"An idyllic setting with all the facilities needed for our weeks break."
We booked again for next year which says it all really!
-
"Our second visit to these apartments and again enjoyed the accommodation and location."
Minor issues with a small window requiring maintenance as well as the taps ideally being checked. Like ourselves other residents were revisiting from previous times.

"This was an amazing location and with a few changes the cottage would be too."
The furniture is very dated and cutlery etc is cheap quality and not appealing. The dining table was really dirty and the scatter cushions were smelly and needed a good wash. There were 5 cheap plastic coat hangers but none to hang trousers. The bottom drawer of the wardrobe was broken (but there was plenty of other cupboard space. The bathroom was very dated and smelled foisty...we had to keep the heater on. The bed was really comfortable and the bedding immaculately The patio is shared with next door so absolutely no privacy if this is what you want. The kitchen window doesn't close properly and you hear every conversation outside (which means they can also hear you) It is also worth noting that towels and a hairdryer are not provided. With a bit updating it would be fabulous.

"We had a fabulous time at the Boathouse apartment which is in an amazing location with stunning views of the Solent."
The room was fairly basic, but had most things we needed and we were very comfortable for the week. The walk across the beach into Yarmouth was lovely (where we found the best fudge we've ever had at The Isle of Wight Fudge Company) and we had some great day trips out to see the sights of the island. We will definitely be back.

"Property requires a refurbishment and a deep clean, dead flies on inside windows and dirty inside and outside, oven only has one shelf and oven handle are insecure and hanging down all controls dirty."
Fridge only has one shelf and all door pockets for drinks ect missing fridge also constantly wet inside. centre ceiling light insecure and broken. All utensils are cheap and of poor quality, Property dirty in all places and made you feel uncomfortable. The location is unbeatable and i feel the owner relies on this for future bookings. Its a shame these holiday lets seem worse each time we visit. Sykes should bring these matters to the owners attention and ensure things are rectified if they keep advertising and rating the , property. this is not the first time we have advised on review.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, mainly because of the great weather and the fantastic location with sea view."
The bed was extremely comfortable. There were, however, a number of things that would have made the holiday better. Firstly, the cooker, the handles of the oven door are broken off and just barely hanging there. There is no grill rack on the grill pan, which is a basic necessity. A couple of chips in a plate and a cup. The fridge has shelves missing. But a suggestion, which would make such a massive difference to the enjoyment of the holiday would be a partition between the property and the property next to it, instead of having to share a patio with strangers. The property states 'a romantic' break for couples. This is so not a romantic situation having to overhear other people's conversations, speak quietly so they can't hear your conversations, and having to sit outside eating alongside strangers. As far as we were concerned this was a massive drawback and would probably deter us from booking again.

"Location is superb and I would stay there again for that reason alone."
However, the apartment is in serious need of updating, especially the cooker and the fridge. Fridge has one and a half shelves only with no door shelves and the handles on the oven are hanging off and it is very old. Additionally the mattress is extremely uncomfortable, which I had read before and clearly hasn't been sorted. Thank goodness I took the airbed. Finally the sofa needs a deep clean as it smells. This apartment could be much improved if a little money was spent on it. The tv was also very small. I did wonder if the cafe next door would be intrusive, but it wasn't, and the food was surprisingly good. I had a beautifully cooked piece of seabass. I would use again but the experience could be improved significantly if the owners would take the comments on board

"Wonderful view just loved being there we are coming back in August"
-
"Ideal location with friendly cafe next door ."
Property though is tired and now needs an uplift . We had to block the drafts in kitchen window . Handover and directions to property was great Certainly return

"Lovely location right on the beach, perfect for us as we had our dog with us."
Lots of dog friendly places in Yarmouth which is a short walk away. The accommodation is basic but comfortable.
-
"Good location, though the adjacent cafe 'closed for the winter' on Dec 11th as were the various attractions at Fort Victoria."
The Sykes listing should reflect these seasonal limitations. The appartment was comfortable and ideal for a couple with a dog, though our experience was let down by the inferior quality of the kitchen appliances and utensils, some of which need urgent replacement. The TV was too small for the room and had a faulty remote. Surprised and disappointed that no towels were provided.

