• "P5 Whitfield itself was easy to find and there was good communication from the owners in regard to arrival."

  The house was warm when we checked in which was very welcome. The kitchen was well equipped for basic cooking, although a number of pieces of crockery felt sticky and maybe weren’t completely clean. The accommodation was comfortable enough but did feel a little tired in places - frayed carpets, bed frames coming undone, and the mattresses felt as though they could do with an upgrade. The en-suite shower room was unusable for the first day or so as it was smelling rather unpleasant! The door had to kept closed to prevent the smell from impacting the bedroom too much. I alerted maintenance and they came in to the property on the second day and the smell did improve for a couple of days, but by the final evening it had reverted to being rather pungent again. The kitchen sink was also very slow to drain as the week went on and also began to smell a little, so potentially there is a bigger drains issue going on. All in all though this was a convenient place to stay for exploring the island and especially easy to walk into Yarmouth. The Needles are close by, as are lovely walks and views around the south of the island. We also hired bikes and enjoyed a gentle cycle with lots of wildlife spots, including birds of prey. An enjoyable week overall and I would stay again.

  We were very sorry to hear that Sykes cancelled your previous holiday plans and then were impossible to contact. We realise that you were understandably annoyed and upset with Sykes, which has contributed to a poor review (they have, however, removed all of your critical comments about themselves from this review!). We are also equally upset with them due to their complete lack of communication, making it much harder for us to resolve any issues that you had onsite. They have, however, promised to improve their communication in future. We have asked them in the past, and continue to ask them, to keep us fully informed at all times, so we can quickly respond if any issues arise. This is why we also provide our own, as well as our housekeepers contact details, so that we can quickly help if there are any queries. As soon as we heard about a possible problem with the drains on-site, we arranged for them to be rodded, there have been no issues since. The beds have been fully inspected and no faults found. The small area of carpet outside the main bathroom has been fixed. We are glad that the pre-arrival email that we sent you was useful. We were also glad to hear that “you had an enjoyable week overall and would stay again”. Property Owner

• "We enjoyed our stay - the house was clean, comfortable and everything we needed was there."

  It was rather disconcerting when we arrived as we had the address but no directions as to how to find our house amongst the many on site. We could have done with a map prior to arrival. There were no signs around the complex to point us in the right direction. Fortunately another resident was able to direct us to a building where there was a map. As there was no washing machine it would have been useful to have known that there is a launderette on site.

  Many thanks for your feedback. We have only been using Sykes, as our letting agent, for a short time. They have told us that they send each guest the key code, WiFi code and directions (using what3words which gets you directly to the front door). I have reiterated to them that this MUST be done, and they have confirmed that it is, as we are aware that the site layout can be confusing. The landlord of the site has also agreed to maps and directions onsite, which have just gone out to tender. Hopefully this will be completed early in 2025. Sykes should also have told you that there is a laundrette close by. I have also chased them on this. I hope that this didn’t impact too much on your visit. Kind regards. • "We had a few issues on arrival but they were sorted out really quickly -it is a lovely place with everything that we needed."
