  • "We thoroughly enjoyyed our week in The Ox House, a warm comfortable and cosy cottage set in beautiful countryside."

Totally quiet except for the bleating of the lambs and various birdsongs, if you want a peaceful, restful holiday the Ox House will be hard to beat. Tracy and John are wonderful hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble.

  • "The Ox house is a superb holiday destination."

The house offers ideal accommodation for a group of 6. The lovely private walled garden is an extra bonus. We were blessed with good weather which showed off the amazing views and countryside to its best. We would definitely return. Happy for the above to be published. Additional suggestions for owners: Despite everyone’s best efforts finding the property on initial arrival is challenging. Some tasteful signage would be sensible; a name plate for dairy/parlour; a signpost ‘to farmhouse’ and name plates for Ox House, Farmhouse and Cottage would be great touches. In the Ox House a clothes hanging rail and some hangers would be nice in one or more bedrooms. The kitchen needs a bread knife and some proper mugs. It would be nice if the garden furniture had some cushions and even a couple of sun loungers. Thanks again for a great week.

  • "Very pleased with the property, we had the log fire going as a pleasant extra."

Very clean and well equipped. Had fun finding it though, could do with some maps and a sign would be the only suggestion to improve things. Good location and would be more than happy to visit again.

  • "Beautiful cottage,very clean."

Our only downside was in the description of the cottage stating that there was a ground floor bedroom and bathroom which is one of the main reasons we booked the cottage as my husband has had a big operation on his pelvis and is unable to access stairs and as there are actually four steps up to the bathroom we had great difficulty getting him up them. We still managed to have a wonderful time though.

  • "A lovely cottage with no negative points apart from the access road is full of pot holes so don't drive in a low hung sports car!"

A couple of minus points: 1. Lack of toilet rolls. When we arrived late afternoon there was only half a wc roll in the downstairs shower room. None elsewhere in the house, not ideal when arriving with an upset stomach. 2. There were no instructions for the oven and the seal on the inside oven door fell off on initial opening. The oven didn't have accurate temp control, perhaps due to the issue with the door seal. Generally a lovely stay but the 5 star potential let down by the above, especially toilet roll or lack of.

  • "The Ox House is a wonderful holiday property that has everything you need for your stay."

The beds are comfortable and it’s in a peaceful setting with lots of walks from the door. The enclosed wall garden is so beautiful, it would be lovely sitting out there in the warmer months. I felt that the dog was safe in the garden as not all gardens are enclosed but this is. We saw red squirrels, birds of prey, rabbits and a badger on the large surrounding grounds. We had to cut our holiday short as a family member that wasn’t on the holiday became ill so had to go back to the mainland. I will definitely return, and explore the isle further in the future.
