"Lovely place to stay fabulous views nice and quiet"

"We enjoyed our stay as the property has good outside space, we read about the lower ceiling but the door to the bathroom meant ducking down every time."
we were not intending to do much cooking but it would have been difficult to do so. There was only 2 mugs supplied. No dishwasher or washing machine. The bath was very awkward to access which you had to do to take a shower..The property is not near any basic food shops only a fish shop at the top of the road. We were aware there were steps but not so many. Parking was quite difficult for me as on a slope. I felt it was quite expensive for what it was and having to strip your bed etc.
I am sorry if this guest was disappointed with The Deck Studio. Everything that is included with the compact two guest property is listed in the details. The extensive photos clearly show all that this accommodation has to offer. There is a Central shop approximately 100 meters up the Newport Rd. All guests are encouraged to ask or text the owner with any enquiries they may have. Ventnor is a very hilly environment which includes many steps. This can add to the picturesque beauty but unfortunately can on occasion be inconvenient. Property Owner

"The property was as described, it was very comfortable, clean and well equipped."
A warm welcome from the owners was appreciated as was the small touch of a vase of fresh roses in the kitchen, the terrace was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view as well . Overall a perfect base to explore the Isle of Wight.

"The Deck Studio is splendid and we had a really enjoyable holiday."
Every facility one could want and the owners were really friendly and helpful. The view over the Channel was great and just sitting out on deck in the evening sunshine with a drink, to watch the ships go by, was a pleasure in itself. One or two comments: Not suitable for wheelchair users as there are a lot of steps. The parking area is tight and turning out onto the road needs special care. The TV controls were quite complicated ! Otherwise everything great ! Thank you for wonderful holiday.

"Lovely welcome and introduction to the property - comfy chairs prepared on the deck and a few essentials eg tea coffee milk plus nice touch of chocolates and port and some ice ready for a chilling G&T."
Everything very clean and comfortable. Very well prepared information pack which took care of everything in the studio and the wider island for visits and eating out.

"Simply can't find anything negative to say."
Property was spotless. Owners got the balance right of respecting our privacy and ensuring we had everything we required. Probably my favourite holiday property.

"Marilyn and John were friendly and welcoming hosts."
The property was clean and comfortable and had most of the facilities one would expect including a good supply of hot water. It would have been nice if a cooker/grill was available instead of the complicated microwave which is not a substitute. Thought has to be given by the hosts as to the door height leading to the bath as it's not high enough and you have to be mindful of this every time you enter and get out. This is an inconvenience and could result in a serious injury to one's head !

"We enjoyed our week at the Deck Studio."
Our host and hostess were keen for us to feel at home and we were thankful for the welcoming items that they included for us. We appreciated them providing a new cafetiere straight away when we mentioned the old one was missing. There was plenty of hot water for our needs and the portable electric heater did a good job when the temperature dipped. The accommodation was spacious considering it was a studio flat and we liked the privacy, bearing in mind the owners lived above us. We liked the airy feel of the flat and it afforded a splendid view of the English Channel. With the vagaries of the English weather, we were grateful for the wide screen TV and the DVD player. We would have liked a little more crockery and glass tumblers would have been a welcome addition. There was no oven which limited what we were able to cook. We would not recommend this property to anyone who has mobility issues, but for us it was a decent base for a happy week in Ventnor.

"Well equipped appartment, Very comfortable, nice view over the bay."
Many steps down into Ventnor however there is a very convenient half hourly bus service that will take you down and onto Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde if you prefer. Minor detail the roof is a little low in the bathroom which makes the shower over the bath difficult in a standing position. Owners very friendly and gave a great welcome on arrival.

"Fabulous stay Marilyn & John as perfect hosts Clean comfy everything we needed ..."
Fabulous stay Marilyn & John as perfect hosts Clean comfy everything we needed So relaxing amazing view Great location Ventnor charming place but very hilly (good bus service and cheap taxis if don’t want to drive) Good selection of bars and restaurants near by

"Our stay was good but noise from the floor above each evening."

