  • "My wife and I had a wonderful weekend away staying at Ella's loft."

The setting was gorgeous and the loft was cosy and comfortable. We had all we needed and were treated to a delicious welcome pack. The hosts were welcoming and helpful with some great suggestions of places to visit. The hot tub was fabulous, it was so clean it looked brand new. We would very much recommend a stay and I'm sure we will be back again.

The place itself is perfect for two and has the feeling of being up in the trees. The hot tub was very clean and well looked after and overlooked a koi pond which I could watch for hours . There is also a fire pit which was also a welcome feature. Overall a great spot which I would recommend to anyone.

  • "On the listing they have failed to mention that this property is actually located in their front garden."

The only privacy you will get is in the actual cabin. You can see and hear the owners when you are in the hot tub. One of the owners was making a loud noise by chopping wood. Their daughter and granddaughter had arrived and they were loud. This isn’t mentioned on the website but it is mentioned in the welcome pack (after you’ve paid and arrived of course). They refused to give me a refund even though we left a few hours after arriving. I left because I couldn’t relax with the feeling of being watched. I was seen as I was walking to the hot tub and I’m very self conscious of my body because of my scars from having cancer. I will definitely be taking this further. I am so upset.

To read this review is very disappointing on many levels as it makes us seem unsympathetic to our guest’s needs. We go out of our way to make guests feel welcome. Unfortunately this is the first we have heard of these specific requirements. We meticulously show people around and explain everything. At this point it would have been very evident of the proximity of the hot tub to the rest of the property. If these points had been raised then we would have gone out of our way to accommodate these needs with a plan, ie a plan on timings for this extra level of privacy required. This could have been done discreetly by the guests partner, but without knowledge and communication this is impossible. Please read our other reviews and make your own mind up. We do not normally reply to reviews as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I am also not getting into the location of the property as the loft is situated at the rear of our 3/4 of an acre plot and in our opinion, and that of our past guests, it offers a very private and relaxing venue with exclusive use of a hot tub. The owners where friendly and welcoming and the loft is a lovely little space. The loft had everything we needed to self cater and was warm and comfortable. Yes its small but I would say perfectly formed and plenty of space for the two of us. Its a lovely peaceful location but well sited for Canterbury and the coast. The hot tub is a lovely addition and being undercover means it can be used in all weathers. I'm really looking forward to visiting again in the future.

  • "I think overall Ella’s loft is a great place to stay and I enjoyed my week away."

The bed was very comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need. The homemade muffins were a nice touch. The hot tub was one of the best I’ve used. Definitely the highlight of my week. However it’s clear that the photos advertised were taken when the place was new. In my opinion it could do with a spruce up. Cracks in the bathroom floor, plaster coming off of the walls. It was pointed out to me that the blind in the bedroom was broken and being held down by wire, surely this is something that can easily be replaced? The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during my stay, I reported it and was told the router had been reset but it still didn’t work. I had to use my own mobile data to watch the tv. I was only provided with one toilet roll and had to ask for more when that ran out mid stay. I don’t think this is something guests should have to ask for. I don’t like to leave negative feedback but there are just a few things that were missing for me to make this a five star stay.

Thank you for your feedback. In response we would like to say that we agree that a spruce up is needed but when we are so busy, we need to make sure this is scheduled for a such a time when there is a spare week which is scheduled for Autumn. With regard to the Wi-Fi, we did check and, at that time, it was working but as we live in a rural location, signal can be problematic and had you contacted us again, we would have further investigated and corrected the issue. We provide a starter pack which includes a toilet roll. The Loft is self-catering and our experience is that guests provide their bathroom needs for the duration of their stay. We’re glad you enjoyed the break as a whole and thanks again for the feedback. Regards Sheila and Steve. Property Owner

Great location allowing us to explore Broadstairs, Faversham and Chillham. Lovely and picturesque part of the UK. A hot tub, wood burner on the decking makes for a relaxing stay. Cottage is cosy and quiet at night and the Hot-tub is amazing, like having a warm bath and getting massaged at the same time with calming lights and a glass of wine, a perfect end to a busy day. We absolutely loved our stay here. Almost in two minds whether to leave a review as the selfish part of me wants to keep this place secret. Located in the beutiful town of Godmersham, Ella's Loft is a great base for either a relaxing weekend away or a week of exploring all the wonders Kent has to offer. Lots of lovely walk or cycling options straight from your doorstep. The hosts Steve and Sheila were wonderfully friendly and accommodating. They invited us for a walk one night and they let us explore grounds of the gorgeous Godmersham Hall with them and their two very lovable dogs. They gave us loads of great recommendations and Steve's baking was something else. The loft itself is very homely and well equipped. It's perfect for a couple. The hot tub is a wonderful luxury we ensured to make the most of during our stay. On our last night we were even lucky enough to see a meteor shower. We will definitely be looking to return in the future.

Having gone for a girls weekend there was an apparent lack of trust from the owners which added pressure on what was meant to be a retreat. A small issue happened with the hot tub while we were staying, we informed the owners and to which we were greeted with rude and abrupt treatment along with blame for the issue when it had nothing to do with us. It didn’t make the 4 of us comfortable at all and ruined our last night at the property. It is a great property, the listing didn’t mention you were in the owners front garden however which is worth mentioning for future bookings.
