"The view from the house, and being able to walk in the grounds after the house is shut to visitors, made this house magical and unique for us."
House well equipped. Lovely weather meant we were much in the garden. This transformed our experience as there is only one small reception room for sitting in and eating. Difficult for our 6 adults and 4 young children. Weir House walks through the garden for access. Climbing the top floor steep twisting staircase to the best bedroom is VERY difficult. Agility is essential. Ground floor double bedroom is very small. On first floor double beds in 2 of the 3 bedrooms meant 2 children in the same bed making for difficult nights. These facts need to be in the description of the house. For us these drawbacks were not nearly as important as the uniqueness of the situation and walking the grounds out of visitor hours.

"Absolutely stunning."
The house and the setting were both glorious. Everything was picturesque and so comfortable. So well equipped we didn’t need to bring anything. Might be worth saying how well stocked the kitchen is etc in the listing and includes tea, coffee, milk; thank you. We loved accessing Leeds Castle with our gold VIP wristbands. Would definitely stay again.

"Keeper's House (KH) is lovely, perfect for a visit to Leeds Castle (LC), with all its superb attractions - we were very pleased with the accommodation/how it was appointed/cleanliness/facilities; we had a few minor issues which we reported to Housekeeping, they couldn't have responded quicker, been more helpful or accommodating."
The information relating to finding the property/checking-in/how to leave the property/what to do with the keys at the end of your stay differs between that provided by Sykes and LC - a minor issue, but if it were streamlined, it could only enhance the stay for future guests. I knew from researching KH, that access to Weir Cottage is via the path in front of KH - this was not an issue for us, but is something that I feel should be advised to future guests (I did a second take when a chap walked past the front of KH in his dressing gown to take his recycling to the bins!). The stairs to the top floor are quite steep, and the tread layout changes direction, so you need to be mindful of this, particularly when coming down the stairs. Whilst the thigh/calf muscle work out I got over the weekend, may pay dividends ...?, it might be helpful to future guests to be made aware of the access/steepness of the stairs. The toiletries provided were amazing - if I had known how good and plentiful ('complimentary toiletries' brought to mind a few tiny bottles that wouldn't last), I would not have bothered taking my own: generous bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash/body lotion/hand wash/handcream - truly impressed with the 'complimentary toiletries'. I took: washing up liqiuid, J-Cloths, yellow sponge, pan cleaning brush, dishwasher tabs, tea towels, oven gloves - all these items were already at the property. There was a tray of ice in the freezer (appreciated this on our first evening!), large fridge and a smaller fridge/freezer - perfect for our needs. Our compliments to the reception, housekeeping and maintenance staff - everyone we interacted with were polite, considerate and very helpful.

"The property was lovely and the surroundings were beautiful."
There was everything you needed in the cottage. We had a lovely stay

"A lovely house and an absolute joy to stay in."
It was great watching kingfisher flying over the river and so good to be able to use the pool at the hotel. The castle was a great hit with our grandchildren and the maze was the best ever! Hopefully we will return.

"The cottage was extremely well equipped and was very clean."
The setting was peaceful with the weir in front of the property. There was a problem with one of the beds which was broken. Someone came out almost immediately to look at it and stated it needed to be replaced. This didn't happen during our stay (which is understandable) although it would have been good if whoever broke it had reported it previously. The bed was obviously uncomfortable for my daughter and her husband but they managed. I don't blame Leeds Castle for this as they responded to our call efficiently. We would have liked more information about where to put recycling as there were two bins and neither were marked with regard to content. We all had a wonderful time and would definitely go again.

"On a planned 10 day family trip home for Christmas, the UK was put on the red list of my country of residence at the last minute and we were unable to travel."
Of the several hotels, airlines and car rental companies we used, Sykes Cottages/Leeds Castle properties were the only ones not to offer a refund. If traveling from overseas, I would recommend booking elsewhere.
Dear Denis, We were greatly looking forward to welcoming you to Leeds Castle on Christmas Eve and had fully prepared Keeper's Cottage for you with Christmas Tree, decorations and welcome bag. When we called you on the 23rd to discuss arrival details you advised us that you would not be coming due to travel restrictions in your country of residence. At this late stage it was too late to re-let the cottage to another family so sadly the cottage had to be empty for the Christmas week, therefore we had to adhere to the cancellation policy.
