  • "Such a wonderful home."

Lovely touches makes it feel homely. Very child friendly, and a great location! Have just booked again for next year.

  • "We loved our stay at Primrose Cottage, it felt like a real home from home."

We especially loved the walk down to the beach every day, as well as venturing further along the coastal path. Primrose Cottage was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need and is situated in a nice area with the Vine Inn a very shot walk away. We are already planning our next stay. Our only negative being the pillows on the bed were very flat, but that is a personal preference.

  • "We had a great stay at this lovely cottage."

Very spacious and comfortable, with a large lounge and big garden. The facilities were great - a really well stocked kitchen with all the pots/pans/plates etc etc you'd need, and so nice to access to things for the beach, kids games and books as well. Thank you!

The property

Primrose Cottage is a delightful, Victorian home nestled in the traditional countryside village of St. Helens, Isle of Wight.

Perfect for families, Primrose Cottage combines both a character feel with a contemporary interior, as well as being positioned perfectly for those seeking a countryside escape as well as a coastal one.

You will be greeted by the Victorian stained-glass door, welcoming you to your new holiday escape.

Roam through to the kitchen/dining room, where dinner parties and quality time with your family await.

The kitchen is not shy of amenities needed to serve up delicious new dishes, with a separate living space to curl up on the sofa watching television afterwards.

Or, if you are feeling competitive, be sure to choose one out of the many board game selection to perfectly tie in the night surrounded by your loved ones.

Have a scrub in the free-standing bathtub, or a long rinse in the large wet room, before choosing one out of the three bedrooms; a ground-floor twin, an upstairs bunk room and a double, all of which boast a light and airy feel awaiting sleepy heads.

Leaving the patio doors open from the living room, venture outside with the family with plenty of seating to contemplate how you will spend the next day.

On warmer days when the kitchen can wait, be sure to get the tongs out and utilise the barbecue, accompanied by your favourite drink to go with it.

With a locked shed perfect for bikes or water sporting accessories, sun loungers to relax on warmer months, as well as a sheltered seating area so you do not overheat, there is everything and more in the garden to make it hard to leave!

The Isle of Wight has many attractions, all of which are not out of reach; the peaceful beach options are endless and are what the island is famous for.

Priory Beach, Duver Beach and Bembridge Beach, to name a few, all await sandcastle-making, rock-pooling and water sports.

For those seeking to try something new, hire a horse ride at Duver Beach and take in the idyllic scenery.

If you want to try kayaking for the first time, Brading Yacht Club is right at your doorstep and offers plenty of activities like sailing and paddle boarding.

Cachalot Charters is also within walking distance, ideal for fishing fanatics, they offer many different Mackerel trips, ranging from beginner to experienced anglers, catering to your needs.

The hiking and walking routes around are endless; the beaches all link across a coastal path.

For a challenging walk at low tide, head to St Helen’s Sea Fort and explore this historical landmark from the outside.

Tie in the evening with fish and chips on the harbour, or check out one of the restaurants right at your doorstep; The Vine Inn for traditional pub grub, or Ganders, offering plethora of dishes to suit your palate.

With the local village green right up the road, it has an old English-style community feel, often hosting many fetes, car boot sales, cricket and football matches.

About the location

ST HELENS

Bembridge 2 miles; Ryde 5 miles.

The village of St Helens lies in a coastal position on high ground, on the eastern side of the Isle of Wight, between Bembridge and Seaview. St Helens is a traditional English village, with the village green at the centre of village life, providing cricket and football pitches, a children’s playground and superb views right across Bembridge Harbour and Culver Down. The village also offers superb restaurants, pub, newsagent, Post Office and grocery store. A short walk takes you to The Duver, an NT area of shingle and sand, and once the site of a Royal links golf course. The beach here is very family friendly, with sand and shingle, perfect for making sandcastles and collecting seashells as well as crabbing off the Bembridge Harbour Causeway. There is the popular Baywatch Café, with all the amenities you need for the perfect day at the beach, and stunning views of the Solent and St Helens Fort. The fort was built to protect Portsmouth from a French invasion between 1867 and 1880, and at the lowest tide of the summer, there is a mass walk of up to 2000 people from the beach out to the fort and back again, with driftwood fires and barbecues.
