  • "Would have liked some comfortable chairs at the end of the day."

There was only a 2 seat sofa, there was 3 of us ,so we took turns to sit on it. Other than that it was fine.

  • "We had a lovely stay again and have already booked for next year."

We were a little disappointed with the cleanliness as there were dog hairs and a half eaten dog chew in centre of the settee. We also feel the need for a freezer compartment in the fridge as have to keep getting ice from other people or the cafe. We have mentioned this before. Other than these points we enjoyed our stay.

  • "John was very helpful and supplied a hairdryer, ironing board and deck chairs when requested."

Great location for dog owners. Lovely walks on the beach and in the country park on your doorstep. Quiet and relaxing with the cafe nearby. Also walking distance to Yarmouth with many lovely places to see and eat such as King Henry's castle and Salties. Minor detail - Could have done without cover on sofa as it kept coming off. A great place to relax and explore.

  • "Fabulous location, Great apartments, Stone throws to Beach which is great."

. Dog loved it there , we loved it there.. Owner more than helpful and friendly.. Cleaning ladies really nice too. Cafe next door and staff fab.. Would highly recommend,. Personally would prefer a sofa which i am able to lie down on to rest. So for me the only downfall was uncomfortable sofa. Decking was great to sit out on and watch the sea, we actually saw a seal swim by! adding to the delight of our stay. Was pleasantly surprised could not hear others through walls. Would definitely stay there again for the peace and tranquility.

The picture shown when booking insulated the accommodation faced the sea -this was not the case -which was disappointing. Also at no point in the literature did it state you couldn’t swim in this area. The kitchen facilities were very basic -to the point that we are were unable to cook means . Parking was not allocated -needs to be allocated per rental . Bed mattresses was cheap and uncomfortable . Overall the accommodation has been converted with minimum thought given to those who are staying -such a shame .

It was clean and comfortable. The big plus was how close it was to the sea. Hoping to go again in the future. However I would probably stay at number 1 or 3.

4 It's such a great location, near to Yarmouth and all our other favourite places. The only downside was we all got quite badly bitten by mosquitos so something to remedy this would be good - otherwise, next time we will bring our own mosquito nets. See you soon!

Convient for all local amminities. Clean, basic and reasonably comfortable. The pictures of the property exterior did not reflect which unit we were getting and caused confusion on arrival. I would suggest that you should amend this.

  • "This charming little converted boathouse proved to be perfect for me and my Labrador, who swam enthusiastically in the sea literally metres from the cottage."

It is beautifully decorated and equipped and the bathroom in particular is better and more convenient than many in much larger self-catering places where I have stayed. Although the mezzanine bedroom sleeps three, the cottage would be a bit of a squeeze for more than a couple. The only disappointment was that the adjacent café wasn’t open during my stay.

Bad news ? Well Yes. BUT We sent an late evening message To the property owner, who phoned us the following morning and by lunchtime the following day he had purchased and installed a new cooker. Excellent customer service. Just one biggish jiggle. The fridge has no freezer section. 2 very minor niggles. No corkscrew or cheese grater. Good holiday, good cottage and good weather. Thank you

The accommodation could do with just a few updates Really needs a fridge freezer so many guest have request this in the visitors book and a better shower and the best thing would be provide a patio table and chairs to sit on as nothing there. I went and brought a chair which was no hardship but for the price I paid for the holiday I feel it should be provided. I would go again as it’s a beautiful location but it would be stunning if the update where addressed.

This is not what we signed up to on the website. We picked up on this reading reviews of disappointment from others who raised this issue and a poor fridge with no ice box or salad box. We tried to resolve this issue and told Sykes several times that the photo and reference to the comfortable sofa were misleading. The sofa is still on the website we recommend readers of this review book an alternative apartment as the location is excellent. The owner is a very nice person as well.

The only complaint was on are previous visit and the photos in the current brochures show a soffa in the lounge area, but has now been replaced with two upright hard arm chairs, imposible to relaxe in the evening whilst watching tv, disapointing as the other appartments had confortable soffa's. otherwise an exalent self cattering appartment, set in an ideal beach side position with good parking space.

The accommodation was perfectly adequate, comfortable, clean and tidy, in fact the apartment was well insulated inspite of the inclement weather so we didn't need the heating on for much of the time at all. We will definitely book a Sykes holiday again.

  • "The arrangements were organised very well and we met Mr Brady at the allotted time."

The cottage was comfortable for the two of us, it would have suited a couple and a child, but I think four people would have struggled. We did not cook during our stay, but the kitchen equipment seemed to be satisfactory, although it would be very useful to have a small freezer, even just for making ice within the fridge. A bit more shelving space in the bathroom and a larger shower head would also be useful. But the very hot water was ideal. We used the cafe next door for coffee/tea/Sunday lunch - a roast carvery and for a breakfast. All very good. The walk into Yarmouth is not far, which again is a bonus. There is a small stretch of beach that is slightly difficult to walk on due to the stones and if walking at night, you do need a torch. All in all we had a very enjoyable week and this was an ideal quiet base to get out and about to see the Island.

We wanted a quiet place to recharge our batteries after three years of stress. It was a comfortable base and the sound of the sea on the beach at night and when we woke up made it a tranquil and peaceful place to stay. We had everything we needed and when we did have a problem the owner dealt with it immediately and was very understanding and friendly. Although we didn't bring dogs with us we loved the fact that dogs were made so welcome across the Island and in the Boathouse apartments. For a small island there is so much to see and do. This is our fourth stay on the island but the first time without our children, what a revelation there is so much for grown ups too! We will be coming back soon.

The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouth’s narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII’s castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path. Why not take an energetic stroll at the nearby Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, with Colwell Bay with its sandy beach and amenities for the family 7 minutes away by car. Yarmouth's pier and sailing club jetty is another good spot for crabbing. Four miles away is Compton Bay, famous for dinosaur remains; head there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet.
