  • "Well located for Bembridge and local beach walks."

The property was well equipped, acceptable and plenty of space for a family of 4, as described. Good comms and got in a bit earlier on arrival. Only few constructive niggles we noticed (or had) were, the property could do with a good spring clean, ie high level/lights, under sofas etc. plus some minor DIY maintenance, blown bulb in bedroom, the only clothes hooks hanging off wall etc, clean/oil garden furniture etc. really just all the smaller details, clean the extract fans, sort the shower leak and bath panel as this has also clearly also taken a beating. We also found both single bed mattresses too soft, I ended up doing a week on the sofa which was more comfortable in the end. TV signal was pretty useless, be worth investing in a smart TV nowadays, and we couldn’t get the drier to work on any drying cycles so had to use the heating more. A shelf or clothes storage in front bedroom would also be ideal. Local pub was okay for a drink, never tried the food. All fairly quiet in late Autumn but suspect noiser in summer months from pub goers.

The property

Crab Cottage is a lovely detached cottage set in the heart of Bembridge on the Isle of Wight.

This cottage is just as suitable for friends as it is for families; its superb layout is ideal and its location in this historic village gives access to some excellent pubs, restaurants, shops and beaches.

The property is brand new and has been designed as a holiday home to provide stunning accommodation and spacious rooms.

Inside you will find a lovely open-plan living space, with two navy sofas set around the large flatscreen TV, which has been mounted on the wall.

The rooms have a light decor, with a splash of colour in the furniture and ocean blue window frames.

Step into the fitted kitchen, with its modern navy units and solid oak worktops, it's the perfect space for some home cooking and socialising at the breakfast bar.

The kitchen provides a large Smeg range cooker and American fridge fridge with its own 36 bottle wine cooler included.

There is lovely dining table with seating for up to eight people, and views out to the patio and hot tub.

Upstairs are three thoughtfully presented bedrooms; the master double has its very own en-suite shower room finished to a very high-standard with glossy blue tiles and double width shower.

There are also built-in wardrobes and matching beside tables to the other double.

The last bedroom provides flexibility with either single beds or another double with link beds.

The main bathroom has a bath with shower overhead and a freestanding wide sink unit.

Off-road parking is available for two cars, and there are a set of patio doors leading from the dining room, out to an enclosed patio area with a table and chairs and a luxurious hot tub.

Whatever the weather, the hot tub is sure to keep you warm and your muscles relaxed.

Enjoy a soak in the afternoon sun, then sit on the patio and treat yourself with a glass of champagne.

Nearby attractions include Priory Bay, a bay with a sandy beach, perfect for your little ones to run around, with 7.5 acres of surrounding National Trust woodland and an offshore anchor point.

Guaranteed to be a fun day out for the whole family.

Crab Cottage is an excellent cottage for those family breaks.

Where you’ll be staying

BEMBRIDGE

Ryde 7 miles; Newport 11 miles; Cowes 16 miles; Yarmouth 20 miles.

Bembridge sits on the most eastern point of the Isle of Wight, and it is claimed to be the biggest village in England. Bembridge used to be an island in its own right, and until the Victorian era, was a collection of wooden huts and farmhouses, hence Bembridge remains somewhat detached from the rest of the island even today, which adds to its charm. Bembridge is considered to be one of the most upmarket areas on the island and offers a surprisingly busy intertidal sheltered harbour, which is always full of pleasure crafts and fishing boats providing a constant flow of traffic to and from The Solent. From the harbour you will find quiet beaches consisting of sand and pebbles, perfect for swimming, beachcombing and crabbing and in high winds you will see plenty of kite surfing activity. As you walk along Bembridge beach, you will discover the lifeboat station, cafes and the famous Crab & Lobster Inn, as well as the magnificent Culver Cliffs as your backdrop. The village centre offers a good range of small shops, with its award-winning butcher's and 'The Best Dressed Crab in Town' which is situated in Bembridge harbour, you can also sample local produce from the greengrocer's, visit the art gallery and much more; in fact everything you should need while holidaying here.
