  • "We spent a lovely week at Tembo's rest and were most appreciative of the welcome goodies."

We would be delighted to return at some point. If we had to make any criticism, the entry step's at the front door painted matt black are not easy to see in the dark , possibly a wall mounted hand grip by the side of the front door would be an aid to the less sprightly.

  • "With great confidence we can only speak very highly of both the property and our host."

Our accommodation was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and very very comfortable. After each full day cycling the coastline it was a pleasure to return too and relax. After a fall whilst cycling it later turned out I had broken my ankle but this didn't distract from our super holiday and lovely experience. Thank you Sarah

Very central to the area we needed when you are visiting places in a 25 mile radius. Will definitely recommend

  • "Can't fault anything about our stay, everything nice and clean and well maintained."

I would recommend this cottage. One very slight issue on arrival is the tight entrance to the parking area, but we soon got used to that.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Tembo's Rest!"

Spotlessy clean, comfortable and with everything we could need, also a welcome pack with cookies, Pringles and appletiser, plus milk in the fridge. The conservatory was perfect for board games in the evening. Sarah was very friendly and has an excellent eye for detail. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely holiday let, you obviously have a lot of love for it!

  • "A lovely stay at Tembos rest."

Our host has a real eye for decoration Our host was very accommodating even when we had broken down putting the light on for us. My only worry was that some people might find the very narrow driveway (we had to turn round to get in due to a van parking opposite) and subsequent difficulty getting out on a slope onto the road ( the mirrors are a great help) might be a problem to some and I think people should be aware. Ps I can drive being an ex driving instructor.

Matt called round from next door to check everything was ok. Everything in the cottage you could need. Excellent location for the coast and castle visits and other places of interest. Would definitely return to Tembos Rest and can highly recommend it.

So much attention to detail from the owners and the welcoming touches ( even down to putting the lights on for our evening arrival) were so kind and thoughtful. Highly recommended.

  • "We were very happy with our stay at Tembo's Rest."

The cottage is very nice and just as advertised. The owners are very friendly and willing to help with any problem that occurs (the internet seemed to have failed at some point, it was fixed in no time). The cottage is also very clean and tidy and well organised. We stayed here with our son of 1 year old and there were also a high chair and a cot for him. This was perfect. The location is in a small village (Eastry), but you're relatively close to some larger cities and it's an easy location to travel to. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need so it's easy to cook for yourself here. If there was anything to remark (and this is very much a personal preference) then I wouldn't have minded some additional cooking utensils, but this is a very, very minor point. I would definitely recommend a stay at Tembo's Rest and would visit again if in the area.

  • "We had a great stay at Tembo's rest."

The property is a recently renovated cottage but still maintains its lovely features, spotless throughout and appreciated the little touches like milk in the fridge on arrival! Beds were comfortable, shower powerful, kitchen had everything to be able to cook and there was ample space in the conservatory to eat! The cottage was well situated for visiting all the coastal Kent towns which we did during the daytime and then nice to come back to to unwind and go to the local pub, where everyone was very friendly, or try the only Chinese takeaway in the village which was very tasty! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here. Thank you Sarah and family!

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at tembo’s rest."

The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. We bumped into the owner on our way to the village shop and she was friendly and helpful. I was a bit worried when I saw in the description that there may be traffic noise but actually the cottage is not directly next to the road and the road is a very quiet one so we didn’t hear any traffic noise at all. We would definitely stay here again.

The property

Situated in the historic village of Eastry, within easy reach of the city of Canterbury, this little cottage is adjoined to the owner's house and shares a driveway.

Perfect for couples or a small family, Tembo's Rest is a sophisticated retreat, acting as your own little haven to truly get away from it all.

There are two access doors where you will enter into a contemporary kitchen, wrapped in grey units, with spotlights in the ceiling and exposed stonework resting above.

Off the kitchen is the bathroom with a shower over bath and a heated towel rail.

The lounge feels vibrant yet comes as a relaxing bright space with summery seating.

The large conservatory continues this essence of vibrancy, and doubles up as the every-day formal dining area; all very modern with flashes of the structure of the original cottage throughout.

Upstairs are two good-sized bedrooms; one king-size and one twin, each beautifully presented, with plenty of space and window views.

What's more, the cottage also provides a travel cot and highchair, should you be bringing along a little one.

Just a short stroll will bring you to the village centre, which has a post office, bakers, Chinese and Fish and chip takeaways, pub and a shop.

Eastry is also home to a gorgeous Norman Church and a large park to enjoy.

Only a short drive from Sandwich and providing easy access to the rest of the Kent coast or inland to Canterbury, there is much to explore in and around the destination.

With its ancient buildings, nature reserves, golf courses, delightful country pubs, cafés and restaurants, the medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich is a must to visit.

The village is also bordered by small, picturesque villages, such as Ash, Worth and Woodnesborough and within easy reach is the nearby city of Canterbury, boasting the oldest cathedral in England as well as cosmopolitan restaurants and a thriving nightlife.

There are also plenty of other English heritage castles in Dover, Deal, Walmer and Richborough for people to enjoy.

Take a trip to the Cinque Ports town of Deal with it's own beach and pier for a great day out.

Take a boat ride along the River Stour and appreciate the architecture, then browse a selection of high street and independent shops nestled down narrow lanes or on the main street.

Tembo’s Rest is a beautiful cottage in a lovely part of Kent.
