On arrival we found the welcome pack very nice , but from then on we found the place to be unclean I will attempt to send photos , we found the upstairs bathroom toilet dirty human fecies the bath was dirty my wife clean both and the tiles surrounding the bath , we found the clean materials under the sink and I would of thrown them out long ago , only one dishwasher tablet in packet and only one squirt of washing up liquid so bought our own from shop , dried blood found on mattress covers in two bedrooms and a nail sticking out of floorboards on landing , outside furniture full of rust and uninviting as mentioned I have photos so will send them onto Sykes ,we booked for 7 days and left after 4 ,house has so much potential as a holiday let but left unkept and unclean Mark and Mandy Richards
Dear Mark and Mandy Thank you for taking the time to send this email. . We are both surprised and extremely sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience and that your wife felt the need to clean the bathroom on arrival. That is not how we want our guests to start their stay at Oak Meadow. I do wish that you would have contacted Sykes or us on arrival, so we would have had the opportunity to send someone to right the wrongs for you and make your stay a pleasant one.We do have a very experienced cleaner that has been helping us for a long time and will be sharing your views with her. We would really appreciate it if you could send the photos, so we can share those with her too. I will speak to Sykes today and follow their guidance on how best to solve this situation. Many thanks again for taking the time to contact us. Kind regards Tina and Alex Property Owner

The property
Settled in the picturesque High Welds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the outskirts of Westfield, East Sussex is Oak Meadow.
This delightful, dog-friendly holiday home has been thoroughly renovated providing a welcoming and stylish interior completed by three well-appointed bedrooms and a wonderful location overlooking the Carr Taylor Vineyard; it also boasts a fantastic location with access to both coast and countryside, the perfect choice for families or couples looking to explore all Sussex has to offer.
Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home where you can unwind in the sitting room where the soothing crackle of the woodburning stove greets you; later flick on the Smart TV or step through to the kitchen/diner to start preparing dinner.
Utilise the facilities in the kitchen to cook up a storm which can be enjoyed by the whole family around the table, afterwards step through the conservatory to the garden where you can raise a glass of wine to your getaway while admiring the views out over the vineyard; the perfect place to admire the stars filling the sky.
When the evening ends, head upstairs to wash off the day’s adventures in the bathroom before sloping off to sleep in the super-king-size or the two doubles.
If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic holiday home, head into the centre of Westfield where you can stock up on all your self-catering essentials at the local store or treat your loved ones to a delicious meal at The New Inn.
Those looking to experience the coast can head to Hastings where you can admire stunning views out to sea or alternatively immerse yourself in the past at the ruins of Hastings Castle and embark on an underground adventure at Smuggler Adventure or learn more about under the sea at Hastings Aquarium.
Guests can continue the historic excursion at Battle where you can tour the ruins of Battle Abbey or the site of the infamous 1066 battle.
All this and more awaits at Oak Meadow!

Where you’ll be staying
WESTFIELD
Battle 5 miles; Hastings 6 miles; Rye 9 miles.
Westfield is a thriving village situated only six miles inland of Hastings. With excellent access to other parts of Sussex and Kent, it’s a perfect choice for a base whilst exploring this part of the South Coast. Maplehurst Wood, on the outskirts of the village, offers approximately 78 acres of ancient woodland, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, it's home to many different species of breeding birds, including kestrel, tawny owl, woodpecker and nuthatch. For those wishing for long country walks, relaxed days spent fishing, or golf, Westfield is a wonderful option. Dating back to Doomsday times, Westfield, then known as Westewelle, is still one of the largest villages in the area, and even has its own winery - Carr Taylor Vineyards, a popular tourist attraction with vineyard walks, tours and wine tasting. There’s also a village shop, newsagents, butcher, delicatessen, hairdressers and a pub called The New Inn, serving excellent food. For fine dining, The Wild Mushroom Restaurant is a good choice. With Hastings just six miles away, you can enjoy a swim in the sea, beachcombing along the shore or clambering over castle ruins. For those wishing to wander around battlements or sample a Sussex cream tea, then make your way to Battle, a short drive to the west. With the social history museum of Yesterday's World allowing a walk through time, passing quaint shops with cobbled streets, Battle is appealing at any time of year, whilst Westfield provides a wonderful base.
