosy cottage, conveniently located for exploring the Shropshire hills and the Welsh borders etc."

    The garden is lovely and totally secure for our dog Melvyn, who loved lying on the decking whilst we drank tea and unwound. Whilst there is a train line at the bottom of the garden, the trains are very few and never intrusive. Finally, thanks to the host for the fabulous vegan gift pack - very unexpected and very much appreciated :-) We all look forward to staying again in the near future!

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

    The location of the cottage is ideal for us, close to the Offa Dyke walking path, the shops and station. We appreciated the snacks left for us after a long drive from London. Also, the cleaning products provided after my request. I was able to sit in the lovely garden and enjoy the peace and quiet on several days. This was our second stay in 6 months. I am sure we will be back!

  • "Myrtle villa is a really cosy and comfortable cottage."

    We loved the great big bath, perfect for a long soak after walks. We really appreciated the goodies that were left for us, thank you. The garden is lovely, especially for our dog as it was fully enclosed. It was also great to be able to do walks with our dog straight from the cottage and Knighton is a lovely friendly town with good amenities.

  • "We had a comfortable stay but there were a few little niggles."

    If you have any mobility issues, the stairs are narrow and quite steep with a turn at the top so care needs to be taken. Also the paths in the terraced garden were overgrown with vegetation but the patio was a lovely place to sit. The road outside is very narrow and the parking space is tight. There were no tea towels or hand towel in the kitchen and no hair dryer. It was a peaceful place to stay and the railway line was not a problem. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and thank you to the owners for the welcome gift of wine and chocolates and bread.

    As our first guests, we are grateful for your very helpful feedback and glad that you had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the welcome pack. We are sorry there were no tea towels or towel in the kitchen. These should have been put out for you and we'll ensure that this happens in future. The property

This characterful, former engine driver’s cottage, is set on the fringes of the market town of Knighton, close to the English/Welsh border.

Presented to a delightful standard with a south-facing, enclosed garden, Myrtle Villa welcomes four guests looking to escape to this delightful part of Shropshire.

The front door opens into an enclosed porch where you can leave your boots behind after a day of walking.

Relax in the welcoming lounge, with a TV, DVD player and crackling woodburning stove.

Across the hall is the dining room, with a window overlooking the garden, oak flooring and exposed stone walls, where you can enjoy hearty meals prepared in the amply equipped kitchen.

Whisk away upstairs and find the bedrooms; a double and a twin, with wooden floors and exposed stone work.

Completing the interior is the spacious bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for your day.

At the rear of the house is a decked area that overlooks the garden sloping gently towards the railway running beside the River Teme; perfect for an evening tipple or a morning coffee.

The market town of Knighton provides a great holiday base, offering a diverse range of shops including a supermarket, a butcher and a farm shop, offering seasonal produce and a range of homemade goods.

Those looking to get their steps in will have no trouble exploring the various walking paths in the area, including the Offa’s Dyke path and Owain Glyndwr's Way, or head across the road to explore Kinsley Wood.

Cyclists can join the 84-mile-long Radnor Ring Cycling Route which passes Myrtle Villa.

Knighton station on the Heart of Wales is a short walk away with a regular train service heading towards the historic Shrewsbury or through Llandrindod Wells.

Elsewhere in the region, the National Trust property of Powis Castle with its celebrated gardens and the medieval town of Ludlow, with its 13th century castle, are well worth a visit.

Head to Myrtle Villa and experience the beauty of Shropshire and the Welsh border.

The charming market town of Knighton nestles amidst lovely countryside on the banks of the River Teme, which straddles the English/Welsh border. This is a renowned location for walking, riding and cycling with Offa's Dyke actually passing through the town, which hosts the Offa's Dyke Information Centre. Owain Glyndwr's Way also runs through the heart of the town and Radnor Forest and the 84 mile long Radnor Ring Cycling Route are also both close by. Visit magnificent Powis Castle with its celebrated gardens, the breathtaking reservoirs of the Elan Valley and the lovely towns of Presteigne, Leominster and medieval Ludlow, with its famous 13th century castle, ancient buildings and wonderful restaurants. Hay-on-Wye, the Town of Books, with its famous annual literary festival, along with the Victorian Spa town of Llandrindod Wells are within easy driving distance. A wonderful location for exploring beautiful mid Wales, Shropshire and Herefordshire.