"We had a lovely time at The Deck Studio."
It was just as stated on the details, with amazing views from the decking area where we were lucky as the weather so good , to eat our breakfast out every morning. We really liked the little extras that were provided and the friendly welcome from the owners. It is about a 20 minute walk to the sea front and bars and restaurants great walking down , but not so good walking back up the hill although you can catch the Number 3 bus which runs frequently so it wasn’t a problem for us. All in all a fab holiday . Thank you Marilyn and John Sue and Tom
Thank you Sue & John for your wonderful feedback. We are so happy that you enjoyed yourselves. That’s what we hope for all our guests. Marilyn & John Property Owner

"The property was lovely with very nice decor and furnishings."
We very much enjoyed the deck with excellent views of the sea. The pictures and information were extremely accurate. Owners very helpful and friendly. Nearby bus stops were a great bonus as we used our bus passes to get around some days.
-
"A lovely space with a great view."
John and Marilyn were great hosts there if needed but otherwise not intrusive. Good to have safe off road parking with easy access to great walks and the town.
-
"A hidden little gem in Ventnor with fantastic views ."
A peaceful and relaxing environment . The accommodation met all our needs .
-
"The property is poorly equiped, it is not up to modern standards."
It is not possible to have a comfortable shower, no shower curtain is present which means you u have to squat in the bath and use the hand held shower to rinse yourself down. On small dim light over the sink for the bathroom. We had to leave it on 10mins to warm up before you could see anything. No curtains in the dressing area or the glass kitchen door which leads to the bedroom meaning bedroom too light to sleep well. Bed uncomfortable. No storage for food in the kitchen and cooking facilities poor. We stayed two nights and then left. Possibly an error on our part not reading the listing properly but definitely not worth the money we paid and not up to modern stds or expectations for 2022. Very disappointing
Thank you for your honest feedback. I have taken note of your concerns and will seek to implement possible improvements. Anyone who books the Deck Studio can clearly see from the website photos and summary all that this property has to offer. All guests are able to contact the owner or Sykes Cottages if they have any requests or concerns. Unfortunately the lighting in the bathroom was caused by a faulty bulb which was replaced the day before. This was an oversight which could have been quickly rectified had I been informed prior to the guests departure. Property Owner

"We were extremely happy with the accommodation Although our holiday was a little out of season the Deck Studio was very warm and comfortable Views were wonderful."
Our hosts were very welcoming and helped us sort out various restaurants which were of good quality Thoroughly enjoyed the stay
-
"The hosts were great, very helpful and accommodating to ask any questions."
Apartment was very clean and would highly recommend.
-
"The accommodating was as described."
Fantastic place to stay absolutely spotless and a very warm welcome from the owners. I would highly recommend the Deck Studio as it is peaceful and in an ideal position to explore the island with local transport within walking distance. Although forms part of the owners house you have your own private areas to sit outside with a lovely view of the sea I would certainly return a sometime

"This is a beautiful setting."
Small but quirky and extremely clean. There were lovely little touches by the Owner which we loved and an excellent position to walk into town or the beach. Nice good local restaurants and Pubs to visit.
-
"Really enjoyed stay at the Deck Studio."
Beautiful views from decking. Great base for exploring island. Owners left lots of extras for us to start our holiday. We had a friendly welcome and then again when leaving. Would recommend stay as a lovely bolt away for couples.
-
"Had a great week which was made even better by staying at the deck studio."
... It has great views, great hosts and everything we needed for a relaxing holiday exploring the Isle of Wight.... Very spacious accommodation and huge terrace which might not come across in the pics! Would definitely recommend and we hope to return one day.... thanks so much....
-
"Great hosts and the place was bigger than the pictures showed."
It was a perfect getaway.
-
"Deck studio is a gorgeous little holiday retreat,it has the most amazing views over Ventnor, which you can not appreciate from the brochure ,we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The Isle of Wight was a pleasure to visit,we will definitely go back.
-
"The owners Marilyn and John gave us a very warm welcome ."
The studio was very comfortable and cosy and we enjoyed our beautiful view of the sea . All in all a lovely holiday in a beautiful situation. We would warn people that it has very steep roads but there are buses every half an hour up and down! Good walks along the coastal paths with beautiful views .
-
"The accommodation provided here is a lot more spacious than the impression given by the listing information."
This studio flat is very comfortable and generally well-equipped, though the lack of a conventional oven and hob is slightly tricky. Beautiful terrace and sea view. Potential visitors should be prepared for some challenging parking at times, and of course steps. It is a lovely, cosy base both for relaxing and for exploring the area, with welcoming and helpful hosts.
-
"It is slightly longer walking to the beach and Ventnor shops than 10 minutes and the walk is very steep."
However it’s worth the cost alone for the view and the deck! The hospitality of John and Marilyn and the quality of the overall let was fantastic.
-
"A fantastic location overlooking the sea."
Great decking area with three options of seating, plus a BBQ. The inside has everything you need for two and is clean and cosy. Little extras such as blankets and chocolates. Ventnor is a 10-15 minute walk down the hill (and back up again!), but easily accessible by car and the property has parking. Sykes Cottages also great to deal with.

Sheltered by St. Boniface Down, one of the island's highest points and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this charming town has a uniquely mild micro climate enabling tropical and exotic plants to grow throughout the area.
