  • "The property is set away from traffic, quiet and very convenient to Rye and Tenterdon."

We enjoyed many nice walks in the surrounding countryside.

  • "The cottage was lovely and in a peaceful location."

We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend it. There are only a couple of things that could give this cottage a 10 out of 10 and these could be easily be rectified. Remove dust and cobwebs. No shower in down stairs bathroom. Not everyone can climb the stairs to the shower upstairs. The bathrooms were lovely and warm and the upstairs shower was fab. We would stay there again. Thank you

  • "Generally well appointed."

Bedrooms and bathroom facilities very good & clean. Main room very dark [dark ceiling & walls] and some light bulbs not working. Although rest of cottage clean, ceiling festooned with cobwebs & also on stairs. There were also some "niggling" aspects that would be simple to resolve i.e. Ironing board cover very flimsy with broken strings; oven instructions not very clear [changing temperature]. No instructions re rubbish recycling/collection day or what to do with dirty laundry. No kitchen scissors; chopping boards [other than wooden board]; draining rack for washing up; small side tables to place drinks. Blind on front door missing. Could do with more storage space & some shelves too high for shorter people. We enjoyed our stay and visiting the surrounding area but the above relatively minor issues did take a little of the shine off our stay..

  • "Too many cobwebs and spiders for my comfort."

Squashed some in the bathroom every day plus one on my bed when I arrived. I know it is the time of year for spiders, but the cobwebs festooning the upper window in the lounge had obviously been there for some time, plus some hanging around the top of the fourposter. Just a bit more care with the cleaning and this would have been perfect.

The decor is very striking but the dark colour on all the walls is not an attractive feature. On the whole we really enjoyed our stay at Honeysuckle. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean and ensuites great. I did struggle in the kitchen area reaching things as I'm only 5ft tall, luckily my partner's 6ft

  • "Fabulous location, The cottage is ideally located for exploring the local countryside and beaches."

The garden was not secure for dogs as they can get out and there is a private lane next to the property but if you have a dog that doesn't wander far and has good recall it's fine and they will enjoy the meadow and woods that are part of the land and lovely to explore.

  • "The house is in a prefect location, it is close to Rye and Tenterden."

The house is situated on a lovely country estate, with access to wood and vinyard walks. It is a wonderful location for a country and beach holiday. Unfortunately, there are problems that could easely corrected. 1 cleanliness, old cobwebs at high level, must be at least two years old. Crisps found between sofa cushions. Not ours as we dont esat crisps! 2 The vacuum is not up to standard, many long dog hairs in the carpet. 3 Cooking pans old and worn 4 Glasses, no matching glasses. There are not four matching glasses. Including wine, champagne, beer, or water. 5 Outdoor furniture, We noted this on last years revews the outdoor furniture is worn, rotting and dangerous. If you use the deck in the garden, you take your life in your hands. 6 Lack of occasional tables, the furniture placed like a coffee table is style over funtion, just leather foot stools. No way of placing cups on them. 7. No shower in the downstairs bathroom. 8. There were many lamps not working in light fittings especially in the kitchenette area making it difficult to work in, especially for the visually impaired. On the plus side the the beds were extremely comfortable with good quality bedding. To sum up it could be magnificent with a bit more care and attention to detail.

  • "This property was very comfortable and in a beautiful quiet location."

We also rented the property next door for a family weekend away. The living area could've been a bit more spacious if it had only one rather than 2 large coffee tables. it made the area quite cramped with 2 small children. The cottage is dog friendly but the outdoor area is not secure. We hope to return for another family weekend away.

  • "Lovely little cottage and very well positioned for Rye and Tenterden."

Enjoyed our stay with our daughters and dogs. The cottage is in need of a spruce up - paper coming down in the bathroom. Kitchen is well equipped but quite dark and could do with better lighting. The strip light under the top unit didn’t work. Really liked our stay, it was very peaceful and enjoyed the tennis courts.

It was the time that I had to clean directly after arrival. Sanitary facilities and kitchen were clean, other parts not. The outside table and chairs are in a poor state and we didn’t like to use them.

Particularly liked: paved entry path with ramp to front door, extra wide front door, comfortable beds and bedding, luxurious towels, large shower and plenty of hot water, well equipped kitchen, good WiFi, interesting art decor. Greatest inconvenience was steep stairs with no bannister rail, making shower access difficult for the infirmed. Minor inconveniences were: heavy kettle with loose handle, basic seating cushions, basic terrestrial TV channels, couldn't find any guidance on rubbish disposal.

  • "This property is set in beautiful immediate surroundings near to great towns in both Kent and Sussex."

Inside, the house was one of the most well equipped we have stayed in and was very clean and comfortable. The outside area was fabulous with a mix a mown lawn, wild areas, vines (of course) and plenty of sun and shade. The garden is not secure if your dog wanders but there are plenty of posts and trees to attach long cables to. I would definitely recommend this property.

  • "Great rural location."

Well placed to explore the local area, and it was good to have the use of a local map, and nice to enjoy a game of tennis. However, we found the creaky floors intolerable and would not return because of this. The wooden flooring in the ground floor ensuite bathroom was swollen from a water leak so the door would not shut and the wallpaper was hanging off the bathroom wall. The whole living area is too small and there would not be enough space for 4 people. The oven, hob and microwave are good, but there is nowhere for guests to store their food, and there is no step stool to reach the high kitchen shelves. The dining corner is cramped and the bench seating is uncomfortable. Despite comments from guests last summer the owners had not replaced the ancient garden table and chairs so it was not possible to eat outside in the lovely garden. This property is advertised with a 5 star rating which we don't feel it merits.

  • "Lovely quiet property with fabulous countryside views."

Appreciated the ability to walk cross country to the local shop - I'd suggest that it would've been helpful to have the route sketched out in the house booklet (the first attempt took me along the road which was a bit hazardous) Facilities good: note that the wi fi is fairly slow and only just capable of streaming on the TV (via our Amazon Fire stick). If anyone asks you, the download speed is around 12Mbps and upload is 1.8 Mbps. Thank you

We think the coffee tables should be solid rather flexible so we could place glasses etc on them. All the appliances were excellent but the cooker is difficult to alter the temperature. Apart from the outdoor table and chairs which are poor the whole package is excellent. A lovely area to walk from as well. Thankyou.

  • "The barn is compact but well laid out, nicely decorated and very comfortable."

It is beautifully situated in a very quiet setting next to a private vineyard with some beautiful country walks past wild flower meadows, woodland, fields and on one occasion, a random giant gnome. We were really lucky with the weather and had the most blissful relaxing break and I was sad to leave. The property allows dogs which was great but sadly the garden was not secure and it would be helpful to have that made clear in the listing. Also, the barn has been divided into two separate properties and the garden for the other side backs onto the ground floor bedroom. If the other barn had been occupied while we were there, I think the lack of privacy may have been quite stressful so I think configuring the gardens would be an improvement.

  • "We had an incredible stay at Honeysuckle Cottage, a very clean, well equipped & beautifully restored barn/cottage - we weren't out of sort for anything!"

The location is great too, you will likely need a car to get around as Wittersham is a quiet village, however very close to the coast & also bigger towns like Rye, Ashford ect, but we also took trips further, which was easily done to places like Rottingdean/Brighton, Eastbourne/Seaford & Hastings, so equally a great location to explore, or get to the cottage and not leave for a few days! Our only recommendation would be to have slightly better wifi, but understand thats sometimes out of ones control with more rural locations - otherwise, a completely perfect stay and would 100% come again & have already recommended to others. Thank you for being dog friendly too, our pups enjoyed the huge grounds and quiet dark nights!
