  • "Willow cottage is as stated but a bit functional feeling - not cosy."

Noise from anti damp fan in the kitchen on 24/7 hence rather annoying. Poor lighting for reading in the lounge.Bathroom ,bedrooms decor good. Kitchen well equipped but needs a new frying so that the base is flat on the hob to cook properly. Garden sitting area good with plenty of seating. Property felt cold and damp when we arrived ,no subsidiary heating onlybthe central heating. Great base for exploring Isle of Wight and lots of info leaflets .

  • "We loved staying in Willow Cottage."

We stayed, as a family for three nights, but wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage soon felt like a home, rather than just a base. It was very comfortable to live in and attention to detail was well thought through by the owners. It was really clean and well maintained. This was clearly monitored regularly. Communication with the owners was spot on. The garden is also nice and plants are well looked after. The beach is a 10 min walk away and on the beach is a nice pub with good food, recommended by the vendor in the informative welcome pack. There is also a nice beachside restaurant which is popular. Lots of attractions and places to visit are near by. I have already recommended Willow cottage to friends and will return if we return to the Isle of Wight.

We are so pleased you had a great time and enjoyed the cottage and the island. Thanks for the lovely feedback, we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future Kind regards Greg Property Owner

  • "Willow Cottage makes for wonderful holiday accommodation, and is perfectly situated for all attractions on the South of the Isle."

Ventnor is a lovely town, and the cottage is no more than 10 minutes walk to the sea front. The garden area is perfect for a morning coffee and the cleanliness of the cottage was spot on. It has charm and a homely atmosphere. We felt very welcome. Highly recommended.

Thanks so much for the feedback, we are so pleased that you had a lovely time. Thanks Greg Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Willow Cottage."

Exceptionally clean, soft bedding and fluffy towels. My 13 year old son commented that, 'It felt like home.' (high praise indeed!). We visited the Isle of Wight without a car, and found Willow Cottage to be the perfect location for exploration and bus links.

We are so pleased you had a lovely time at Willow Cottage and that your son felt at so at home, that’s really important. You’re right; the bus service around the island is excellent, even late into the evening. Many thanks, Greg Property Owner

  • "Had a few issues with the property, broken toilet seat (which to be an ongoing issue from previous holiday makers), non-working cooker, leaking coffee machine, hard bed, non-working tv controller and a angry neighbour annoyed he received letters for the cottage (no letter box)."

Reported to Skye cottage company and ignored by owner (according to email sent from Skye cottages). However, it was a well presented and clean cottage, but we won’t be visiting again or the Skye cottage website.

Thanks for your email and your feedback, it’s incredibly useful. We did reply to Sykes but it was delayed as we had a child poorly with Covid so were behind on our emails. I’m glad the cottage was nice for you. Sorry to hear you had a few issues. We do have a property management company through Sykes who come out the same day to fix things or help out with other issues. We have had no feedback from any other guests or from our property management team who test the properties facilities at changeover. The maintenance book in the welcome pack is for our maintenance team and will include historic items. The issue stated in your email about the toilet seat relates to a previous toilet seat which was broken by a tenant. As you can appreciate during holiday lets things from time to time will be broken or wear out. We noticed that one of the toilet seat fixings is loose, causing some instability. This has now been replaced again. We have been to look at the TV remote but were unable to replicate the fault, however, we will keep an eye on it. We have also checked the coffee machine and cannot replicate this fault either. It is important to ensure that the water housing container is put on properly, we will ensure the instructions are updated to include this. With regards to the mattresses, these were all brand new about 10 months ago. We specifically chose them as mid firmness in terms of hard to soft to cover different tastes and durability. In general, we have had good feedback on the comfort of the property but I’m sorry this aspect wasn’t to your taste. Sorry you were approached by a neighbour in the property. As you can appreciate we are not in control of where the postman delivers the post, the property is clearly signposted and there is a letterbox in the front door. All relevant post is forwarded to our home address so anything coming through the door is unsolicited post and is out of our control. We hope to welcome you back at some point in the future. If you are able to come again, we will be certain to arrange a nice welcome pack as thanks and to make up for the above issues. We are always upgrading and improving the property, in fact the property will shortly be closed for the season for some renovations and redecoration ready for next season. Property Owner

  • "Extreme musty smell within property, especially in the kitchen cupboards."

Large damp patches on living room walls . Feeling of overall dampness within the lower floor of building. A significant health hazard. There were attempts made to mask smells by owners using air fresheners. Property not a cottage. In fact an annex to the rear of larger building with lower floor below ground level with no outlook at all. Disappointing location within a run down area of Ventnor. Kitchen crockery mismatched. Bedding of poor quality and poor fitting. Property description - misleading.

Thank you for staying in our much loved family home. We hope you enjoyed your stay. I would like to address the points in the review which we would have preferred to have discussed with you at the time to reassure you about your concerns rather than leaving an inaccurate review. Willow cottage is situated in a quiet side street conveniently located within minutes of shops, our wonderful high street & of course the beautiful Ventnor sea front. Willow cottage is a purely a house name given to the property & is not a description of the type of property, which is clearly shown in the 32 pictures on the website, as is the glorious backdrop of Ventnor Downs to the property. The musty smell you refer to in the kitchen was due to a small leak under the kitchen sink which of course has since been rectified & please be assured the air fresheners are not an attempt to cover any smells just to create a welcoming entrance to the property which can of course be left empty for a time between visits. The bedding in our home was purchased recently & is quality 100% cotton which is hypoallergenic, hygienic, breathable, natural & comfortable of which there are numerous sets in rotation. Your statement of damp is incorrect & is actually condensation due to the humidity caused by the beautiful island of which it situated, compounded by the solid stone walls of its 150 year old Victorian construction with modern double glazing. This is confirmed by a full survey which had already been completed on the property. Therefore there is absolutely no hazard to health whatsoever. We had already scheduled in some building work after the completion of current bookings to resolve the condensation so not to hinder any guests. Property Owner

VENTNOR

Newport 10 miles; Cowes 15 miles.

The quaint Victorian seaside resort of Ventnor is located at the southern end of the island and accessed via an array of steep winding roads set amidst beautiful scenery. Sheltered by St. Boniface Down, one of the island's highest points and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this charming town has a uniquely mild micro climate enabling tropical and exotic plants to grow throughout the area. The gently sloping sandy and fine shingle beaches and coves provide excellent facilities for watersports and offer a range of stunning coastal paths to explore, while the harbour sells a broad range of fresh fish and locally-caught seafood. Ventnor is one of the Isle of Wight’s most prestigious food destinations with a good variety of high-quality restaurants,
Bistros, pubs and shops along the esplanade and close to the town centre. The Botanical Gardens are within easy reach and well worth a visit, whilst around the island there are great walking and cycling opportunities, medieval castles, historic houses and a variety of gardens and waterfalls, as well as the unspoilt fishing bay.