"This holiday experience was very good."
Accommodation very good. Location excellent. Cafe extremely good. Will be returning later in year.

"For the second time, we had a delightful stay at Starboard."
It has everything we need for a relaxing holiday - including a wonderful sea view right outside the door
-
"Fantastic place."
I loved every minute of it.wakeing up on to a sea front view.from the patio doors, eating breakfast on the sea front,it's not something that you get everyday, and it's so peaceful, and the next villeage.only a15 minete walk along the sea front.

"5th time here, love it."
Back next year
-
"Excellent location on the beach with ever-changing sea views across the Solent towards Lymington."
It is only a short walk to Yarmouth, with its cafes, pubs, and shops, and is on the Coastal Path with easy access to other pleasant inland walks. Very quiet at night - after the removal of the battery from the wall clock - with the restful sound of the waves and the irregular chiming of Sconce Point buoy bell just about audible through the double glazing. Would happily return.

"Great location."
I was on my own but if there had been 2 people there wouldn't have been enough cutlery. TV could do with being a bit bigger and the remote didn't work very well either. Only small things but the location would make me book this property again without hesitation.

"Great little apartment."
We have used it many times in the past and always look forward to returning.

"Sad circumstances this visit, after 2 years away!"
But Starboard rekindled Happy memories with my late wife ,and such a perfect Studio on the beach,to Cook and Chill and Walk with my Woolfie for 2 weeks! Top Man John the Owner, see you next year or maybee sooner

"Well appointed apartment very close to the sea so a wonderful view out."
The little area with a cafe has great potential but an atmosphere of incomplete restoration. The front terrace could be made more private with little expense and that would make the use of the front area more enjoyable.

"We have stayed in this property several times."
Nice peaceful seafront location with a cafe next door
-
"The location is wonderful, perhaps the absence of some amenities might be ignored."
The TV is too small for normal viewing and such things as a DVD player, board games, CD player and patio chairs are usually available in most lettings. It is still a great place to stay!
-
"Very good property, we had holidays here before so knew what to expect."
Location is perfect for fishing and general relaxing. Good area to explore and Yarmouth seems to have most of what is needed. Will be better when fully open, a lot of business's hadn't opened because of Covid, which meant The Bugle pub and restaurant was very busy, Wednesday night at 8pm as I was leaving new diners were being quoted 90 minutes wait time. The island in general seems slow to reopen for business.

"A great place my dogs first time an she had a great time 1st time to the island ..."
A great place my dogs first time an she had a great time 1st time to the island at christmas an i wont be the last John was great

"As this was a winter let we were surprised that the accommodation was cold on our arrival."
However, an additional heater was quickly found. The bathroom was unheated, and we suggest that a heated towel rail would have made all the difference. The mattress was very uncomfortable, that and the pillows need replacing. The accommodation looked very tired, two light fittings not working, and cobwebs on light fittings The television was too small for the room, difficult to read text and not enough volume.. On the positive side there was plenty of hot water.

"The apartment was perfect - looking out over the beach and the sea"
-
"The Cafe next door is only open in the summer (from Easter) as are most of the experiences at Fort Victoria."
-
"Wonderful location right on the beach."
We loved waking up to the sound and sight of the sea. The studio is clean, light, airy and very cosy. A few minor niggles: there is no heat in the bathroom so you need to leave the living room door open to warm it up. There are no cooking spatulas and the shower is very weak.

About the location
YARMOUTH
Newport 12 miles; Ryde 18 miles.
The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouth’s narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII’s castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path. Why not take an energetic stroll at the nearby Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, with Colwell Bay with its sandy beach and amenities for the family 7 minutes away by car. Yarmouth's pier and sailing club jetty is another good spot for crabbing. Four miles away is Compton Bay, famous for dinosaur remains; head there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet. West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Yarmouth is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful island.
