  • "The place was dirty - we found a scouring pad under the double bed and a hair band that is not ours under the wardrobe (visible near the edge) in the bedroom with 2 beds."

The tap to the bath leaked, the walls behind the hob are filthy (why isn’t there a wipeable splash back there?) The doors have oil on the bike chain part which our son inadvertently touched and got on his clothes.

  • "We had a lovely time, we could have done with a toaster and we bought our own hairdryer."

The seagulls are a bit of a problem and the outside table and chairs were really too dirty to use.

  • "The property was clean & comfortable and set in very nice grounds."

We scored slightly lower on the cleanliness as we had to wash the cutlery before we could use it. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay and we would recommend it.

  • "We have enjoyed many holidays at the Isle of Wight and the West Bay Club."

It’s a shame that all the facilities have now closed. Upon arrival there was large random 2m plus length of wood next to the table lent up against the wall. Not very safe for children. The outside porch was too small for 2 adults and 2 children to sit on. The welcome back has dish washer tablets inside, but no dish washer. Only 4 dinner plates. Couple of the glasses have cracks in them. The WiFi code wasn’t readily available and I had to move the TV table to locate the code on the box attached to the wall, not the router. The TV turned on after I had to take the old leaking batteries out that expired in March 2016!!!! To find that it turned on but would not tune in to any channels!!! The spare pillows for the kids room were dirty. The wardrobe in the main bedroom not practical to use as it has utility equipment inside. We have stayed in 7 properties before at the West Bay Club, all the others have been fantastic, this one was poor and I will never book this one again!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your response. The club house on site was closed around 3/4 years ago which is why we do not mention this on our description so as not to cause any confusion. We can only apologise for the oversight regarding the wood in the garden; this was left behind by the workmen who have recently renewed all the flooring throughout the kitchen and en-suite. Again, apologies for the dishwasher tablet, I can only assume that this was included in your welcome pack in error since we do not advertise a dishwasher. The cleaners had left the Clothing airer in the wardrobe whom did not think this would cause a disruption, I will look to remove this and place elsewhere. We have taken on board your feedback regarding the crockery as well as the wifi code and will look into this as soon as we can. We do leave a contact number in the property for any issues and would have gladly assisted you during your stay had we known of these issues! Thank you again for leaving your comments, they are appreciated. Property Owner

  • "A map to locate the property would have been helpful."

The site was like a ghost town and had no signage. Items in the fridge froze so clearly earlier feed back had been ignored. Uncomfortable bed springs in the two single beds. Two areas of sunken floor in the master bedroom which are a trip hazard and therefore a health and safety issue. Good luck getting water from the showers in both bathrooms, litres of water flushed away to get warm water and no chance of keeping a constant pressure or heat. Be aware that the property is as far away from the car park as possible. - it would have been nice to have been made aware of this. Rusty luggage trolleys are available - it would have been nice to have been made aware of this also.

  • "Nice holiday site but a shame none of the facilities were open - no pool or gym and the swings had been removed from the play area."

No Wi-Fi in the property - the free site one was the only available and signal not strong enough. Some of the property's fixtures and fittings were in need of repair or dated - the fridge freezer section leaked unless you turned it up high and then it froze the fresh food in the fridge which was annoying and wasted our food. The double bed was a bit old and uncomfortable and all of the pillows and duvets were flat and had seen better days. Also why a winter duvet in august?

The property

Settled on the grounds of the desirable West Bay Club & Spa, a stone's throw from the popular town of Yarmouth, rests this pleasant single-storey holiday home, Pierpont D1.

Pierpont D1 is an excellent base for both families and friends looking to discover the Isle of Wight.

Stepping inside, be charmed by the warm and homely interior of the open-plan living space, sure to be the heart of the home, where you can look forward to cosying up in front of the television to enjoy a family-favourite, or gathering together at the dining table to tuck-in to a hearty meal.

Tucked away at the rear of the sociable space is the kitchen, traditionally-decorated with wooden fixtures and equipped with a fantastic range of facilities.

In the warmer months, throw open the patio doors and carry the conversation to the garden, where you can soak in the last of the evening sunshine with a glass of fizz in hand.

When the day draws to a close, retreat indoors to catch your rest in one of two well-presented bedrooms, with a double with it's own en-suite and a twin room to choose from; a family bathroom fit with both a bath and an overhead shower is situated across the way.

For those evenings where you don't fancy doing the cooking, take the short walk to the local pub, the Boathouse Yarmouth, where you can dine with an unspoilt view of the glistening waters of The Solent, or take your pick from a fabulous range of takeaways in nearby Yarmouth.

History buffs will delight with a visit to the 16th century Tudor fortress of Yarmouth Castle, whilst those looking to cast their line can try their hand at fishing aboard Yarmouth Pier.

With a network of walking trails across the island, there's plenty for the avid outdoor adventurer to see and do; soak in the spectacular views from the Isle of Wight Coastal Path, stretching over 70 miles around the perimeter of the island, or keep your eyes peeled for seals and sea birds hiding amongst the peaceful Newtown National Nature Reserve.

For a lazy afternoon spent at the beach, take the quirky chairlift from the clifftop to reach the glorious sands of Alum Bay Pebble Beach, and why not take a pleasure cruise to come up close with the dramatic Needles Rocks and Lighthouse?

An adventure awaits with a stay at Pierpont D1.

About the location

YARMOUTH

Newport 12 miles; Ryde 18 miles.

The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouth’s narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII’s castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path. Why not take an energetic stroll at the nearby Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, with Colwell Bay with its sandy beach and amenities for the family 7 minutes away by car. Yarmouth's pier and sailing club jetty is another good spot for crabbing. Four miles away is Compton Bay, famous for dinosaur remains; head there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet. West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Yarmouth is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful island.
